2/11/13 Wonder Sweetheart Cruise

For those driving from out of state you must get a "sun pass". The Florida turnpike does not accept cash. Anything lower than Orlando needs it. We just found this out, thankfully, by accident today. You an go inline and order it and it takes about 7 days to get it or go to cvs or publix in Florida to get it as well. If not your tolls are sent as a ticket to your home and you are charged more. Ugh it's always something!

Welcome to the group and Disboards.
You are doing exactly what we are doing in terms of dates for the flights.
We fly from Buffalo to FLL on the 10th and stay 3 extra nights after in Fort Lauderdale, flying back on the 19th.
I found the prices in Miami very expensive and decided to stay in Fort Lauderdade after the cruise.
We got a room at the Holiday Inn Plantation through Hotwire for 100.00 a night plus taxes.

Camilo

How are you getting from your Ft Lauderdale hotel to the port on Monday? I've been looking into it and probably going to do a car service? Any recommendations?

Just booked the 2/11/13 Wonder cruise! My family would very much like to join in on the FE group as well as the meet and greet.

Our "Disname" is Country Charmer

Our real names are: Dawn **turning 50 on cruise**! Female
Matthew - husband - Male 47; Arissa - teen girl - 16 and Daya - teen girl -14.

Thank you!

Booked this quite spontaneously. Had originally booked 2/8-2/14 at WDW while youngest was part of National Cheerleading Competition, but then saw the cruise and thought what a deal and figured we could do both... 3 days at WDW for cheering competition and then the cruise for 5 days!

My only thoughts of concern are getting from Coronado Springs to Miami cruise port, but I am sure it will all work out.

Welcome to the group! I will add you to the FE and repost when I'm more awake in a little bit :) We are driving part way from Delaware, hitting the auto train and then finishing the drive in Florida. Good luck to your daughter in her competition. My daughter actually wants to try cheer, finally, didn't want to follow moms footsteps at first.

Only one thing missing..do you have a room number?

Hello there,

My husband and I are taking our first cruise ever on the DCL. It's an extra special vacation for us as my husband has been serving in the Army for the last year in Afghanistan. He returns at the end of the month!
We took our first Disney vacation two years ago and stayed at the Shades of Green resort on the WDW campus, and hope to stay at an actual Disney resort next time we go to WDW.
I'm super excited about it and keep learning new tips and tricks every time I look online. Today I found DISboards after learning about Fish Extenders.

I want in! I was reading through the thread an it looks like I have not yet missed the deadline. I'm not sure that my husband will be as enthusiastic about the FE project as me, but he usually is game for anything fun. So, can we join?

Thanks folks! I can't wait!

Absolutely! Welcome to the group. A huge thank you to you, your husband and your family:). I will add you to my list later after school and my kids fundraiser tonight

Hi all! I SO excited!! 31 days!!! Just curious how big the FE list is now? I think the last I saw it was 9 cabins. Just curious as I'm still debating joining and I saw it was extended. Just want to make sure I have the $$ to make it fun! I know me and I'll have to do something for everyday and want it nice so I'm just checking in! :)

Also, driving from Mobile and haven't booked my hotel for Sunday night. Any ideas that isn't outrageous. It's 7 of us total...

Hello! We are up to 10 cabins right now. I'm waiting on one cabin number, but will post the new list. I'm an everyday person too, I like giving them something to look forward to. I had extended it because we only had like 4 cabins, over the last 24-36 hours everyone is joining. On the 2/7 cruise we are at 5 cabins as of now.

Jessica - any issues with me stopping by on the cruise meet? Unfortunately we won't be participating in the FEs (kids are teen boys and not really interested).

BTW - regarding tolls - what if you drive down I95? Do you still need a sunpass?

No problem for the cruise meet. Everyone is welcome:). If you drive down 95 you either need to purchase a sunpass or have them mail you a bill but you will be charged more if they bill you. Anything past Orlando takes the sunpass. We ordere one thurs night and it was mailed today.

I found this lady, Marion, recommended to us on different phone calls by the hotel we are staying the night before, Best Western in Hallandale. She has her own van (holds 15 people) which she uses when hired by other companies for transfers. We will have a "test drive" to see if she is reliable (she seemed to be on the phone) as she will also pick us up at the airport the night before.

Where are you staying the night before in Fort Lauderdale? Close to the hotel above?
And what time are you going to the port? We are checking in at 11:00 AM and asked her to pick us up at 10:00 AM. There are 7 of us and she is charging us 10.00 per person.

So either prepay $10 and pay the $5 for the sunpass mini, or do the tolls-by-plate. So far, coming down via i-95, it looks like about $10 in tolls, with around $1 in savings by using sunpass. I should avoid the $3 fee if I preregister with tools-by-plate.

That might be the best approach...

BTW, staying at the Hamton Inn Blue Lagon. But on points, so will park at the port.

We are staying a little ways away at country inn and suites unless we can find something closer and cheaper for 5. It's like 45 mins from port. I wish there was one closer to port:/

Ok ok ok. We are IN for FE!! I've been thinking about it a lot and ill regret it if I don't! But, we have 2 cabins (us in one and in laws in other). We have total of 3 kids (2 in mine and 1 with inlaws) traveling. So it is ok if just my cabin does it and I have all 3 kids on one extender? My inlaws don't want to participate. MIL says she's not crafty and doesn't have time. Lol. Is that ok? Don't want to leave a kid out! We originally had just our two kids and decided to invite my son's girlfriend at the last minute so that's why we are split in cabins... ! :)

So if that's ok, here we are...

Cabin #2629
Charles - Adult
Candace - Adult
Caleb - DS 17
Carter - DS 9
Macalah - DS's girlfriend 18

No one has any allergies

What else do you need from me? Also my email address is candle0817 at gmail.com

Yay! So excited! Now to get busy. Also celebrating our anniversary on the ship so it'll be fabulous!

I booked with a TA and I have Disney gift cards. Anyone know if I can call DCL and go she's and apply them?

Also, anyone have suggestions for excursion for our family with the kids range 9-18 that's fun but won't break the bank?

Sorry! Our cabin # is 2101. Possibly this will change (hoping my overtime will come in so we can change to a verandah)! Also, there are no allergies in our family.

Thank you for allowing us to join in on the fun.

Hi, welcome to the group....
From what I read, you can apply the gift cards at Guest Services, once you board.
I have a 100.00 card ready to apply to my account, once we board.

We will be doing 2 beach days on the 2 stops: Paradise Beach in Cozumel and Royal Palms in Grand Cayman. I left a couple of links about this a few pages back.

Hope it helps...

Sounds like a deal. Did you switch your hotel from the Holiday Inn Plantation to the Best Western? I guess I thought I saw that somewhere here earlier. I booked a Marriott Courtyard on points but it is not close to Hallandale. Although that area appears to be much closer to port than where I am now. I may just switch it. I tried to keep the points low while still getting free shuttle from the Ft L airport. So you're paying for both the shuttle from the airport and then to the port the next morning, right? May be worth it for private transport with your group. I'm still deciding my best option. Thanks for the intel.
