2 DVC Addicts share the world
June 4-13th!
Hot snot(Vettechick), its a trip report! I (almost) guarantee a vomit-free(Zzub) environment. You wont need a fastpass(Mel) to enjoy it and hopefully it will make you want to LALA and grab your MELONS! Am I a lurker, or what???
That being said, welcome to a trip involving 10 family members and 2 years worth of planning.
Care to join me in a flashback? In 2000, my generous parents decided that the WHOLE family (3 grown up kids and spouses, 6 grandkids, Memaw and Papaw) should go on the church trip to DisneyWorld
! This meant riding a BUS (I know
) from Texas to WDW, staying at Dixie Landings (AB) for 5 nights and touring the World with a group that ranged from 14 to 50+ people at times. WHEW! It was fun, but fraught with much drama and sometimes tension.
For example, my brother changed jobs just before the trip and couldn't stay the entire time. So he rode on a BUS (I know
) for two days so that he could spend one night in the World and fly out in the middle of the night to make it back to said new job. His wife and 4 kids stayed in the room connecting to my parents so that they could help my sister in law. Unfortunately, the soon to be ex-sister in law (although we did not know it at the time that THAT was about to happen) could not find ANYTHING to be happy about in Disney World---not that the trip was FREE, not that she was there with family, not that she got to share the World with her beautiful, healthy childrennothing! It was sad! She didnt let them stay up past bedtime (8 oclock), insisted on naps and kept the connecting door between the rooms closed and locked most of the time. More often than not, she would take the kids off on her own and the rest of the family didnt get much time with them. In her defense, shes a nice person, but there were obviously problems in that marriage that we did not know about and some we still dont understand to this day
Sadly, the 12 year marriage fell apart right after we came home from the trip. The memories of the trip were quickly lost in the shuffle of a marriage involving 4 kids under the age of 10 coming to an end.
By the way, it was on this trip that my husband and I bought our DVC share at BWV! We had been every year for 5 years prior to this trip and realized that our stays could be longer and much more luxurious if we joined up.
Fast forward to the summer of 2004---the family has settled down, my brother married a wonderful woman who LOVES his kids that we all love and were all swimming in my parents pool on a hot summer day. The idea hatched that my husband and I would skip a summer (GASP) of DVC wonderfulness so that we could bank some points and take the fam. We extended the invite and were happy when my brother and (new, happy) sister in law quickly accepted. My parents decided to join in, too! My sister, her husband and their two boys had other plans, but everyone else was a go! Add to the plan to have my Mimi fly with us to Florida to visit family while we are there and were in for a fun filled adventure!
Heres the cast and crew details:
Me(Jill)First grade teacher, Mickey fanatic and lover of the Mango MargaritaYUM!
DH(David)HS Theater Teacher, computer geek and biggest Disney Kid on the trip.
Mom & Dad(Janie and Joe)my parents, along for the ride and looking forward to the wine, beer, Flower and Garden at EPCOT and spending time on the balconies at the BWV.

Niece(Kara) 16---so excited! Remembers the most of all the kids of the above ill-fated trip and is looking forward to a stress free, stayin up late, eatin dessert good time!
Nephews(Jordan 13, Jeremy 11, Jonathan 7)ready for anythingcant wait to get the party started!
We will be FLYING (no bus, BAD bus
) out of DFW on Sunday. The extended family is staying June 4-9, then David and I are continuing on until the 13th. Weve got a 2 BR Boardwalk View(for the kids and big kids) and a Boardwalk View Studio(for the grandparents) bookedDavid and I will move to the studio once the rest of the fam goes home. Were doing the dining plan, so we should have some great meals and stories to share!
We are blessed to be able to share this adventure with our family! Wow! Did you read all that? Im taking the lap top, so Ill TRY to do some updates from the World with pictures!
See ya real soon!
