2 strollers rather than 1?

My week-away-from-turning-3 at the time of vacation twins and their 6 year old brother and all the family are going to Disney World! DH and I had bought a double side by side Combi because we loved how light it was and how it folds up. Now he is saying he doesn't want to take it because it is so big and won't fit in most shops. (true) He wants to use umbrella strollers. However that is too much sun. So I suggested getting a nicer set of strollers, like a Chicco umbrella that has a sun shade and even a small basket.
Is this crazy? There will be 4 adults and 3 kids, would we regret pushing 2 strollers around? The girls grab stuff off shelves like crazy and there would be so many people the big stroller seems like a bad idea. Have any of you split up your kids and used 2 strollers?

I would definitely do 2 singles, especially with that many adults!

I chose to bring 2 strollers over our double - as long as you have another
"pusher" you should be good! I thought it was easier to manage folding and stowing 2 smaller strollers, plus, it was much easier to navigate 2 smaller ones when crowds were high - parade time, etc. When you park, just put them side by side and tie a matching brightly colored ribbon to each one!

If I had extra "pushers" I'd take two singles... DH & I will be on our own with our two boys, so we're taking a double because DS#1 won't ride ALL the time and someone will have to keep up with him when he's on foot :)

We drive so on our last trip, DH and I brought both, our big double and two smaller ones. After day 1, we only brought the two singles in. Especially with that many adults. We do have two of the small combi's. They fold up great just like the double combi. They are very lightweight and easy to maneuver. They are fairly inexpensive and they have shade canopies on each of them.

We tried this once on a different vacation and it did not work for me! My husband often ended up going different places with the older kids and we would take the twins back for a nap......then they would wake up and I was left stuck- could not manage pushing the two strollers and wishing we had just fit in the double so I could go walk them around or go somewhere! If you are sure you will always have 2 pushers it would be fine! Also at that time my twins were babies -not walking so that makes a big difference. My husband also ended up hating pushing the umbrella strollers we had so one of our older kids would push.......the double stroller was big but it pushed so well and had such a nice big basket.

My kids were different ages and I loved having two singles over a double. We also had lots of pushers and it gave us the option of having a parent and a kid go get food, FPs, whatever with a kid so no one was left on their own.

We had three extra adults with us, so we brought two Chicco umbrella strollers to WDW last year. Next trip I'll bring the double Combi we have. We rarely split up, and when it was just me & DH with the girls, having two strollers was more of a hassel. That being said, I did have the stroller clips that I didn't use during the trip. Had I done that, maybe it would have been easier?

It was nice to have two very light strollers with us as we got on/off the buses. I find the Combi light for a double, and it is only 30 inches wide, so it will fit in most of the shops, etc. Many people bring larger double strollers and have no issues with them.

Either way will work! Think about how much time you'll have with extra adults around, and use that as your guide.

Depends on if you plan to split up due to the ages of your kids. We had 2 strollers and it was great for us!

We've always used 2 strollers. That way both DH & I have something to push and I'm not the one doing all the pushing. ;)

We went through the same thing with our kids and have actually done it both ways. We're going back in March and will be doing two single umbrella strollers. It's just so much easier to navigate and to get in and out of the shops. There were times that we only had one pusher (ie: in the airport when DH was loaded down with luggage:rotfl: or when one of us had to run to the bathroom) so we used those stroller connectors. They work great and I was able to get them at Babies R Us. Good luck!

We keep going back and forth on this one. We have both a single maclaren (and would buy another single) and a double maclaren. Just don't know yet. There are only two of us, so when the 4 yr old wants to walk, I'd have to manage both strollers alone... potentially two empty ones if wearing the baby.

However, with extra hands, I'd do two singles.

We brought a double stroller for 5 and 4 yr old. They only went in the stroller when they were tired or it was really crowded. I am glad we used the double.... since DH & I would each be pushing a stroller around... empty or not.

I guess I am odd, I say double.

We have done it both ways and we much prefered the double. We rent from Orlando Stroller

Thanks everyone. I am more inclined now to bring the one stroller. DH is still on the fence. He is afraid he is going to get stuck pushing.

My dd will turn 3 during our trip in 2 weeks. I also have an 8 month old. We will bringing two strollers. We have a double jogger but it just seems so big to be dragging around Disney.

We went to Washington DC & Virginia Beach this summer and we took two strollers for that trip also. It was nice in case we needed to split up etc.

OK, keep in mind that both my kids haven't been in a stroller in at least 6 years, and that I hate HATE HATE strollers...

I find two umbrella strollers or a double one-behind-the-other stroller to be much more convenient than one side-by-side stroller.

With a side-by-side stroller, you have to worry about navigating around crowds with a wider space, while with two strollers you can navigate through two smaller spaces.

Also, I forgot to mention - we took our "big stroller" (Graco Metrolite) as well as our cheap-o umbrella (modified with longer handles as I described in a previous thread) and I was able to hook the handles of the umbrella on the handles of the big stroller when I had both kids and my oldest wanted to walk. It was a bit cumbersome, but much easier than pushing two strollers! (I just had to be careful not to let go since the weight was not properly balanced!)

we took 2 singles last time and it worked out because we had an extra adult with us. We could also split up if wanted.
