I rode ToT about 11 years ago and vowed never to get on it again. But I remember it being a very cool ride (other than that sudden drop). Does anyone have any pics (or better yet VIDEO) from inside the ride??? I would love to be able to experience it again, but simply can not handle the fall.

I rode it last year for the first time. I am a roller coaster chicken, but I was daring (or crazy) enough to try TOT. There are several drops, most are in the dark, and the one from the top is random. It was fun, but I am not sure if I would go on it again.

Three years ago, I also rode ToT for the first time. I got off the ride, bought a pin that said "I survived Tower of Terror" and told my hubby that once was enough for me and don't plan on riding again.

Well this spring I changed my mind and tried it again. I still am not a big fan of the "ups and downs" but the ride is really a lot of fun. I ride, hang on and scream really loud until it is over. I rode it twice this past trip and it has become one of my favorites. I like the back rows though, not the front for me, thanks. I feel more "safe". :thumbsup2

Just to alert you, TOT has changed a few times from when it opened in the mid-90s. There are now A FEW drops in random sequencing, so you may not get the same drop sequence twice if you ride the attraction a few times in a row.

The CM put my stepson and myself on the front row, even though we requested somewhere in the middle. Perhaps I should have been more clear since he put his in the middle of the front row (there was open space or an aisle to my left). It's worth riding once anyway! You may like the random drops that have been added.

Just what I was going to say! I went on it a couple of days after it first opened (there was no wait! how i miss those days!), or maybe it was a soft opening.......I'm not sure, I was only 6 and scared to death. Anyway, it used to take you all the way up, and then drop you ALL the way down......twice. But now, it's the random sequence that takes you up and down. The safety restraints are different as well: it used to be lap bars, and now it's seatbelts. I kinda miss the original format.

I think the idea of lapbars seems better than seatbelts to me. Although I was scared to be on the front, at least there was a bar in front of me that I hung on to for dear life! I'm not sure what I would've done with my hands with just a seatbelt!

I'm very sure that there are hand bars to hang onto that are attached to either side of your seat, since the seatbelt was introduced. I remember hanging onto them when the bar at the front was removed.

I've ridden ToT three times now. The first time, back in '01, my dd, then 8, dh and myself rode. No big deal. We even kind of liked it. So, in '03, when my dd and I were having a mother/daughter trip to WDW, we figured we would do it again. Ah, not a good idea. We got a whole different experience. There are still parts of me in that ride!! WE both got off and said.."Never again!!" I guess we got a wussie sequence the first time, but not the second time.
So, last Dec I went with a bunch of other DISers. I prayed for a wussie sequence! Much to the others' dismay, I got my wish. It wasn't very bad. I like the seat belts better than the lap bars. I hate that 'air time' with the bars!!!! However, there are side bars to grab onto....my fingerprints are most likely still on the ones from Dec!!!!

In 1997 I went to WDW with my family and refused to go on the TOT - there was no possible way I was going to step foot on that ride. In October 2005 I returned to WDW for my honeymoon and I told my husband 'there was no way I was going to step foot on TOT', but I guess I was wrong, somehow my husband convinced me to go on it. When we loaded the car, I honestly thought I was going to cry - I was incredibly freaked and scared! As we climbed our way up, I began to tremble, shake, and started getting teary eyed - I didn't know how I was going to do this and then all of the sudden we stopped moving and then we dropped....climbed...dropped...climbed...had our picture taken....dropped....climbed....dropped...and then we were done. After getting off the ride, I realized I loved this ride and it wasn't scarry at all. When we were walking off the ride, my husband told me that as the doors to start the ride closed, he thought he made made a mistake, because he had a feeling I was going to flipout and there was no way to get me off the ride once we left. Looking back, I am so happy that my husband made me go on the ride, because after that one ride, we walked on to the ride 5 more times consecutively. We are going back in September and can't wait to ride TOT again!

I rode ToT twice my first trip to WDW in '01, and haven't been able to ride it since. Last trip, I decided to try again... I made it through the line up until the part where you get loaded in, then I chickened out, lol. Might try again next time though!

OOOOH I love love love this ride!

I remember being too scared when it first came out. I'm not sure why.

Anyway, I ride it many times each trip now. I found the trick for me is to NOT fight the drops. Just let myself relax and go with it, it makes a big difference!

I may like it better since the restraints are different. That's what scared me so bad before. Back then, I had VERY skinny legs so the lap bar did not even come close to touching me. I literally came out of my seat three or four inches. Maybe if I felt more secure....
nah, doubt anyone will ever get me back on!!!

I agree that not fighting the drops makes it easier, but only because I believe my dbf. Me I haven't had the courage not to hang on for dear life :scared1:! However he says if you just relax and fold your hands in your lap (yeah right like that's gonna happen!) your body just kind of goes plop plop with each drop :) .

Doesn't sound that scary really. It's the line before the ride that really sets the mood. Sure gives me the creeps that's for sure :hmghost:!

It's a must for me!!!

I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of rolleroasters and other thrill rides, but - I've got to try these things purely to say that I was brave enough to try them.

I'm 35 (cough), look 40 but have the excitement of somebody who is 18 at this moment of time in England. I can't wait to try every single thrill ride possible in all the parks from Orlando to Tampa.
