2/28/04 Magic Western...anyone onboard?

Thanks for the info, DivinDisney. I never thought to e-mail Red Sail Sports directly about the return times for the morning dives. Given that info, I'm giving up the dream of diving the Caymans this time around.

Our DD is soooo excited about snorkelling with the stingrays. She's been close to stingrays before on a snorkel at Sea Life Park, Hawaii, so she knows what to expect (I hope!). I just called Disney and changed our shore excursion to the morning (7:30 am) Stingray City Snorkel tour.

Any suggestions about what else to do for the afternoon? :sunny:

Sorry - I hit the "reply" button before I remembered your question about formal dress for kids. I don't think there is a set "dress code" for them - little girls seem to wear sundresses, or even their princess costumes, for dinner. Boys are fine in a shirt and pants. No-one expects a suit or tux on them (although they look adorable if they already have one!)

My DD has a long white dress she's been saving for "formal night" along with white platform sandals she insisted on having. (I never knew they made them in size 1 :teeth: ) They were a $5.00 "clearance sale" at the end of last summer, so I don't care too much if she only wears them once.

I don't know about you folk, but I'm ready to get on the ship already! :)

I'll be headed down that way 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Sam

I've posted this before. You can do both.Dive on your own.Eden Rock is close to the pier. They rent all the equipment you'll need. Here's their prices. The prices might be in cayman which is $1.25 American equals $1.00 Cayman it doesn't say.
65 cubic foot Tank $ 7.00
80 cubic foot Tank $ 7.00
100 cubic foot Tank $ 9.00
Nitrox 80 cubic foot $12.00
Regulator W/Octopus Console $10.00
BCD Jacket $10.00
Wet Suit $10.00
Weight Belt $ 1.00
Weights per Lbs. $ .25
Compass $ 5.00
Dive Computer $12.00
Dive Light $12.00
Divers Marker Flag $ 4.00
Mask & Snorkel $ 5.00
Fins $ 5.00
Snorkel Package $12.00

So you can dive early A.M. and still make the1:00pm stingray city boat.Plus it's cheaper diving this way. It'll cost $90.00 on DCL.But about $35.00 this way,and if you bring your reg. even cheaper. They open at 8:00am the day we are there.I'm bringing my own gear.So for 2 dives it'll cost me less than $20.00.And I'll be done by 10:30.There's also the turtle farm to do,which is really neat. They have turtles you can actually pick up and hold. These are sea turtles they have.Like Greens,Hawksbills,Loggerheads. This is something I do everytime I go to the Caymans.Well I hope this helps.Mike.

That last picture is especially cool! What sort of underwater camera are you using?

I was thinking about an underwater housing for my Nikon SLR, but that rascal is $1000 (!), so I'll be looking for something more, um, "disposable". ;)

:Pinkbounc :wave2: :wave2: No cast - that is great news!! At least swimming, etc. will not be a problem for you. Take care not to injure it any further. 2 weeks tomorrow we head to warm/sunny Fla. I am ready! This weekend is to go down to minus 14!!! enough already. Take care:earseek:

YAY lol thanks macker! and i agree that underwander shot is really cool! And here in Chicago a heat wave is coming in next week!! There calling for 40 next thursday!!!!

:( can't believe the problems totally tigger ran into today with our resi's. My granddaughter's tickets came through with last name misspelled so they had to be returned for correction. 2 out of 9 family members traveling together were confirmed for 2nd dining - made no sense to me to split up the party!! When the corrected tickets arrived today, lo and behold they also came in for 2nd dining (she is only 10 years old and was originally confirmed for 1st) TA contacted Disney and was advised to send an e-mail to be reviewed tomorrow. The attitude and treatment we have received from Disney has been UNBELIEVABLE - not caring, not willing to help, totally disinterested in what is wrong. This my 5th cruise but first with Disney. Given the attitude and treatment we have received over problems and errors which Disney created themselves, I will be hard pressed to book another with them. Sorry to sound so bitter 2 weeks before sail date but our excitement is turning to displeasure rather quickly! Okay, now that I have vented --- see ya!!

How does everyone feel about a DIS Meet Sunday morning 10am in the Promanade Lounge? Not too much going on Sunday morning, and it would be prior to arriving at Key West. It would be a chance for us to meet, exchange postcards, pins, etc.
Thoughts and/or suggestions?

Sunday is a great day for a DIS meet. We have always tried to meet at the sail away party on our last 2 cruises, but it is hard to find everybody. My family will be there Sunday at 10. What about everybody else???

Sorry - I wish the pictures were mine....but they were cut/paste from various websites from Cozumel & Grand Cayman!

Sunday sounds great for the meet.

Macker...want me to send Guido and a few of the boys over to Disney and make them an offer they can't refuse?

:scared:

Worse case, I've seen on the boards here that you still might be able to get it changed once onboard....action of last resort of course....

Macker...just read your post about the 1st & 2nd dinner seating problems. If they aren't corrected by the time you arrive on the ship, there is a place aboard ship you can go to get it corrected. Honestly, I can't see them splitting up your party. I'm confident it will be resolved.

....and yes.....it's a little after 9:30 PM and I'm still at work......these 15-18 hour days just make me look forward even more to 2/28!!!!!

:sunny: thanks for all the encouragement re: dinner resi's. Totallytigger and I keep reminding ourselves that it can be handled onboard. We are both such HUGE HUGE Disney fan's in any way shape or form, we are having trouble dealing with the attitude she has been receiving. never ran into this before!! Perhaps Disney staff is a bit stressed over the uncertainty of Disney "goings on" and all that is in the news these days! Whatever!!

jbix200 - what's up with your long hours? that certainly would make the 28th more inviting than ever! Sunday am sounds good to me also, I'll check with totallytigger on that one. See everyone soon!!

Macker - new position at work taking up more & more time...a lot of the work I have to do on the computer network can only be done AFTER everyone else has left for the day...(sigh)....just plop me in a lounge chair, slip a konk kooler into my hand and everything will be alright again.....

:goodvibes

Hey, JBix00 - what sort of work do you do with computer networks? DH and I are both network administrators as well - he with NT Web Servers and I with Novell, Groupwise, and Windows 2000.

We well know what you mean about the long hours - I was at the office at 3:00 am Saturday morning, trolling the boards looking for ANYONE still posting at that time while I waited for a top-down rebuild to complete. We sometimes joke about having to schedule our emergencies - we're going to forget DD somewhere one of these days!

A conch cooler sounds good - it might sound even better if I was sure what it was :hyper: other than a drink. Any descriptions???

Just counting the days ...
