***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Do you guys ever get tired of planning the nitty gritty? Once I have my ADR's and FP's I usually feel pretty set.

Yes, kind of. Today I tried to figure out a touring plan to hit the pavilions in Epcot in some sort of orderly fashion. We have 4 or 5 days there, so it's tempting to just do things as we feel like doing them, but I suspect we would regret taking that approach.

You know, it's so funny to hear everyone talking about their RD plans. Can you believe I have never once in my life been to a park at or before RD?! :scared1: lol. We'll have to see what happens on this trip, maybe it'll be a first for me, haha. I tend to be a night owl though, as opposed to a morning person, so it might not happen!

And, I just did my first ever room request. I'm using the TP fax option, which is so darn cool! (this is my first time having a paid TP subscription). The 2nd half of my split stay is at OKW and that resort is just sooo sprawling! We'll see if I end up getting my request. I'm debating putting in a request for SS too, not sure yet. I do have location preferences already chosen for my online check-in, and the resort isn't as sprawling, with fewer areas that I'd be unhappy to be in. Hmm, still have to decide.
I've never done rope drop either! You and I are a lot alike, disneybelle! I plan to do rd on 12/6... Going to hs the day before, and fantasmic should end about 7:30... So early night for us. Flying to Orlando on 12/5, and we will have been up since 5am and we will be tired....and that's the only way we could get up and out so early.

It's our first trip with a little one so I would want to be more informed and plan a little more with the option to drop and change plans immediately. I didn't plan when we went as adults but I now feel the need to get as much information as I can!

I've never planned Disney before. I've gone many times since I was a kid and an adult, and never made an ADR in advance. I've used fast passes but only ever off the ticket I purchased at the ticket booth the same day. Geez, I didn't even know you could book fast passes in advance prior to this planning this trip this year!

However, my DH really hates Disney, so I feel that I need to do everything in my power to minimize waits and make the day flow better. He is very impatient and if a line is longer than 5-10 minutes he will get irritated. My kids are probably more line patient than he is, LOL! He also has an awful poker face and I can instantly tell when he is annoyed which makes it a downer for me. His only trip to Disney was 6 years ago when we did a 4 day trip to Universal and Disney. On our first of two Disney days (we'd planned full days at Epcot and Hollywood Studios), he flipped out saying how he should have pushed for going to Kennedy Space Center because Epcot was awful. I ended up in tears at customer service and was refunded the 2nd day of our two-day Disney tickets. He apologized for his behavior later and we did up going to Hollywood Studios the next day (had to buy a single day ticket as a result of the previous day's refund). He seemed to enjoy HS better than Epcot, or was just trying harder for my benefit.

He's willing to go on this trip because of the children with the added sweetener of a visit to the Kennedy Space Center before heading over to WDW. He has promised to put on a happy face for the children, so fingers crossed. So maybe I'm setting up myself for disappointment, but I'm hoping that by planning for SDFPs and using touring plans to build itineraries that minimize waits, I can prevent some of his sourness about Disney. I've built in mid-day breaks for us on multiple days, and am even sending him and DS back to POR for a five hour break on our long MK day while DD and I dine with Cindy and friends at her Royal Table, LOL!

He is super excited for our auto-train ride home, so he will have something to look forward to throughout the trip!

So, while I probably would normally have just winged it pre-DH, I'm going all in on the planning this trip :-)

Awwww.. sorry your DH hates Disney. Mines does too that's why we are leaving him at home.
You can always send your DH to the golf course for a day. I hear they are amazing!

For MBs and cards ...once they are linked to a person (real or phantom) they can not be unlinked. The ticket entitlement can be transferred but the card stays link to the original person.

I'm sorry to hear your first Disney experience with your DH wasn't positive. I hope he would enjoy a little more this trip (if not Disney, at least Disney through your kids' eyes ;)) hope he enjoys the extras you planned for him too :)

I tried really hard for DH for our first trip too. He wasnt too impressed. We were there for a week or so too. For this trip, I am planning breaks for him and DS too. He's not impatient with lines but is impatient when DS gets antsy while outside. He was the one who wanted to have very convenient hotels (I'm guessing so he can run back to the hotel if ever). All out planning for me too! :D

Edit: I will say it's nice your DH is looking forward to things this trip. Mine doesn't seem to be looking forward to it as much. (Or at least he doesn't have anything in particular he is looking forward to, except maybe BOG)

Can you unlink them and link them to a phantom? @Lisa F did I recall you writing you did something like this when you added your day? I can't recall...
the ticket card or the magic band are ALWAYS linked to whatever they are first linked to. You can move around the "entitlement" - the admission for a pass or party or whatever, but you can't unlink a physical card from an account once it has been linked. I did move around my entitlement but I can't use my cards for anything because they were originally linked to my MDE account primaries.

I'm sorry to hear he hates Disney. BF is like that, but we have a VERY complicated situation and due to that situation I doubt we will ever travel anywhere together that doesn't involve the children (and certainly nothing elaborate and expensive like Disney together, that's for sure!) until his kids are out of college (the little one is in 4th grade so we have a long ways to go). His ex actually likes Disney and has taken the kids since their divorce (with the help of her parents) and they went a couple of times pre-divorce but he HATES it and is glad to not have to endure it. That's why I don't really spend any time planning when he is around. Over the weekend he decided he needed computer time (he reads tons of political blogs, I cannot wait until this election is over) so I opened my laptop and parked on the couch and wanted to indulge in a little DIS. he came over and read over my shoulder and was like "really? you're reading about DISNEY?" He already cast his vote so I told him me reading about Disney was way more pertinent than him reading about politics :P Anyway it's just annoying to be with a grump. My ex and I did not have a lot in common or a lot of spark and maybe were not right for each other but we both loved disney and he is so easy going he'd do whatever I want without much opinion (which is both good and bad lol). Sometimes I feel like people who don't like Disney DECIDE that they don't beforehand. I don't like this or I don't like that and once they have made up their mind it is hard to sway them even if it's the best trip of your life. I am always telling my child when he gets super negative about things "right now you are making a choice to see things that way. You could see things this way or this way or this way but you are choosing to see them the bad way" and that usually makes him think about the choices his internal voice is making at the moment. Too bad you can't say that to a grown man :P

anyway feeling really bummed right now for various reasons so sorry if I am being too heavy or negative.

I'm relieved to hear that I'm not the only one skipping rope drop this trip! My granddaughter does NOT do mornings well... on the bright side I'm hoping she will be able to stay up late for fireworks this trip :):)
my child is a morning kid. we are doing 3 RD days - two are EMH and one is at 9am and then nothing in particular we have to be anywhere for in the morning. I figure I will have a couple of 8am and a 9am in me and that's about it.

My own kids were morning people so we always did rope drop...we tried that with my granddaughter last year and that led to a meltdown in BOG the first full day. She is not a napper either so that doesn't help. Last trip she slept in AND slept through fireworks...fortunately once she falls asleep nothing will wake her

it's true, kids are their own people and everyone's trip is much better if you take their needs into account!

@BDFmom and @Candycane83 Glad I'm not the only one with a DH who isn't a fan of Disney! I'm really hopeful that he'll be better for the kids. And, thankfully my friend is joining us for the last two days, so if he gets too grumpy, we'll vote him off the island and let him go off somewhere with the car while she and I and the kids enjoy Disney :-)

I'm sorry you're feeling bummed @Lisa F , hopefully you'll find some cheer soon! I think you're right that my DH decided he hated Disney before going there. His brother is the same way. When we were in Oregon last month we were talking to my SIL about Disney and she really wants to go and take my nephew, but he refuses. I think I need to rope her into a trip with me so the two brothers can go off and do something non-Disney, while my SIL and I enjoy Disney with the kids, LOL!

I think it is a very male quality. I'm sure there is some science behind it but i don't know what it is lol. It must have some evolutionary use. I'm eternally an optimist and I hate it when someone tries to bring me down. Some people call it being a "devil's advocate" but I call it just being a grump.

Oh nice idea on going with your SIL! Lol! I keep telling DH that if he doesn't want to go travelling, I can go myself with DS. Of course he refuses to be excluded... :headache:
