We're heading to WDW on Friday so I need to get this figured out quick. I was thinking that I might add the DDP for our 2 1/2 year old. He's an ok eater but just likes your typical toddler food: chicken fingers, hot dogs, pizza, etc....

Would it be worth the $9.99 a day to get him his own DDP? I know he could eat off my plate but I don't want to be consigned to a trip full of toddler food. We would probably end up with way more CS credits that what we'd need but considering the prices of TS kids meals and snacks, we could come out ok.

What do you think? Has anyone else done this?

You wouldn't be able to add your 2 1/2 year old on your DDP as the staring age is 3. If you were to fudge his age so that he's 3, you would have to buy him a park ticket. The savings could be negligible if you have to buy him park tickets.

I don't think you can have the dining plan for a under 3 year old. I think the dining plan is for only people that have at least 1 day ticket - which a 2 year old would not.

Your best bet would be to just pay OOP for the 2 year old.

I may be wrong though.

Hmmm...we're DVC members staying in a DVC villa who don't need park tickets to add the Dining Plan. Wouldn't that make a difference?

We did this last year. My daughter was turning 3 June 10, and our check out date was June 1. Since we were DVC members, we were allowed to add a DP, without purchasing a park ticket for her. We did this last summer..........

You can put a 2.5 year old on DDP, but you have to have them on the reservation as age 3. The DDP cannot be purchased for a child under the age of 3.

If you are an AP holder with a room/dining package or a DVC member, shouldn't be a problem. You'll just pay $9.99 a night and have an extra three-year-old on your reservation. But if you are booking a package with tickets, you will have to buy the child park tickets if you present them as 3 years old.

Since you are a DVC member staying on points, you would need only to place this child on your reservation as a 3 year old and buy the dining plan for him.
