***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Hmm, DS2 actually does not eat a lot of meat, especially red meat... He eats mostly fish/ shrimp and chicken... and it's usually steamed. He would eat other stuff when we're out but that's not very often so I'm a little worried about a long trip. We've never been away for so long before...
EDIT: He's adventurous enough outside (even eats peking duck :P) but for 11 days straight eating food prepared outside is a little daunting.
I think meat is challenging for a lot of little kids. Steamed is mild and soft and no weird textural changes from cooking (crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside). often I think it is more about texture than taste. red meat is tough to chew.

Honestly I think kids that are NOT picky eaters are the exception to the rule, from what I've seen of my DD's friends and classmates. And I know for a couple of those kids, the reason they are not picky is because the parents will not feed them anything else if they refuse what is served. And while that might work for some kids, if you ever tried locking horns in battle with my daughter, you will lose. I hope she will be a top notch lawyer one day LOL
I do this to a point.

My son and I have an agreement- he MUST try something. If he takes a bite or two, and doesn't like it, then he can have something else. But the rule is- he has to try.

I do feel relatively lucky that he isn't a picky eater, but what strange is he is a little more picky right now than he was 2 years ago.

What's even more strange- his favorites are- crab legs (mine too), but also mussels/clams/oysters and salmon. I don't like those 4 items, and I won't eat them...so go figure lol. With the salmon, if I make it at home (hate the smell) I just buy a fresh pre seasoned from Whole Foods or Fresh Market and stick it in the oven, and make something else for me.

Yes. Also my rule is I will let you try anything but you have to finish it (sports and activities I mean) and give your best... if you don't want to sign up again that is fine but no quitting in the middle. I think that is a reasonable compromise between teaching them that you finish what you start but not making them do something they hate forever.
I have that same rule. Hockey is the exception. He wants to play, but we just don't have time for it. He is already in 1-2 sports at a time year round. Right now we are at the end of baseball season, beginning of season we still had a few swim lessons remaining, and this coming week he starts golf camp. Only 2 baseball games left though, so we won't be overlapped for long.

He wanted to play football so badly last year, I warned him that it would be an intense schedule and if he played that golf would be over the rest of summer/fall. He insisted so we did it. 4 days per week 2.5-3 hours per day. At age 5. And I work a lot. Omg it was tough. Fun, but tough schedule, on both of us!. I love football so was a little sad when he chose soccer for this coming year, but was also relieved at the same time. His reason "I love football mommy, but it was just too long!!!" I can't argue with that!

Has anyone been to Biergarten? Any thoughts on this? I liked the idea of entertainment and DH likes the menu but communal seating is kind of scaring me... (Because of my toddler mostly, scared of strangers)

I have ADRs to cancel:

12/3 - 5:25p Ohana - 2 people
12/4 - 1:25p Akershus - 2 people

I posted on the December cancellation thread and thought I'd check here too. PM if you want to coordinate times. I will be canceling tonight if I don't hear from anyone.

Canceling 2 ADRs - lunches at BOG on 12/3 and 12/4, both for parties of 3. PM to coordinate.

I have this one on our list too. It will be our first time. Curious to what others have to say about it.

I am interested in the Ohana reservation at 5:25 on 12/3, but I can't make resrvations until Monday. I'm new to this forum, so not sure how this works. :/

I was on at 6 am and got some of our ressies. Called in at 7 and got a late breakfast split seating at Tusker House, which I don't really want but it's the only place DH wants to eat! CRT and 50s PTC were completely unavailable. The CM I spoke with said it looked to her like ressies weren't loaded into those places yet. She tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and tried tables of 6 down to tables of 2, and nothing showed up for those places on multiple days. So, I will keep checking back until I can get those 2 and get a Tusker House ressie I actually like!

@Lisa F I feel you even more. My daughter is on the spectrum too and I think picky eating is just an aspect of that. She also does not like loud and chaotic places so am thinking of getting her some ear protection as well for the trip. (She still freaks if we turn on the vaccum cleaner or the exhaust fan at home).
My husband uses Noise concelling ear plugs that he bought at Best Buys when he cuts grass or is in a loud situation. They also make head phones.

Oh my....the ADR situation. My 180 started today. Only one I wanted and got at time I wanted was Via Napoli. Couldn't get Chef Mickey's or Ohana on any of my days. I'll do the touring plan look out thingy.
