Welcome!

I have put together a spreadsheet of everyone who is going to be participating in our DIS Meet. If you would like to have a copy of it, PM me and I'll get your info from you. Thanks!

Denise

The excitement of planning has been replaced by the panic that I won't get everything done in time!!! I went to Walmart today and bought sunscreen and bonine. Tomorrow I'm getting the suitcases out of the basement and laying them open in the spare room. Then I can start packing--yay!!!

Hi All,

I posted forever ago. Life has settled down enough to jump completely into cruise prep. One big problem though... I gained weight during the holidays and no longer fit in any of my cruise clothes. Yikes!

As a quick recap... my name is Renée Pate and my DH Stephen (46) will be with me on the cruise. We have been married 15 years, no children, and have been annual passholders at Disneyland for some time now. (We were at Disneyland yesterday on our way home from visiting family in San Francisco.) I will be celebrating my 40th b'day on board (2/9). This is our first "real" vacation (usually spend our time off near home or visiting family.) We love everything Disney, especially the Disney magic and kids. Therefore, we could not imagine our first cruise on any other line. We live 30 miles north of San Diego (in Escondido) and will be flying in on the 4th. Any other Californians on board? I work in the computer industry (quality assurance) and my husband is in the movie industry (tranportation cooridnator). In our spare time we are busy with our small zoo (2 dogs and 4 cats), church, and family history. I am looking forward to meeting new friends who enjoy the Disney magic just like us.

Regards, Renée

Renee, we are from California too!
DS2, DW and I were also at DLR over the past weekend for New Year's. I kind of enjoyed the "cold"/rain here recently. We're from West Covina, CA. Are you flying from San Diego or John Wayne? We'll be in the Orlando area starting 1/29

Almost to the 30 day mark!

I haven't posted in a while as my DS10 is a cross country runner and made it to the National Junior Olympics where he finished in the top 25 to win "All American" honors...it's kept us really busy.

We are so excited to be so close to cruising...this is my second and his third! He's really excited to see so many boys his age will be on board...he doesn't really like the clubs and is always looking for someone to hang out with.

We'll be at the DIS meet on board, and we look forward to meeting everyone! :wave2:

Hi everyone! We're on this cruise too! I am so stinking excited! I also have a 10 yr old boy - lol. He'll probably move down into the 8-9 yr old club group so his cousin won't be alone.
We're a large group of 18. I bought this cruise as a gift for my parents. My sister's family is going, and now my inlaws paid for themselves, us and my brother in laws and fams. Hardly anyone in our group is paying for ourselves! We have 5 rooms, 11 adults, 7 kids. And yes, we've all got matching t'shirts to wear when boarding.
We're staying at the Radisson and are booked on the first shuttle to the port!
Wow! Did I mention I am so stinking excited!!

Oops forgot to ask a question. We are planning on taking others advice and swimming soon after boarding early. Then I realized, we'll still be in Florida at that point! Will it be too cold to swim? Anyone know?
Thanks!

Well, this week it is in the 70s, so swimming might be OK. When we boarded last January, it was in the low 60s - no swimming. But you can hang out in the hot tubs if you can stand it getting to and from them.

Howdy neighbor!

You are so lucky! (Starting vacation on 1/29.) We will be flying out of San Diego. I do not have our reservations yet (letting Disney take care of it). We should get our tickets soon. Are you flying home on 2/12? Through OC or SD?

I take it you have an annual pass to DSNYLND, too. Can't live that close and not have one. How often do you go? What's your favorite Disneyland activity? Stephen loves the train and monorail. I love the roller coaster and "Who wants to be a millionaire" at CA. We splurged and have the premium passes. Between parking, discounts and frequency we go it pays for itself. I am hoping to get up there one more time before the cruise. I want to purchase those little red name tags (near the front gate by the bank) for Stephen and I. I thought it would be fun to have them for the cruise since we will be meeting a lot of new friends.

Do you know if you are early or late dinner yet? We are on the late rotation.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Regards, Renée

Hi Renee

Yes, we splurged too and got the Premium APs. One year I had the Deluxe and DW (Leah) had the Premium for the discounts/parking, but since we knew it was going to be DL 50th it will be worth it. Its funny on the parking tram this past New Years we overheard some other guests talking about how crazy APers are to spend $$$$ on the passes and the $$$ on food, etc. But I think your statement that it pays for itself is on target. Before we were married we used to go to DL instead of going out and watching movies. Now we end up going about once a month. Even though we are pretty close, DW and I do wedding videography on the weekends so it's hard to get out there at times. Currently we are planning to be there on May 5th for the 50th opening, and the actual anniversary on June 5(?) hopefully. Our favorite activity at DLR is actually just watching DS2 (Jaylen) interact with all the sights and sounds there. Speaking of Millionaire. I was lucky enough to get to the hot seat when the thing just opened. I lost on the 125K point question, thus giving me a 35K point polo and pins. I always wondered how many DCL cruises were awarded for the million point question at DCA. Those red name tags are a great idea. Leah has been getting DL pins to hopefully do some trading at WDW and on board.

We actually fly to LAX on 2/12, both our flights are non-stops because of DS. Did you go through a TA or through DCL directly. I guess the next big thing are the docs. We went though a TA so our docs may take longer. Its just a little scary because we leave for Orlando a week before the cruise and from these boards it seems some get their docs sometimes a little over a week before the cruise. We are also in Late Seating. Have you booked any excursions. I can't believe that it's less than 30 days now.

See everybody poolside on 2/5!

Merv

My DH and DS (6) and DD (4) are all too excited for the big day! I'm not worried about my DD findig any friends but my DS has trouble (some times). Are all you DIS's planning on meeting somewhere on the first day?
:cool1: :cheer2:

:rockband:

Welcome the 2/5/2005 gang, It seems to be a small group of DIS members cruising with us.There is a meet scheluded for the 1st day if I remember correctly its @ 3:30 on deck 9. Then I again I could be mistaken. One of our fellow cruisers has put together a GREAT excel worksheet with all our info on it. I am sure she will get in touch with you. :cool1:

From the list there are many baoys that your DS will be able to play with. OUr DS is 9 1/2.

See you in 3 weeks. :grouphug:
