2 studios or 1 2-bedroom?

Hi everyone. My wife and I have a studio reserved for 8 nights and WL for July for us and our then three year old. We just started talking to my parents about them joining us for the last 4 or 5 nights of that trip. I'm debating whether or not we should just add a second studio for them, of if we should switch (assuming it's available) the second half of our trip to a two bedroom and give my parents the studio part. We will definitely be using my parents for at least two nights for babysitting, so the adjoining room aspect would be useful. But them sitting in the studio babysitting wouldn't be horrible, either. We would save a considerable amount of points by doing two studios over a two bedroom. My parents' visit will NOT be during a weekend. So here are my questions:

1. What do you all think would be better, to maximize points and go for the studios, giving up the adjoining room conveniences?

2. Any other aspects to a two bedroom that would push us toward that option regardless?

3. Would there be any guarntee that we would even get two studios near each other?

4. For that matter, are any studios designed with a door between them?

5. What do you think the likelihood of getting a two bedroom for July is at this point any way?

6. We would not be opposed to moving the reservation to SSR or the Boardwalk, saving even more points, but we were kind of looking forward to the MK convenience of the WL and the WL itself.

Thanks as always. Feel free to answer as many of these questions as you'd like. The more information the better!

Less than weeks to VB!
Less than two months to a weekend at the Poly (adults only)!

If the child will be sleeping when the grandparents are babysitting, I think the living room area would be invaluable.

There are no set-ups that connect one studio to another.

Have a great time.

1.2. If you can afford the points, go for the 2 bedroom. The washer/dryer is SOOO convenient.

3.No guarantee that they would be close together, although you can request it.

5. You won't know until you ask. But if you do get a ressie, ask for a lock-off. There are also dedicated 2 bedrooms at VWL with two beds in the extra room.

Good luck!

If you are wanting the 2 br only during the time your parents visit, you will need to (a) switch rooms when they come or (b) have a lock-off and hope for the best! I say that because I know when I tried to get a 2br to use for our last trip, I asked if we could keep the same room when our guests checked out of the studio side. The CMs told me that I would still have to come down to the front desk, check out, then check back in, and they would TRY to keep me in the same room -- but there was no guarantee. I'd say they would make a true concerted effort, since that means one less room to clean, but it would probably be even harder if you were wanting the studio to be added ON during your stay (not taken off).

For 8 nights with a 3 yr old and visiting parents -- you may very well love having that living area and washer, dryer, kitchen that the 1 br / 2 brs afford.... but I'll warn you, there's no doing studio after that, lol!

I just called Friday for my July reservation and there were still plenty of availabilty everywhere(less at BCV,but most at OKW,BWV and VWL).

My biggest decision right now is if I want to keep my ressie for BWV at 150 pts for a one bed or swith to OKW 2 bed for the same points. I really like the convenience of BWV but the space would be great too.....such problems!!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I am going with my sister in November and used the two studio option due to the lower points. I was told I could not get a guarantee that they were near each other, but Using lower points is important to us so we can go again in one year. You can wash by the pool I read on these boards. I think the seperate room might be nice and more privacy for your parents and they may need it and feel good about having their own room. If you are not cooking I would save the points but good luck on whatever you decide. The littl eone will probably sleep in their bed anyway.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Most of what was said confirmed what I was already thinking. Lori and I have 270 points, with 10 banked from this UY. This new combined reservation will cost us 278, so it almost seems meant to be. We decided to go with the 2 bedroom for the last five nights. There are just so many arguments for. We decided to stay with VWL since that is where we really want to be, even though it costs more than SSR or Boardwalk.

We also decided to keep this vacation twist from my son, so he can be surprised when my parents walk up to him. I can't wait.
