I purchased a pair of ICOM 2-way radios at a local Amature Radio store. They were a little more than most other Family 2-way radios, , seeing that ICOM is top of the line. Most families will go with a pair of Motorola Talkabouts, which can be found at
Walmart. Lately, I've seen them at Dick's Sporting goods pretty cheap. Keep in mind that there is a step above the FRS (Family Radio Service)... GMRS. These radios put out twice the power (2 watts as apposed to the 1 watt FRS.) Motorola GMRS radio's can be bought at Dicks for about $70 a pair, which is what I paid for ONE of my ICOMS a few years back. Needless to say, with the Cell Phone rage, these radios are pretty reasonable!!
Most likely, the one watt radios will be good enough for you guys, but in a big park like EPCOT, the extra power of the GMRS is kind of nice, especially if your partner is on the opposite side of the park. The FRS claim they have a 1 mile range, but with buildings and other objects in the way, it is less than that. Also, make sure you get a radio with Quiet Codes (most have them). These are simply extra channels in which you can set the radios to if the main channels have heavy traffic, which is most likely going to be the case.
I Reccomend Dicks S. Goods, then Walmart/Kmart/Target. Good luck and happy chatting!
