2 rooms at the CBR or 1 at the contemporary?

I know one is deluxe and the other a mod., but besides that where would you stay?

There will be five of us.

Three girls 12, 10, and 8 my DH and myself.

The CR is a wing room(north I hope). Although I have been to the world 4 other times I have never stayed at either of these resorts.

So anyone who has been to them, if you could give me the pros and cons of each and why you would choose one over the other,

I would love to hear about your opinions.

I also want to thank all of you for helping me plan a GREAT Ann. trip last July. It was the BEST trip to the world yet!

I think you should go with the CR, the transportation is better, the rooms are larger, there are numerous dining options, and numerous shops. I liked the CBR, but not as much as the CR, it is a hassle to get Breakfast in the morning at the CBR, especially if you are in a room far away from OPR. That just my 2 cents.

I think I would opt for two connecting rooms at CBR.

You'll get four beds, two full bathrooms, lots of storage area, and plenty of room for five people to move about without tripping over each other.

The two bathrooms will be great for saving time (waiting for five people - especially three girls - to shower & get ready can take alot of time!.....I come from a family of four girls, so I'm an expert!)

These are the things that I have considered. The two bathrooms would come in handy, But being on the monorail may be a lot easier with three kids.

I keep going back and forth....I just cant seem to make up my mind.

I have to put my deposit down in a week.

Anybody else?...........Please help me with any info you all have!

Oh and by the way it would cost me around 150.00 less for five days in one room at the CR, then two rooms at CBR.

I would save the $150.00 for tickets or food, and you'll be getting the Disney deluxe service at the Contemporary.

Are these the only options- would you not consider the Poly? only advantage for me would be the pool at the Poly looks like more fun for your kids ages and it's on the monorail as well- and when I've been to the Contemporary the busy deco look really isn't relaxing to me- you can check out their rooms at the Disneyworld.com site - it's just a personal preference thing.

But we have 3 children (8,5,4) and I much prefer them to be in the same room as we are if they're under 12. Once mine are all over 12 then I may consider adjoining rooms- but we go on vacation to be together and we have more fun hanging out together than in a separate room. (at this age anyway). At the ages of your children I think you'd spend more time at MK and Epcot- so having the monorail is a huge plus- plus the rooms at the CR/Poly are much bigger than the moderates and you don't feel crowded. That's right, the Poly! Ooh, I love the Poly it is IMO tied with the GF for best resort on property, the theming is great, the pool is magnificent and so are the restaurants.

We put 5 in a room in the N. Garden wing of the CR over Thanksgiving 2002, and it wasn't bad. We loved the convenience, and our kids had an easier time getting to ride in the cockpit of the monorail than they did over Easter when we stayed at the Dolphin. We enjoyed the EWP, but you can go from CB to one of the other resorts (my fave is WL or Poly for this) for it.

You have to decide whether it's more important to have space and some privacy for your dh and you or whether you want to be on the monorail.

I think the CR, despite the lack of theming, makes you feel very much right at Disney. You can go up to a hallway in the tower and look down over Chef Mickey's, and you can see the castle and walk to the MK. One thing that was really nice about staying at CR was that we needed to go to Guest Relations, and our oldest wanted to sleep. We left him a phone and a radio, and we took the younger 2 with us. We wouldn't have done that had we been at CB, because the transportation takes too long.

The rooms at CR are large, so the roll-away didn't make it feel crowded. The bathroom was large. If you haven't, try www.wdwig.com to look at pictures. Look at the Tower room pictures, because our N. Garden Wing room looked exactly like those and not like the pictures posted of the the NGW.

We love space, but my vote would probably be the CR for location, location, location!

I would LOVE to stay at the Poly. I have admired this resort since the first time I have seen it.

Unfortunately the Poly costs even more per night, then the two rooms at the CBR.

Being on the monorail it might be worth it but so is the CR. and it is less.

I REALLY wish it was the other way around.
The decor at the CR is not my favorite, but its not terrible.

On my last trip to WDW, I had two rooms at CBR. I had the same problem you did. This trip could have been my first deluxe. There were 4 of us, myself, mom, 14 year old dd, and 14 year old dd's friend. I was worried about the bathroom situation with two teenage girls along. I went for the two rooms, and we were all so happy. We had connecting rooms, plenty of space (I can't stand to be crowded), and we didn't get on each other's nerves for the entire 12 days.

Personally, with teenagers, I will always get two rooms from now on. I see your children are a little younger so this may not be an issue yet. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time!

With that information I would go for the CR mainly for the advantage of having the monorail- but I would keep checking for good rates on the Poly- the Fairy tale Package this year made it much more affordable for us bringing the room rate down to the $170 range per night. I would make reservations now and you won't be penalized for changing until it's 45 days out from your trip.
Have a great time - less walking for the kiddoes means more peace of mind and that is priceless!

I don't think you should stay at the CR because if you do you'll be spoiled for any other trips!!

If you plan on spending a lot of time at the MK the CR is SOOOO convenient!! You can easily head back to your room in the afternoon for a nap or pool time.

Personally the CR is my favorite!! My then 7 y.o. enjoyed the pool at the CR. They have a game room and the food court is a great quick choice for breakfast.

I like to browse the shops in the tower and they have a huge pin area if that is of interest.

Just got back from our first stay at the Contemporary. The room was huge. The trip was just DD (11) and myself(we were staying there for a conference). I really liked the pool. It seemed to have a lot of individual "space" and the food court was not too expensive. My DD discovered the arcade and was in heaven!. The walk to the MK was great! I did not care form the decor of the CR rooms. I have to say that the Polynesian is my favorite even though we are DVC members at the WL and BCV. I really liked being on the monorail line at the CR. You need to decide on your "family dynamics" when you make your choice. Two rooms would be nice but you will be farther away if you stay at the CBR. Are you booking through SOG? We did and had a ground floor room in the North Wing and we enjoyed it a great deal but remember it was just the 2 of us! Good luck in your decision!

Our second trip to Disneyworld we booked a room and stayed 10 days at the Comtempory in the north garden wing, 3rd floor (perfect view of the tree between us and the pool). We did get a feel for the place after being there for so many days and the longer we were there, the more we felt like we were at home. Except it cost a lot more money. lol

At first I was leery about staying at the oldest WDW resort (credit given to the former Disney Inn) I have heard many comments about the Contempory being old and outdated. Well my family of 5 could not have had a better time, 10 days of "right in the middle of Disney action" at it's best.

Though we were not impressed with the grounds, the room in the west Garden Wing was huge and the food was great. Kids running in the hall way early in the morning was annoying, but that happens every place. The pool was so so but the us kids had just as much fun as in any other pool. Its open 24/7 so we never had to hurry back to go swimming like some of the other resorts.

What makes the big C a winner in our minds was far and above the ease of getting to the MK just by walking. Walking was a great stress reliever and a good way to beat the crowd crush at the Monorail after the park closed. It gave us some personal, private time in the middle of a very crowded place. We went to the MK every night for the Fireworks, walking made it seam like we were home and just had to go out in the back yard to see the show.

The Contempory's view from outside on the rooftop, we could see the fireworks from the MK, and the distant Illuminations and Fantasmic created one of those memories that will stick around for awhile. The "sound" of the music (let alone the depth of the view) of the water parade heard at the rooftop was better than at the beach and we were the only one's there. The echo and the acoustics of the show was enhanced at that height becouse you heard distant echo's which gave us all a unforgettable memory that will last a lifetime.

The sight of the Monorail gliding over from the MK, then looking down from the roof into the lobby where it stoped, the parasail off in the distance and the "Mice" out on Bay lake. The thunderhead backlighting the Poly and GF with lighting at night put us in the Disney sprit, you know like: "Wow where really here"

Every night we had to end the day with a trip up to roof just to be outside, as it was so quite and peaceful, a perfect way to end the day.

There "might" be newer and better MKA resorts to stay at.
None can put you in the middle and above the kingdom like the Contempory can.

This resort will be always a favorite of mine from now on.
