2 new ships - what must features should they plan into the design?

One of the cruise we went on did have one of the officers give and astronomy class on the upper deck. They eventually arranged to have the lights turned off on the front of the ship for us.
I wouldn't mind doing that one night. I bought my son a stars book, took it with us a few cruises and forgot to even open it.

Why not an exclusive attraction for the Seas for instance like Soaring is in Epcot make a "Cruising" where the "ship" can take you on. A 4D adventure into volcanos, the Arctic, and even uncover Atlantis. Or if that's too far fetched something like a toy story midway mania on board - I think that would be tons of fun for people.

I think it would be nice to maybe bring something of the park feeling onboard too for people.

I'd pay good money to do this. Seriously. I'd probably pay $100 or perhaps even more just to have an astronomy class and two or three hours with no topside lights washing out the dark nighttime sky.

Not at all. I'm sorry you feel that way.

I was just pointing out that it can't be done. Disney got into trouble with this law when they were first doing the Alaska cruises. And many people don't understand that it's a real issue.

They've stopped in Ensenada, Mexico on the Hawaiian cruises before, right. These were one way between L.A. and Oahu.

But my suggestion would be Vancouver to Oahu, and vice versa. This covers the problem (and is actually the one they're doing this year.)

On the Los Angeles round trip Hawaii cruises, yes. Closed loop cruises only require any foreign port for a stop. A one-way Hawaii to Los Angeles requires a distant foreign port.

There were no one-way LA/Hawaii cruises on DCL. The most recent Hawaii cruises are one-way from/to Vancouver.

Disney has always been extremely innovative when it comes to cruising. What features could they add or plan into the design? They'll probably add everything that has already worked so wonderfully and some other crazy creative things I can't think of :P How about a cloaking device to make it look like a floating death star or helicarrier

This is just a rumor I heard while on board the Wonder last week so it's probably not true but one of the CMs said he heard Shanghai Disney was going to be part of one of the new ships. He wasn't sure if it was going to be stationed to sail out of or to that region, or if they were just going to use that theme with the interior decor, but he claims that's what he heard. Even if this is not true, it got me excited thinking of the new itineraries they may add with these new ships! I can't wait for more information to be public.

With the wildfire of news confirming the intent to add to the DCL family of ships, what new feature should Disney include in the design of the new ships?

Some have mentioned larger capacity staterooms (6+). What about more teen/tween activity based areas (rock climbing, surfing, indoor sky-diving).

What attraction or feature will make these additions a must book ship?
Larger Adult Pools...

Here is my brilliant idea that I am sure would never work logistically but I still think it would be amazing! Also, I had this idea the day before they announced the two new ships so I feel like that's a sign! So, it is a retractable swimming pool at the part of the ship that is at sea level that can extend into the ocean and use the ocean water! It would be like a colander on the sides and bottom so the water would constantly changing yet no sea life could enter the pool. Genius. Or not.

Well, that would work for those of us us don't need heated water to even get into the pool.

There will be a signifcant drag added to the ship, reducing fuel efficiency.

Making the Rainforest room closer to what it is on the Magic, as opposed to the Fantasy.. or having sections for both feels.

Just a few basic improvements would really kick it up a notch.

Moving walkways. A conveyor belt of food to my room. Transporter rooms to avoid flight / drive home. Maybe they can just make them giant hovercrafts so they can actually dock at Disney World. Deck side catapults for grumpy people ruining others' pleasant vacation. Magic Lamp with genie for each guest. Laser beams cause they are cool. Oh and add liposuction to the spa so I can eat as much as I want on the cruise and not get too much fatter.

Can we get on these right away?

The type of elevators that you request the floor you want from the outside panel and no buttons on the inside of the elevator.
This increases the efficiency of the elevators and keeps kids from pushing all the buttons inside the elevator.

An additional kids club that is open for kids and adults all the time so they don't have to close the other clubs for "open house"

A) Seriously doubt you will EVER see a casino on a Disney ship. Many people have made that clear that no casino is one of the reasons they choose DCL.

B) Why the need for separate bathrooms? If you identify and dress as a female you should be allowed to use female bathrooms. If you identify and dress as a male, you should be allowed to use male bathrooms. Simple.

WOW you dont get that it was a satirical post????

For the 4th or 5th time, to me, Cabanas at night is more of a restaurant-feel than a dining room feel. It would be nice to have the MTD option AND a buffet at night for those who want it. Every other cruiseline I've looked at DOES have a buffet option in the evening, which is nice if you don't want to deal with a dining room my time or fixed.

I've seen you say this a bunch. Can you please explain what you mean by a restaurant feel rather than a dining room feel?

I've never been to Cabanas at night. I always thought it was a buffet. What exactly is the service there?

You realize you need to hit a foreign port, correct?

Technically they don't have to. It just becomes MUCH more expensive so no one does it. Sad in a way. Speaks volumes twoard America's problems with competition in a global market.
