Sailing in April on the Treasure with a group of 4 all adults, and the date to pick excursions etc is rapidly approaching. My wife and I are really interested in visiting St. John, but are trying to decide between a few excursions or trying to do something on our own to try to spend more time on the beach or exploring Cruz Bay. It looks like St. Thomas is a relatively long shore day 7:15 am ashore and 5:45 aboard

The excursions we are looking at are:

  • St. John Trunk Bay Beach Getaway (ST79) or Snorkel (ST01)
  • St. John On Your Own (ST59)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

St John is a beautiful island. The beaches, especially Trunk Bay, are very nice places to sun and swim. The town itself is fairly compact and you don't need to plan a lot of time to shop there.

That’s an interesting itinerary that you are going to St Thomas first, normally it’s Tortola .
Yeah, I was surprised as looking at most of the vlogs on Youtube it seems that Tortola is usually first, but according to the confirmation I see Tuesday on St Thomas and Wednesday on Tortola. So definitely looking at doing a DCL excursion on Tortola with the shorter port time. I have been to both St Thomas and Tortola before, but my wife has not. Never been to St. John.

We're booked on the Treasure in December 2026, and we go to St. Thomas first then Tortola. I wonder whether it's a permanent change?

I think it’s a one off . When I looked at April’s Eastern sailings- 1 was normal w St Thomas second and then this one. Maybe there wasn’t a dock available so they switched. Doing Tortola second they are leaving earlier than when they normally leave St Thomas since they are farther east and have to booking back across for Castaway on the Friday.
