2 For The Price of 1: One Trip Done; One More to Plan!

Cammie - Thanks to you & Ellen I'm changing our lunch plans for our arrival day. We haven't been to Fulton's in almost 10 years and y'all have said such great things about it. Also the Bloody Mary there is calling my name.;) We love chilled seafood (crab, shrimp, etc) any recommendations? I saw a chilled seafood platter for two on the lunch menu that sounds awesome!:goodvibes

Can't wait to meet up with you, Ellen & Lauren later that day!:yay:

I am forced to come out of lurking on your trip reports because of the questions you had about flying. I am not sure where in MA you are located but I wanted to let you know that you could fly Southwest out of Manchester, NH. Usually you can get really reasonable flights and Southwest is great to fly with. No extra charges for baggage or anything. Currently they are only booking until January 9th. If you sign up for "Ding" they will automatically notify you when the dates open. There also is a hotel at the airport where you can stay and park your vehicle for only $5.00 a day.

And just wanted to let you know I love you last trip report and can't wait for more. I am going with my daughter at the end of August and it was fun reading about a mother/daugher trip. Helps me pass the time. :thumbsup2

Have never flown JetBlue....I fly so infrequently. Next flying trip will probably be to D.C. next summer. (I know how to die a slow, humid death....Florida and D.C. in the summer)

Oh, I LOVE chilled seafood too! Never have gotten the platter for two though because I can't get my daughter to eat it with me! I do love their Alaskan King Crab legs and claws though!

And, yes, you still better make it over to the ESPN club later that day; don't get too comfy at Fultons with those Bloody Marys!;)

First of all, thanks for coming out of lurkdom and I'm glad you enjoyed my trip report. So excited for you that you've got your own mother/daughter trip coming up so soon! I'm sure you'll both have a blast and hope you will do a trip report yourself when you get back. Where are you staying?

As for the DINGS - oh, yeah, it's downloaded!:thumbsup2 I was keeping track of flights for our past June trip. I'm in Hopkinton, so Providence was the easier drive for me. And I'm a little nervous about choosing Manchester to fly out of in Feb. - thinking with it being a smaller airport and in NH, that weather may screw things up there sooner than it would in Boston. But, hey, if the right price came around, I just may take that chance!

You do like to sweat, don't you?:lmao:

Cammie - I have a friend who really likes Jet Blue. We only have SWA here with some others, but it is by far the cheapest. Most of the time I just do my checkin 24 hours to the minute and get around A36 or better most of the time. It isn't an assigned seat, but it is pretty close to wherever you want. I'm not so picky about where I sit though.

I was going to suggest DING, but I saw you have it running. Do you also have their email specials? That is something seperate you have to sign up for. Sometime they have better deals. That is where I got the deal for my SIL ticket.

As for Lauren, oh Cammie - if you can keep your mouth shut  that would be the BEST suprise ever. CAN YOU????? You should. OH, it would be so great! But then how would you pack? See - back and forth I go. But if you could... :cloud9:

Awaiting those photos you promised... :cloud9:

Was wondering where you were - thought maybe you were away doing something fun!:goodvibes

(seriously, by week's end, I would have pm'd you and Ellen with the link!)

I'm baaaacckkk!! I am SOOOO HAPPY you decided to do the pre-trippie! I feel like I haven't "spoken" to you two in ages, and I think it's only been about a week! Anyway, I was at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort last week (to answer the HHIR ? on your TR) and it was FANTASTIC! I started my TR, here's a link if you're interested in hearing about it-

You are gonna LOVE Fulton's- looked like they had a huge selection of chilled seafood, and November is the season for Stone Crab Claws- YUMMY!!!!

Can't wait to read more, Cammie!

Oops! I also wanted to add that alot of my friends fly out of Newark on JetBlue, and they LOVE it- everyone gets their own tv with a choice of channels- it sounds awesome! And they say the seats are comfy. They are having a sale, but so far doesn't include Feb-

Have any of you guys flown JetBlue before? I'm anxiously waiting for them to release their fares for Feb. and thought they would do it six months in advance. As of this morning - nothing! I don't feel like my Feb. trip is real until I book my airfare. I know, I'm weird that way; but I figure once I buy those non-refundable tix, there's no turning back!

I usually fly Delta and get good deals with them as long as I book way in advance. I purchased our tix for our Nov. trip this past Jan. and only paid $237 a ticket! The same flight today is costing over $700; and that's the same price I'm finding for airfare in Feb. with them. Good grief - I think it would be financially irresponsible of me to pay $1500 for two tickets to Florida!:scared1: (not saying I wouldn't do it; just don't think it would be responsible!;) )

So if I rule out Delta, that leaves AirTran or JetBlue out of Boston. I refuse to book AirTran because they seem to be in the nasty habit lately of cancelling their non-stop flights. I could also look at SWA out of Providence, which is what we flew in June. We had a very pleasant experience; although I must admit I don't like not having pre-assigned seats. But Providence is not as close as Boston to us; and I'm thinking, in Feb., with weather being unpredictable, I'd rather be flying out of the airport closest to my home.

So, this is where I'm at.......I sit......and I wait for JetBlue!:surfweb:

Cammie I just heard on the news that SWA is the ONLY airline that posted profits last quarter! They do have good service. I also like AirTran. I'm worried about JetBlue though. These discount airlines are more than likely going to go away I think. Now that they're charging $80 per persn in fuel surcharges, I just don't see an end to the high prices for airfare.

I have some friends trying to convinve to drive down to Jersey and fly out of Newark - think it would be cheaper than from Boston. I could stay with my parents - they literally live 20 minutes from the airport. I'm just waiting for those Feb. to come out!:surfweb:

You see, now I'm worried about AirTran - I heard they were in bigger trouble. I kept an eye on their flights when I was looking for our trip this past June. Seriously, I watched them take some of their NS flights and make them 1-stops; that would really tick me off!!!!

Cammie, I just now heard on the news that JetBlue is jumping on the surcharge bandwagon, charging $7 for pillow and blanket, as well as the fuel surcharge. Before long, you're going to be paying $5 for each shoe, too! But I guess I can't blame the airlines. They are all losing money, and if I'm gonna fly I want to fly with a company that is making enough money to keep the planes in good shape, kwim?

Hi Cammie! I have missed reading your TR-I'm glad you started your PTR! Maybe it'll inspire me to start one of my own for my Thanksgiving trip. Anyway, good luck on the airfare. We're lucky because we're only about 7 hours away so we can drive. Hope the girls are well-
Anne:)

I just sighed when I read this, Anne. I soooo wish I was close enough to drive!:sad2:

Hi Cammie,

I was a lurker on your other trip report and followed you over here. I wanted to add my 2 cents about Jet Blue. My daughter and I took a short father/daughter trip in March and flew Jet Blue. I have flown quite a bit for work and usually use Continental (Newark is their hub so they have the most flights). I have to say that I was very pleased with Jet Blue. The leg room on the flight was quite good and the TV screens on the back of the seats was great. Everybody could watch what they wanted. My daughter has flown Jet Blue 2 other times and she really loves it. We are going back for Pin Trading University in the beginning of September. We are using Continental this time because I am using my frequent flier miles so it isn't costing us anything. If it wasn't for that we would have used Jet Blue again.

Good luck finding a good airfare and I can't wait to hear more.

Thank you for your input - and thanks for following me over here! I really am counting on flying JetBlue for my Feb. trip; I'm just hoping their prices aren't as sky high as Delta's! Now, if they would just release those flights!

BTW - where in Jersey are you from? I'm a Bayonne girl, born and raised!:thumbsup2

I read your whole report this weekend... and want be onboard for this new one. Sorry about the airfare watching... it is crazy.

I am another "lurker" from your TR & I took this whole morning to read it--Yes I am late for work, but luckily I am the boss, so no one can say anything!! hee hee! I loved your TR--I am a sucker for pics & lady, you deliver!! Cant' wait to follow this PTR. Also, I wanted to make a comment on the President's week crowds--they are "CRAZY"! But I don't think they are any worse than the summer crowds & at least it is not sweltering hot. ( I am not a Hot weather person at all!) We met up w my fam Feb '06 & I couldn't believe waits for the MK rides exceeded 60 & 90 minutes; but it appears that's what you dealt with in your last trip, so you are a pro w/FP & skipping the busy times. I think you'll do fine! Looking forward to following along.....Debbie

I'm from a small town in Morris County called Cedar Knolls. It is near Morristown.

I've never been - but it sounds lovely. And I KNOW Morris County is ALOT nicer than Hudson County!

I'm watching for everything right now - waiting on airfares; waiting for Disney to post Feb.hours...........:surfweb: :rolleyes1

Hi Debbie - glad you're a poster now, and a lurker no more! Thanks for the heads up about the crowds during Presidents' week - I figured as much. It's the reason why I would never attempt these busy times when I have my older DD who's in a wheelchair. It would just be too overwhelming for me! But with just me and my youngest, we can get up and out earlier and move alot quicker. Especially without the sweltering temps!

And, because we're so fortunate to be able to go twice a year, I don't feel the pressure to do everything; just the rides that are most important to us. Actually, Lauren (my DD) told me should she's so happy to be there with just me, she'd be content with just walking around the parks, if that's all we could do!:lovestruc

Hi there! I grew up in Florham Park!:goodvibes

Love to see my NJ peeps gathering here!

Hi Amy - thanks for reading; and THANKS for the pixiedust! Now if there was some way I could turn that pixiedust into cold hard cash, I wouldn't care what the airfare was!:rotfl:
