***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

I don't think they are going to go into the Holiday season with no nighttime show. I have also read that there are rumors of a refurb for MSEP. So I think either 1) it will be down for a time for refurb but back up by september or 2) the DL nighttime parade will come to WDW. Either way I'm good though I'd prefer to see MSEP one last time if it is going away and the new parade down the road. I don't think they would have been selling those Tony's packages if there was going ot be no nighttime parade at all.
True, I asked about this and the response was they would just cancel the ADRs. What I don't understand is that if this is true and it would really end by Sep 10, I would see them taking off all availability for this dining package and yet when I check for Sep 14, I still see plenty of availability all the way to Mid Nov? Hopefully it does stay, I do want to see it and I think my son would enjoy it. If paint the night does come to WDW (which was reportedly doubtful apparently) it would be nice too. Just hope they don't take the night parade completely off the table!

Mmmmkay. So although I've done Disney a few times, I've not done the FP+ system. I've found alllllll kinda of info on it online, but this is my question for y'all: with our ADR's having been so FREAKING hard to get, what happens if I go to pick my fp's for a park that I have ADR's at, and there's no fp's available for what I want? I have a party of 9....is it harder to get fp's for 9 people like it is getting ADR's for 9 people? Anyone have a strategy for getting fp's to line up with ADR's? I'm overwhelmed. :( really missing the old paper system.

I've never done it either but I have seen people on these boards say to break it up to smaller groups like @1437disney said :)

Tonight at 10:30pm CST, I will be releasing the following (all for party of 9):

Crystal Palace on Dec 3 @ 7:15pm
Garden Grill Candelight Dinner Pkg (w/ 8:15 showtime) on Dec 4 @ 1:00pm
'Ohana on Dec 5 @ 4:00pm
Akershus on Dec 6 @ 10:45am
Akershus on Dec 8 @ 8:15am

If you want one before 10:30 CST, PM me. :)

I posted on the cancellation board as well, but figured someone here might be interested.

that is awesome stuff you are releasing!

Okay, thanks. The way Disney has been about releasing things (ADR's, SW dessert party, etc...) this year, I just wasn't sure if it had been opened up and subsequently booked or just not opened yet. Sounds like I missed my chance! Oh well... I'm not up for stalking the website for it. :)

I would try calling or asking dissers if anyone has a reservation for a non party day. I remember when they first rolled out the dessert parties for holiday wishes it was just that I wasn't able to find any for any non party days. I dropped the idea of booking it because the money tree that I tried to plant didn't seem to take off very well lol. I just couldn't justify that expense. So I'm not certain but with all of us planning one of us needs to have a first hand experience actually watching this right?

@Candycane83 and other foodie types...

I am seriously considering swapping out my 6:45 post candlelight processional dinner at la hacienda for another signature - either yachtsman or flying fish. Don't know why I put flying fish on there. it really does NOT look kid friendly. I guess the hype is getting to me. But yachtsman has wagyu on the menu - I honestly have a hard enough time with a $50 filet but a $145 one is just... wow. IF it is not excluded from the DDP it seems like a great once in a lifetime opportunity to try it. Kids menu is fine, kiddo would love the oak grilled steak skewer with mashed potatoes. Switching to the signature I would pay for kid OOP. I was planning to stay in the park but could definitely go to either of those places and come back for Illuminations at 9:30. I do like the idea of la hacienda but just realized all of these resort area restaurants could be possible too. not even sure I can get an ADR for either though.

opinions? not sure I'd have time to change clothes though which is why I was going for something other than a signature. Also part of me is thinking cape may cafe for dinner - I don't do many buffets but the crab legs sound good. I thought I was set! Cape May for dinner is an old favorite of mine - it is child friendly and park dress friendly. I used to go when the crab legs were an add on. It is a good value on the DDP as well (but I think La Hacienda better with appetizers now that I did the math). Yachtsman just seems so stuffy and formal to me (always has) and even though people say it is kid friendly, not super kid friendly and certainly not "coming straight from the parks" kid friendly. Though there is a 7pm ADR so we could conceivably go back to our room at BWV and change after CP and then head over there for dinner and back to the park for Illuminations.

argh. help.

Decisions, decisions.

We traveled to WDW with a group of 7 and didn't have any problems getting fp's for the group. If you log on right at 7am when your 60 day window opens, you should be able to get everything. The only ones that are hard to get are the new Frozen ride at Epcot, 7 Dwarfs Mine Ride, and a few others. It is most convenient to have a fp in the same park as your ADR. And I've found that all but the most popular restaurants, like BOG, will have ADR times open up as you get closer to your date. People tend to book extra ADR's and then drop them as they get closer to their trip.

Since you are staying at the Boardwalk then it is really convenient to eat at an Epcot restaurant. We've taken our grandchildren to Cape May for dinner and they love it. A

re you planning any time off in the afternoons for swimming? I've heard that the clown slide is the best resort slide on property. :)

I am really leaning toward the wagyu steak if it is included. when else in my life would I eat a $145 filet mignon? (hint. never!) I would have to pay for the kiddo OOP but I could swing the $12 steak skewer and dessert I think :scared1:

It's crazy. I'd have to do the second account thing to hold both while I decide :-p

I could swear I saw a thread about the deluxe plan recently where someone mentioned it was excluded. Check the dining plan board, it was just a couple days ago or something.

Hmm that is hard but I'll try to breakdown what I think:

Yatchman- this was never on my radar until I saw someone ask if this is part of the DDP. The steak in the menu description sounds like the one they serve at V&A. If and only if this is included in the DDP, I think you should go for this. I would actually rearrange my plans if this is included too ;)

Flying Fish- I really want to try this so I included it in my plan. The reviews r very good from what I can see despite peopel's dislike of the menu change. but does the menu really appeal to you and your son? As you said, the menu of all signatures are very similar to one another now. Is it worth changing la hacienda for that?

Cape May- I've never been so I can't comment. I think that if your son likes it, you could swap it. I will say even if it is close by, it is much more convenient to be in the park already.

As for dressing up, I think it's easier to dress up properly in December since it should be cooler. Dark pair of jeans and a clean shirt would be fine. On the day we're planning to do flying fish, I'm planning to be at Epcot that afternoon to go around WS and head to flying fish after. We would not go back to CR to change. So I would dress appropriately and make sure my son has a change of clothes just in case :)

Another point I wanted to say was that your son was looking forward to la hacienda. Is he going to be disappointed if you change that? Would you be able to squeeze it in at an off hour just to get him the cheese he wants?

On another note, I'm currently looking for flights now and my choices aren't ideal. It's either 11:55am, meaning I have to leave by 8am or 9:55pm and arrive back home past midnight (and head to work the next day). My DH is leaning towards 9:55pm. This would give us another dinner and I'm really considering this. But it seems stressful too... And I will quote you- decisions decisions... ;)

I think he would live without la hacienda. He was so psyched about it for some reason but I could talk him out of it. I think I would still keep la hacienda over cape may but only leave for yachtsman - the flying fish i just think is not kid friendly enough with the menu. He'd eat grilled chicken I suppose but none of the sides. At yachtsman there are a few things he'd eat but he loves grilled steak skewers and has recently gotten into mashed potatoes, but depending on his mood he'd do mac and cheese or pasta with butter and a side of meatballs. The sigs I've chosen are the ones with multiple options for him as well. Grilled chicken and no side at FF does not sound appealing.

Of course that 7pm that i wanted is gone now and it's 6:25 or 7:55, neither of which really works. I think 6:25 is too early - we'd have to go straight there. But I grabbed it anyway :P and I can set up TP for something a bit later. CP is 5pm for 45 minutes so 40 minutes should be enough time to walk over there. Maybe I will pack a clean shirt for each of us and just make sure we are wearing acceptable bottoms and do a quick change in the bathroom.

Still keeping la hacienda until I decide though.

I saw that thread but didn't see the post where it mentions that it is excluded. It would make sense but I'll try to look for it for confirmation :)

If it's a new menu item, maybe it wasn't mentioned specifically. I just remember someone running down a brief list of what was excluded (things like the lobster tail at wherever that is) and I thought something at Yachtsman was mentioned.

anything that is an "enhancement" is not included on the DDP. I am not sure I have ever heard of an entree being excluded though. Just categories that didn't count as an entree. If it doesn't come with a side i'd totally get the truffle mac and cheese (is it any good there? I know some places it gets better reviews than others). Yes I'd end up paying a good $50 OOP here but... yeah @Candycane83 is right, it is sort of a near V&A experience!

I think it's a good idea to keep La Hacienda for now. I think that for FF, if he would eat the steak from the adult menu, maybe it's worth it asking if he can have that without the sides. I've seen good reviews on this steak as well from Dis Unplugged. I think it'll be perfectly fine with a quick change in the bathroom. We'd probably do the same. I don't think most restaurants are overly choosy over what guests wear as long as it's not offensive. (Revenue is revenue) I don't think most people really look at other people too. :) My opinion only of course.

It's true I've never seen them make an entree an exception but I've never seen them price an entree like that either. $50 for your kid should be ok for $150 steak :D
