2 bedroom points & Cash Reservation question

Hi again,

I just called MS to make a reservation for a 2-bedroom 11 nights for (Jan 2006) . I have to buy 1 night cash as I am running short on points. I thought I would choose a Friday or Saturday night as those nights require more points. The Friday night and Sat night fall in the middle of the vacation. Also, MS said they do not have any rooms for the dvc discount and are not yet showing any rates yet for cash.

Should I call CRO to book this 1 night, which would result in a reservation like this dvc points for the first 5 nights, then cash for 1 night and then points for the last 4 nights. I dont want to risk having to change rooms, so maybe I should wait to see what MS will have in the future? When do the rooms normally open up for cash sale or dvc discounts for January?

I would see if you can get it through CRO, you can always cancel it but you'll have it as a backup (if it is available). DVC only opens cash rooms when they anticipate they will not be needed for points reservations. It's probably too early for them to make that call. I would keep checking back with member services to see if they open any cash rooms up, I don't think there is any set date. I just booked a cash night at OKW for May for a Saturday night.

Where are you trying to book. I booked cash nights for my December 2005 at SSR at the 11 month window. I booked cash for a one br, 2br and GV. I allready have the member discount for friday 12/09 for the GV. Haven't been able to book the Saturday at the discount but did get the cash price. I call about 2 times per week to check for the saturday night. I could have gotten the discount for the 2br friday night but non members are staying in the other rooms. I used points for weekdays and cash for the weekend to extend our stay. Stay will be 12/04/05--12/15/05. Susan

HMMM, Maybe the cash rates arn't out for 2006 yet. I think it's to early to be able to book through CRO. I would go ahead and book your nights you need with points and call back weekly for the cash and cash discount.Tell MS what you plan to do,they have been very helpfull with my ressie's. I'm sure you won't have a problem getting a cash night. By january all of the first phase of buildings will be complete and DVC won't have sold out so you shouldn't have a problem. Susan
