Do you need to book a deluxe family cabin with 2 adults, 2 kids and an infant? Or can you just do a standard stateroom with the crib next to the kids beds?

You'll need a Cat. 4 or better for 5 people.

Disney will not allow you to put 5 people in a room smaller than a Cat 4. You only options are either a Cat 1, 2, 3 or 4 or two connecting smaller rooms (Cat 10 or Bigger).

Many folk find it cheaper to book two Cat 10s than one Cat 4.

You'll either have to book a category 4 or higher, or book two lower category staterooms. DCL doesn't care the ages of people occupying a room like the WDW resorts (Ie some resorts are fine with 4 and one under 3). If you're 5 people, regardless of age, you need a cabin that will hold 5 people. You receive a key for EVERYONE in your party (even an infant) so they can keep track of who and who isn't on board.

We are leaving on the Wonder Sunday and everyone is right. You have to have a Category 4 or higher or 2 smaller rooms. We are traveling with a 12 yo, 3 yo and 1 yo. It was $3,000 cheaper to book two category 10 connecting rooms . Actually, I think it will out better for us because we will have 2 bathrooms.

Thanks for the ideas! Geez, in more ways than one, a new baby can make some major changes in your life! LOL!

I will look into the 2 cabin idea. I was just put off by the cost of the cat 4, especially after travelling in a cat 11! But the kids are dying to go back again, we had such fun the last time!

Privacy is one important benefit of going with two cabins... ;)

We have 3 kids as well, and we have always opted for 2 cat 10 cabins instead of a cat 4. It's usually less expensive and provides us with some much needed privacy. We can just shut the connecting door on our side (with a baby monitor turned on of course). :p
