***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

I was thinking of getting a case of bottled water but I'm wondering if it is even worth it. our flight lands at 5pm and I have 6:45 at Sanaa. I could make it later but I am going to just assume that everything will go smoothly and if not, I can deal with it at the front desk and we will be able to walk up to Sanaa later. Worst case I lose $20 but I think if you are staying at a resort and eating at the resort and your plane is delayed they might be understanding. who knows. But I did not leave time for a grocery stop. A 24 pack of 16.9oz bottles weighs 29 lbs. 24 pack of 20oz weighs 31 lbs (thank you google). Maybe I will just squirrel 14 bottles of water (one per day for each of us) into my 3 suitcases.

Last time at disney i stopped in the little shop and I bought eggos for the kid. He didn't end up eating a single one. We did room service a couple of days and the rest of the time we had breakfast out. I will probably end up buying water in the parks as taking the time to stop at a CS and stand on line for a free cup of ice water that I then have to pour into my filtered water bottle that I need to carry around sounds appealing. We can get a bit of a head start with frozen water bottles in the backpack but then will probably buy as we drink them. Last time we bought 1 at a time and shared it (and finished it). Also the water filter bottles are not inexpensive either, they are around $30 for a good one so that is like 12 bottles of water right there. the savings might not be enough for me to worry about it.

what is everyone's thoughts on water?

I'm buying one small case in the grocery stop probably... :) The thing is, not sure which brand to get... :P

and really @rasadkowski and everyone else. there are SO many ways to do a disney vacation. Just because a bunch of us decided against doesn't mean you should second guess yourself. We all tour differently and what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. Disney has all of these things but really they are CHOICES. We don't have to do them ALL. I am always reminding myself of that lol.

they all suck lol.

I think zephyrhills is the local brand that you see the most of. I want to bring a case of icelandic bottled water with me. would that be crazy?

Hmm, never tried that... how is it? I want to taste test waters but DH will think I'm insane

@Lisa F You have a car right? Maybe you can go grab some water after Sanaa, or the next day? If we were bringing filtered water bottles and flavor packets, I wouldn't even worry about it.
I drink a TON of water....typically 4 or 5 32 oz. bottles per day. All that walking and the heat...it would cost us a fortune for water in the parks.
We typically freeze a bottle of water for each of us and bring some mio or flavor packets because that fountain water in Disney is NASTY!
If you're packing a reusable filtered bottle though, I wouldn't worry about buying a lot of water, unless you want some for your room.

This is my plan, @Lisa F . We're doing a Disney Junior lunch at H&V earlier in the day since my kids are HUGE disney Junior fans, well let me rephrase, my DD is a huge Sofia the 1st and Doc McStuffins fan, and my DS likes it all enough. They don't do the Fantasmic package with the Disney Junior lunch, just the Minnie Holiday dinner. I can't justify two back to back meals in the same restaurant and just figured the SDFP for Fantasmic would be what we plan to get if they are available. While my husband and I would really like the Star Wars fireworks, we think the kids might enjoy Fantasmic better since they have no idea what Star Wars is yet, LOL!

I think your plan sounds great @SilSprBea to get a fast pass for F! Just wanted to let you know that you CAN get F! for lunch, just not breakfast. I actually had H&V F! lunch at first when I couldn't get the dinner there. Again, your plan is perfect as is...just wanted you to know that Disney Junior lunch with F! is an option if you want it to be. :D

it's fine. I am not super picky but florida bottled water tastes a bit worse than bottled water in new england.

There are a few types of bottled water. One is "spring" water which is supposed to be bottled at a spring (duh) but I think they often filter it. They tend to be locally available brands bottled at semi local springs (we get a lot of Poland Spring around here because we are semi close to maine)... zephyrhills is local to florida. I am not a huge fan of the way they taste but it is way better than tap water so I cope. I think at Disney they sell desani because of their deal with coke but you will find zephyrhills in the supermarket.

regular bottled water that is not marked spring water (like Desani by Coke and Aquafina by Pepsi) is basically municipal water that is filtered and then has a mineral flavor pack added back into it so that it tastes consistent no matter where it is bottled (someone I used to know used to work for coke doing that).

don't know what the deal is with supermarket and other brands. I'd guess filtered tap.

Has anyone been to Disney Springs at night during the Christmas season? How is it? Is it worth a night there? I want to see it at night but not sure if it's worth the hassle... ? :)

I was wondering about that. I thought I'd seen people getting it for lunch! You might try booking it @SilSprBea

Hmm.. I actually like distilled water better. oh well, I think my son should be fine drinking it... I, on the other hand, drink a lot of tea so it covers the taste of the water anyway. DH and DS should be able to cope with whatever :D

@TiggerManiac.... it's reports like this that scare me about orange!! Even with no real motion sickness issues.

@Maryemcd I have slight motion sickness issues. For instance, never any problems on boats of any size. But if I'm riding in a car, I can't do anything that requires me holding my head angled down for very long at a time without getting nauseous and dizzy. I have to read while holding my book much higher than normal or crochet with my work higher than normal. I have to take frequent breaks from reading; I can crochet longer without a break.

I knew the trick about orange and keeping my eyes open and forward facing at all times. Kept me from puking, but I did hold the barf bag for most of the ride. My daughter and I were very queasy for hours after. About all we could do was walk around and look at stuff and stay in cold air conditioning as much as possible.

My husband wants to do Orange again, but not without me. I told him he can ride it as many times as he wants, and I'll be looking at other stuff. Because I'm never getting on it again.

So much this!! What works for one person may not work for someone else. Do what feels right for you and your family!

Don't want to scare anyone, but I just read some rumors about HS from Theme Park Tourist:
  1. Last minute Rock ‘n’ Roller refurb may remove Aerosmith branding, like the merchandise
  2. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular may not be extended past 10/1/16 for fall (Oct and Nov), and may reopen “Late 2016” including scenes from Rogue One for the holiday season (may mean a later booking time?)
  3. Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away may not be extended and not return
All speculation, besides the actual time frame for Rock ‘n’ Roller, but all interesting!

EDIT: The link blanked out so I guess I could not include it. Sorry about that!

I'm wondering this as well. I wonder how late DS is open?

Really? I thought I read on the Fantasmic page that it was only lunch at Mama Melrose and Hollywood Derby, and then dinner at Hollywood & Vine. Darnit! But you can't change it unless you cancel it right? I'd be afraid to not get it back!

you can check and see if a lunchtime is available now. I think the disney jr. lunch does not sell out the way the holiday dine dinner does. give it a try and try to book a time before 3pm through the dinner package!

I can see a lot of restaurants open late 10pm?11pm maybe? As for shops, I'm not sure. I saw someone say on another thread that there is a lot of entertainment at night (which is why I wanted to check it out, along with xmas decorations lit up) but was hoping for someone with first hand experience :)

Oh no! I sure hope not. I saw the thread on Star Ways and yulilin3 said not to worry... but they can't do this!!!! :furious:

Sounds like some changes heading to HS.
