2 questions on Magic Bands

Angie I agree but Disney is supposed to ask all guests for I.D, for any alcohol purchase, not every castmember does this but they are supposed too. It would be so much easier to combine every thing in the app instead of a magic band. I have digital copies of I.D., credit card and can use the app to open my room door it would be nice to have the choice to use the app or magic band.

I think that the cast members practice common sense when it comes to selling alcohol. I am in my mid 40s and have not been ID'ed in at least a decade. Personally, I love the MB. I was not sure about them when they announced it since I don't usually wear anything on my wrists but they are comfortable to me. I have noticed a convenience in them, especially at the gates. There used to be a pile up of people that scanned their cards and took 2 steps away from the turnstiles and stopped dead to get their wallet out to put away their KTTW cards. Now the traffic moves smoother, IMO. Most counter service places do not take AP, DVC discounts so I do not have to take out my ID there either so that is a bunch of extra times that I don't have to dig in my wallet. Anyone with little kids can appreciate that they don't have to pull out a card at the door anymore when their hands are already full of little ones. I like that they FPs are on them also instead of the paper slips they used to have. The nice thing about the MB is that they are optional. If you want the card instead, they will give you one.

I don’t like how my wrist gets sweaty with the MB. However, it’s nice not to have to get your key out or use paper FP.

We're about to make our first trip with Magic Bands, and I have a couple questions:

1. This may be a dumb question, but do people LIKE Magic Bands? I mean, we read questions about their use frequently, but I've not read anything about people saying, "Oh, wow, these things are great!" So, do people like them, or just use them because they're "a thing"?

2. How far in advance can I order them? I read about minimum ordering-ahead time, but I'm not a last minute type of girl. So how soon CAN I do order?

Thanks, All.
I do like them, and I reuse mine since they remain active or just reactivate them for future trips. It's also environmentally friendly to do so by reusing them.

I love the MBs. I have already received mine for my February 2020 trip. As far as people who call them excess baggage and want to get rid of them, I am trying to fill up a floral wire Mickey with them and I have the two ears to fill yet.

Maybe I missed it being mentioned in this thread, but another perk is that they're waterproof/pool-friendly! No more hiding room keys in a shoe or under a tote bag when you're poolside. You keep your "key" with you the whole time.

Our offsite timeshare has switched to wristband NFC room "keys" too for the same reason. Go swimming without worry; don't have to leave your room unlocked or hide a keycard somewhere. In this case they're simple bands that stretch over your wrist and get returned at the end of your stay, but it's definitely nice not fumbling around for a key when you're bringing the luggage in, coming back from the grocery store, or from the park with souvenirs.

Still cant pick Magic bands for trip, my Dec 2020 trip shows up but not my feb 2020 trip.... guess I'll have to call...
