2 studios instead of a 1BR?

We area family of 5 and wondering if anyone else books 2 studios and hopes they are near eachother instead of the 1 bedroom to have better sleeping options? We are considering doing this next year. We usually have grandparents come with us so we get a 2br but I think it might be just the 5 of us next year. We are considering 2 studios at CCV or BCV so we have better sleeping options and so we pretty much dont get on eachothers nerves...

We've done both ways and 2 studios definitely has it's benefits. More room, 2 bathrooms and the ability to have some quiet time when necessary. Really depends how attached you are to the full kitchen, washer/dryer and jacuzzi. We really don't mind ether way. We usually base it on whichever we can get at our resort of choice. Sometimes you can get the 2 studios but not the 1br and vice versa.

Just remember that a 1 BR has a washer/dryer and a full size fridge with freezer, both not in a studio

I think it is a matter of preferences. Obviously having two studios provides more beds, baths, space and privacy when you need it. But, as mentioned previously you will no longer have access to a full kitchen and washer/dryer.

I think the one difference is that an adult must be sleeping in each of the studios even if they are connecting studios at PVB.

Some 1BRs have 2BRs as well. If you check out the square footage for each resort, sometimes the 1BR is more than twice the square footage of two studios eg. BLT and OKW are two examples. Also the living room is a good gathering space for the whole family. And with the larger refrigerator and kitchen area you can easily save money by have breakfast in the villa and even snacks and drinks for the family.

Unless the other three have at least on who is 18 or older, the parents are going to have to split up for the entire trip like Denise says. And you lose the washer and dryer in the villa and have to use the shared laundry.

Also keep in mind that - except at the Poly - DVC studios do not connect and there is no guarantee they'll be close to each other. So you'll need to have at least one adult in each studio. If your kids are adult children, it makes a lot of sense - I'd do it in a hot minute with my soon to be eighteen and nineteen year olds. If you are talking about a six, eight and twelve year old, I wouldn't do it since part of vacation is enjoying my husband's company,

Thanks everyone for the responses. The boys will be 16 and 18 and our daughter will be 11. We hardly ever use the full kitchen. Just the fridge and toaster. The real loss would be the laundry.

You don't want/need a freezer? Some people don't, but some people aren't aware that they don't get one in a studio any more.

Just a reminder that those in studios still have a laundry room that guests have access to and there is no charge for using the washer and dryers. There are usually two machines and six more dryers.

We did it at BWV. And they were on same floor but like 9 rooms and elevator bay apart (and was P/G studio and standard 1BR). I complained at desk and was told I was lucky they were that close. Didn't get them until 4:30 either and was told it was late because they were meeting my request...which was across hall from each other....complained because they didn't meet request as they were on same side of hall and a bit of a walk apart.

Also it is tough to get studios anymore so getting two...best if it's home resort at 11 months. Might be able to first thing at 7 month window. BCV is a small resort.

What is the point difference?

That depends on the time of year, the days, etc. Just look it up on the DIS on the DVC boards.
