2 quick questions...????

I have lime green t-shirts to print on would they be a "dark" or "light" fabric ?

Should you wash the t-shirts before you iron them?

Wash the shirts but don't use any fabric softener....liquid or sheets. After you wash the shirts, iron them.

I would suggest the dark transfer paper because it just works better, IMO. The colors are more vibrant.

With light transfer paper, the background will be the color of the shirt, but it's never completely clear. The only way this really works is with white, but I still use dark transfer paper with my white shirts. With dark transfer paper, the background will be white.

If your image doesn't have a border, it may look better with one. I did my first image without a border on a white t-shirt with dark transfer paper and wasn't totally happy with the results. I added a border and LOVED it.

I used dark transfers for my lime green shirts, and yes, wash them, but DO NOT use fabric softner...Good luck with your shirts

I agree with PPs. I also wanted to add that if you use light transfer paper, anything in the print that is supposed to be white will be clear and the shirt will show through

I also use dark even on my white shirts. The quality just looks better (JMHO).

Question about the dark transfer paper. When you use it do you put in some kind of background where there isn't one on your picture so that the white of the paper does not show. I am getting ready to do some shirts and have the paper for the dark colors. I am worried how it is going to look...

If you want a different color then white then you will need to add some kind of background. If there isn't any color then the white paper will show through. Here is a pic of my DDs and that is with the white paper. Also if you look at my siggy there is a pic of them with shirts and the white background. (this is the same stick figure pic, just different years and different color shirts, I just love this one )

Oh, also wanted to add: with the dark paper you DO NOT inverse the image. With the light you do, so I thought I would add that

I imported the image into powerpoint, added the border, saved it as a jpeg, then opened in photoshop

I used the eraser tool, circle shape, to make the polka dots. I used the paintbrush tool, circle shape, to make the polkadots on the interior. Here's a blank border:

opposite that...light=color of material as background; dark= white background

This is what I want to put on a lime green t-shirt.....I would prefer it to only be mickey w/the mickey head that says cousin....should I use light or dark transfer to make that happen?

I have a similar design that I am putting on red shirts with dark transfer paper. I cut around the Mikey head with an exacto knife and then cut as close to the words as a I could. So I had two seperate pieces but I ironed them on at the same time. It turned out great and I didn't have all the extra white, but I still had the bright color that you get from the dark transfer paper.

I think if you use the light paper then Mickey will have lime green gloves and buttons on his pants. With light paper then it doesn't have white for a color, it is clear so the shirt would show through.

I think your best bet would be what jmartin0290 says.

I had a thought on it though, I saw another poster take the wording and cut it out in a wavy pattern, maybe you could just cut out the WDW part and have a little white background around it??? Did that make sense??? Maybe I can find a pic????

OK, I found the pic. I thought it was the neatest idea!!!

why isnt there any white around the characters and only the life is good part?

I am betting this is exactly right. They printed it out on a full piece of paper then cut out the disign only, no white showing. Then they cut the wording out in a wavy pattern leaving a little white (see, this is why I needed the picture )

I have Tshirts where I cut out a circle showing only the disign inside of the cirlce frame. This would be the same idea but cutting out would be a little harder then my circle
