***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

It's technically our honeymoon. But we've been married over 4 years! Our anniversary is Sept 2nd, so we won't be there over our anniversary. We bought the house and land shortly after marriage and haven't traveled anywhere since, not even an overnight trip together. I travel for work sometimes, but DH doesn't.

I wasn't planning on a cake order though. There's just 2 of us and tons of desserts to choose from, so I figured we'd be ok.
Well then I guess congratulations are in order! Enjoy your honeymoon!

@JamieOak If this is technically your HM, then add that celebration or your anniversary to you resort reservation and ADRs. I know it's been a while, but they don't know that. We got married in May 09 and didn't go on our DM till Sept 09. That was when we celebrated and it was just wonderful. We both wore our pins proudly and I wore the headband ears (the hat was too big for his head--oh the laughs).

@Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL We aren't celebrating anything specific this time, but I have ordered cakes before. Two minis have been delivered to BOG and were just perfect for my niece (looked like Belle) and my friend's daughter (resembled Rapunzel). I've also ordered the slipper at CRT for breakfast lol.

I think he needs to hold classes! He'd probably get his entire Disney trip for free if we all paid him to teach our husbands! :rotfl:
Hardly the case but thank you both.

Our last true vacation was almost 3 years ago when we went to DW. Since then it has been one long marathon of 6 day work weeks and home improvements/repairs. DW has been casually and innocently hinting that we are due for some down time since last Christmas. She is an amazing wife and mother (and has given me a healthy son since then).

If you knew her you would say that this is the very least I should be doing but I certainly appreciate the kind words.

Going back to the topic of food, not sure if anyone wanted to try the sweet and spicy chicken waffles at sleepy hollow... it's apparently back but with a steep price increase. Costs 10.29 now.

But can you use a snack credit for it?

Is anyone celebrating any special occasions while at DW? Who am I kidding? Just being at DW is a special occasion worth celebrating! :smickey:

@Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL we're celebrating my daughter's birthday while we are there but I go back and forth on this. I think it would be nice to have one sent to Akershus but then what would we do with all that extra cake? I don't want to carry it around Epcot and we will be having enough snacks while we are there that we really don't need leftover cake. Plus the cakes seem so expensive from what I can see from the outdated information I've found online (how much was your cake if you don't mind me asking?) and I'm already spending a crazy amount for her to spend her birthday there. She's turning 5 and I imagine she'd be just as happy with a candle in one of the Akershus deserts. But then I feel guilty and keep thinking about getting her the special cake.

If it's important to your DD, I think it'll be worth it... you're such a great mom to make it happen for your DD :) I think universal is well suited for teens too so I'm sure they will enjoy it tremendously:)
I'm working on a plan to make it happen. I have to see if I have enough rewards on Southwest to redeem towards admission tickets. Even one woukd put it in reach. If I do make it happen I'll keep it a surprise until were in the Uber heading there. :)

My Hufflepuff would be in her glory visiting Olivanders wand shop!

:rockband::rockband: Maybe this should be our thread's mascot?! lol Hmmm....what should our theme song

Well one of them... party:

i have read that you can change your reservation to a later date and THEN cancel it. anyone have experience?

I hoping this is the case.... It would allow for stellar flexibility.

Also (a little :offtopic:) but does anyone have any plans to order a :cake: while at DW? I called the cake hotline to inquire about a cake for our anniversary dinner at Artist Point and ended up ordering a replica of the top tier of our wedding cake. The process was really simple. Also considering something for our CRT dinner. Was thinking something simple for this. Maybe chocolate slipper for DW and cupcakes for DD and DS.

Is anyone celebrating any special occasions while at DW? Who am I kidding? Just being at DW is a special occasion worth celebrating! :smickey:

I ordered a chocolate slipper filled with berries for DD and a crown with mouse for DS for our CRT.

We are celebrating lots! It's Disney! We have DD graduation, DS B-Day and an IOU from Santa. :santa:

I agree with your concern about what to do with leftover cake. I just chalked it up to a loss and don't look back. I certainly don't want to lug a cake around MK after our dinner so we will do our best Joey Chestnut impersonation and each have a healthy slice.

When I called Artist Point to order I mentioned that I wanted a replica of our wedding cake and the CM said that it would be best to contact the Contemporary bakery because they specialize in cakes like this. After reading up on this on the cake chatter thread I learned that the specialty cakes from Contemporary can get quite expensive.

Our wedding cake was a simple and a little unorthodox design by wedding cake standards. So I described it to CM and she said they could do it no problem. Ended up getting an 8" chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, and chocolate mousse filling with a 3D, 5" white poinsettia on top and a simple border around the base of cake (December wedding) I was told it would be around $50 for the cake but that price could change slightly. I thought this was a fair price especially after reading what others have paid for cakes at DW.

Here's the cake chatter thread in case you haven't seen it yet. Lots of useful info on here.

That's awesome! I didn't know about the crown option at CRT. I learn something new every day on this thread!

If you're thinking about cancelling BOG for lunch that day ;)
it's for sure that i am. i just haven't done it yet. the line can be too long to get in there and I'm not spending that time to get into a qs place!

i'm kind of waiting for the SWaGS to be announced then I will post and make the final cut of my backup ADRs

consider a mini cake. I am almost tempted to see if I can get one for the kiddo on 12/3 because they are so cute and it is his "half birthday" lol (yes I am really reaching). I'd pay $35 for a mini exquisite 2-tier cake for 2!

I've ordered 2 of these and I wish they were $35. You may be able to get a really simple one for that, but maybe not (just wanted you to be prepared). Have you seen the prince cupcakes for like $9 you can get at the MK restaurants?

when my ADR window opened up I was holding two reservations, one for my actual stay and one using extra DVC points to hold a parallel week long stay so that I could book all of my ADRs at the 180 day window. But this made it not work on the website because I don't think it knew what reservation to refer to, so I had to call to book. The CM I spoke to asked if I was celebrating anything and I said "just being on vacation!" well apparently she marked ALL of my ADRs for "unspecified celebration" because when I called back to make a change they kept asking me what it was and if they could put more information about it...was it a birthday? anniversary? lol. I had to go through and have it removed from every ADR. I didn't want to be asked about it at every restaurant when I checked in. Pretty funny though!

yeah they 'start at' $30-35. I did assume the one that looks like a sandcastle would be more. But still considering some of the other options, not horrible, esp for couples who don't want to waste an entire cake!

We're celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary:love: Hadn't thought of ordering a cake, but it's a great idea! I'll have to look into it. While I'm on the subject - and you ladies are so creative:) I've been considering making a shadow box of sorts, but I'm not very artistic / creative. My husband proposed to me with a disney coin which I still have so I'm sure there is some great creative thing I could do with it. Any ideas?
