I am from Australia and just need 15 days all up in WDW. I was wondering, I know this makes no economical sense but I purely would like to know if it can be done...

If you have a for instance 1 x 10 Day MYW Pass (No Park Hopper)
and another 1 x 6 Day Base Ticket (Again, No Park Hopper) Per Person Could you do this: enter say...Magic Kingdom in the morning on the 10 day ticket and then in the evening of the same day switch to the other base ticket the 6 day ticket and enter Epcot? Or is there a finger scanner that detects stuff like this from happening? I would say you could as I am using 2 different tickets both in my name, but I am not sure.

I am saying this as my package I have a free dining package MYW package 14 nights/15 days all up, I have a 10 day base ticket in my package and I need to buy a 5 day pass separately to make the total 15 days in the park the thing is I only need 1 day where I park hop. So therefore I am thinking buying a separate 6 day pass, so I can "hop" one day. Instead of buying 5 and adding a PH to the ticket just for the 1 day I need to hop.

thanks for any help this is my first trip to WDW. :)

Hmm, good question. I'm curious to find the answer out.

My feeling would be probably not because of the finger scan - the computer would recognize that the same person is trying to get in two different parks on the same day.

Although on the other hand, it seems like you might not technically be breaking a rule since it's two separate tickets. Sort of gray area...

Calling Cheshire Figment!!!!!

I think it would work. I think the fingerprint is linked to the ticket not the person per say so as long as the ticket is not used to park hop I think it would work. Of course I have been wrong many times :)

Interesting...

It is strictly a guess, but I would tend to think you could do this. The scanner simply links a person to a particular ticket, I don't believe it is designed to "track" a person. That would require storing the actual fingerprint info and using it to match another ticket... not likely.

I am interested to hear how this one pans out :)

Some in my family used their pointer finger, some used their thumb, so you could use a different finger for the 2 different tickets. Typically, going from a 6 day to a 7 day may not cost much, so if you were thinking of hopping 2 different days, may want to increase the 2nd. (for example, to go to Fantasmic, Wishes - but may want to spend the day at a park less crowded).

Instead of buying 2 different MYW tickets have you considered going the Annual Pass route?

I realize you may not be making more than one trip to WDW in the year but the cost of a 10 day non Park hopper and a 5 day non park hopper equal the cost of an AP. The AP will allow you to Park Hop on any of your days at the world, plus you get a few discounts with the AP!

Since you have a 10 day MYW ticket as part of your package just take that your first day there or any day after you first use it and upgrade it to the AP.

Just a thought...

Yes, you can do what you are proposing. You can enter two separate parks using two SEPARATE/DIFFERENT tickets.

What you can't do is enter two parks using the same non-park hopper ticket hopping that it will deduct two days from the usage amount.

Yes, disneydownunder, you absolutely 100% can do what you propose.

The finger scan does not store your fingerprint, and as petraman said the system does not track a person.

The fingerscan looks at several specific points in your fingerprint. It measures the distances between those points, puts those measurements through a proprietary algorithm, and you end up with a semi-unique number. This number is known in the biometrics industry as a "hash."

I say semi-unique because there are only roughly 1,000 hashes. It's not like a fingerprint, where no two are alike. But 1 in 1,000 is plenty good enough to prevent people from sharing partially-used tickets.

So let's say the hash numbers are 000 through 999, and let's say your fingerprint produces a hash of 512. When you first use the 10-day ticket it will be tied to hash #512, and when you first use the 5-day ticket is will also be tied to hash #512. Maybe 100,000 people enter Disney parks in a day. This means, on average, that about 100 other guests will also register a hash of 512 at the entrance turnstiles.

So as you can see, your plan will work because "you" are not being tracked, it's just that almost all others can't successfully use your ticket.

And, just as an FYI, a hash cannot be backwards engineered. That is, there is no way to hack into the system and see a person's hash and then somehow reconstruct their fingerprint from that otherwise useless number.

I'm admitting I was too lazy to check the prices, but if this is accurate I would absolutely buy the annual pass. That way you can park hop as much as you want and get some discounts.

Thanks everybody you have been a great help and there has been some fascinating information especially the about the finger scan!

I have briefly considered getting an Annual Pass upgrade from the 10 day ticket, but I have read many, many posts on DisBoards saying when there is the Free Dining Promotion attached to the keys to the world, and you have to take the 10 Day Pass off and replace with an separate Annual Pass "upgrade" things can get messy. Unless I maybe leave 1 day on there and buy a AP.

But at least I know I can do the 10 day and 6 day Pass individually this will be great!.

Thank You once again, and any more information or opinions are greatly appreciated :)

How many people in your package with dining? How many might upgrade to annual pass?

Upgrade some people on one day, anbd see if the dining etc. stil works. If not, get those room cards fixed at the resort that evening.

Next day upgrade the rest of your party to AP. Again test those room cards at the restaurants first to see if the cards still work.

Another way is to separate the ticket admissions from your room key before you leave the resort in the morning. Then upgrade to AP using the single separate ticket card.

In American dollars, including tax:
A 10 day base ticket costs $279.03.
A 6 day base ticket costs $257.73. Total = $536.76
An AP costs $531.44.

Remember that an AP comes with hopping automatically. Additionally, the AP leads to certain discounts on tours, merchandise, hard-ticket events. It also allows you to buy the Tables in Wonderland card for $75, which gives you 20% off table service restaurants, including those that are not covered by the dining plan (like appetizers, soups, salads, and adult beverages).

The AP (which you do not need to buy before booking a room) can also lead to some pretty good room discounts, which in some cases, depending on your hotel level and number of guests, can be a better deal than free dining, even when you add paid dining back in.

Finally, in terms of upgrading to an AP, I did this two years ago with a ticket that was bought as part of a package. I had no difficulty upgrading the ticket on the KTTW card to an AP. If you are concerned, go to Guest Relations and ask for a supervisor, who should be able to assist you and not mess up your dining credits.

When deciding whether to buy (or upgrade to) an AP, put most of the weight on the number of park days you will be spending.

Only one adult needs an AP for the family to get the discounts, Tables In Wonderland card, etc. Also be sure you will rack up enough discounts to make up for the $75 cost of the TIW card.

Do not deliberately leave one day on the room key, set it aside, and then buy an AP. This way is not an upgrade. None of the dollars that went to package park admissions on the room key will go towards the AP. For those eavesdropping: If you use up all the park days and your resort stay is not over, the remaining meals are still good through checkout day and ticket upgrades can be done all the way up to the 14'th day from when the ticket was first used.

It would work, but is not really a good idea.

A 10 day base ticket is $262 (plus tax). A six daqy base ticket is $242. Total for two tickets = $504.

An AP is $499 and is automatically a park hopper (as well as other discounts available on some merchandise and meals.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #7, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

But the "Fun In The Sun" ticket is all the Orlando Parks that are not Disney.

Undercover tourist sells a fun in the sun ticket good for 14 days that is a great deal.

Also, OP already has tickets in their package & doesn't need tickets, discounted or otherwise if they just remove tickets from their room key at hotel concierge and use them once and then upgrade to AP at the park ticket center.

I like the idea that one person had of doing only 1 persons tickets the first day to make sure dining still works. If theirs don't work any ticket in the package can be used for the credits. Then they can work on getting theirs fixed when they get back to the hotel. If it works OK then the next day they can upgrade everyone elses.

Thank You once again for this info....there will be 2 people including me, all adults no children for our wedding anniversary trip.

Now I am seriously considering upgrading to AP from the info I have been given from you all, I was just scared our free dining promotion would get messed up, it is a bit scary as with free dining I am not budgeting much for food so if something goes wrong, my expensive trip to WDW from Australia gets messed up. But so long getting a AP upgrade for my MYW w/Free Dining does not void any terms and conditions in the free dining promotion I def will get it....

No, it certainly won't void anything. Once you've checked-into your resort, there's nothing you can do to void the terms of the package (except for committing a crime or something crazy like that). Numerous DISers have endured problems caused by inexperienced cast members who didn't do comething correctly ... but none of those experiences occurred because the guest's request voided any entitlement. The worst that will happen is you will have to wait and fret while they figure out how to fix what they broke, but please rest assured that they WILL fix it (if they mess it up).

I am pretty sureyou would have no problem with your plan. You are using 2 separate tickets. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing, you're not breaking any rules. There is no rule that says you can only visit 2 parks in one day if you purchase a PH..the only restriction is that you cannot isit 2 parks in one day on a non ph multi day pass...but this is not what you are trying to do - you will have 2 different tickets. In this particular case, since you only want to do 2 parks in a day the one time, and will be buying 2 separate tickets anyway, it would make more sense to add a day to one and use it to "park hop" than adding unlimited PH to an entire ticket.
