***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

I was wondering, have any of you been to Liberty Tree Tavern? I've heard good things about it, but I'm not sure. Trying to think of more dinner options. My family likes to eat at restaurants for breakfast and dinner usually on trips. We'll do a quick service lunch I think. I;m having trouble thinking of a few dinners. (Not like it'll be easy to get them at this point!) :) But, I was wondering about Liberty Tree Tavern. Being from Boston, I'm not sure if the Thanksgiving meal will be all that unique/special? @LisaF have you been there ?

@Lisa F that list of SDFP's is actually not bad. From what I had read, it seemed like it was more of a waste of time. I need to figure out the whole FP thing anyway...last time I went, they still paper FP's, so this whole system is new to me!
I'm also hoping for some pool time, but worried it may be too cold. Well, relatively cold. Being from New England, it could be 65 out and I'd still think it was warm enough for swimming! :fish:
yes, you are the one who loved the vineyard right? I was just thinking someone was mentioning that to me and I forgot to answer and now I can't remember where I saw it or who it was, lol. The pools are heated to 70. Unless the air temp is in the 50's I plan to spend a couple of hours a couple of days swimming in the pools - we have a split stay so we have two of them to try out.

I have but not in many many years. I think the last time I did was when there were characters there (the menu hasn't changed much). But I LOVE LTT. there was a time when we went every trip and I had a small collection of mugs they sold there. It's at my ex's house and now i want them back :-p But I prefer the lunch menu over dinner and always have. I don't think thanksgiving dinner is a boston thing really though, unless you eat pilgrim sandwiches on a regular basis (I don't but I want one now lol). I love the atmosphere and the theming there though. a lot. the food is basic at dinner, tasty but nothing ground breaking, though I see they have pot roast for dinner and I've had that there (at lunch) and it was really good. the lunches are a bit more interesting and you can get an ADR up to 2:55 for lunch. I wish I could fit it in myself actually but it made the cut a while ago. boo.

Tony's seems to be getting better reviews right now. I'd not expect anything better than olive garden but again that falls into the category of "tasty if not ground breaking" to me. There is always Skipper's Canteen for ground breaking but there is really not much for less adventurous eaters. the Plaza takes walk ups. I have never been to any of those honestly, lol. I never eat italian at wdw, it is too easy to get at home. The plaza has the old "Figaro fries" which are loaded fries with cheez, bacon and lettuce and tomato drizzled with ranch dressing. I am tempted to have "lunch" there on my HDDR day and get an order of the fries and a couple of milkshakes and call it good but I am worried it will be too much food with a 9:50 CP breakfast and 6:15 HDDR dinner. maybe we can share a shake too (that is SOOOO filling). My child won't eat the lettuce or tomato but I'm sure can pick around it if I get the ranch on the side.

Thanks so much!! And Thanksgiving, yes, not just for Bostonians :) I guess I'm just hooked on the whole colonial clothing and period details. Maybe it won't be as unique to something we'd see around here as I thought. hmmm. The fries sound GREAT! My girls would love that....and I do remember reading your post about that awhile ago....you did mention it again, and you sound very excited about it, so..i'd say GO FOR IT! :)

Liberty Tree Tavern looked so good to us, though it did end up on the "next time" list like many other places. So many options, so little time! I just wanted to toss in the idea of The Wave. I've changed plans again (so shocking, I know) and the breakfast we had planned there turned into a dinner reservation. Haven't tried it but the reviews are quite consistently great, often being referred to as a hidden gem.

I'm hooked on that too, lol. I love eating there. Like I said for years we went every time for lunch. it was back in the day when you didn't even need an ADR for a "minor" place like that. I did go once for dinner (I think with my parents and sister) when the characters were there but if I had the choice (and I always did) I always picked lunch just because you can get the tgiving stuff if you feel like it but there are other options. The ooey gooey toffee cake is "new" to me and though it gets rave reviews I have never had it so that tells you the last time I have been there. I haven't been there since I had the kiddo. My trip in 2014 I had maybe 5 TS overall: Tusker House, CA Grill, Ohana breakfast (I LOVE stitch), Kona Cafe dinner (disappointing and not sure how it ended up on my top 4 list for that trip except I was trying to find unique foods my son would eat and they had mickey shaped ravioli and I thought he'd get a kick out of it, and he did... he was asking to go back but my meal was awful and the ravioli are gone anyway... we are trying it for breakfast but just because we are at the Poly) and I added CP late lunch/early dinner while I was at the parks because the character meals were such a huge hit and kiddo was begging for more. We had it on our last day where it immediately became our "last day tradition" and i have it booked for the last day again. But had I not been doing HDDR for dinner LTT would have been lunch our last day. That is how close it came to making the cut! now I am kind of a little sad all over again that we won't be going, lol. But there is nothing I want to give up. I am also questioning only 1 daytime day at the MK and two nights. I need another day or two lol.

we stayed at BLT last time and their room service comes out of the wave. the grilled beef tenderloin was amazing. The only reason it is not higher on my list is due to lack of theming/disney touches. It is a rather bland restaurant. Everything I picked ended up on my list more for the disney aspect than the food. Some day it will be on my list again! if that place had some amazing disney about it it would be so popular they'd make it a 2TS I think, the food is that good.

I considered LTT too but it got cut due to lack of options for my daughter. It's tricky finding places to eat at mk with a picky vegetarian (I'm more of a flexitarian but prefer non meat options). Am considering Tonys and the Plaza now.

I'm hoping to keep our LTT lunch ADR. I really want that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake!
We had it last time in 2012 and loved it! Meal was not as memorable as dessert but it was good. I would've wanted it again this year but we want to try other things... :D

The lack of theming does make me hesitate a bit. Something I'm pretty excited about for this trip though is checking out the Deluxe resorts a bit, and so that really weighed into my decision. My kids are intent on getting the bacon and eggs appetizer too! :-) We've only ever spent any Deluxe resort time at GF with a great GF Cafe dinner. Aside from The Wave dinner, we have a Kona breakfast at Poly, Boma breakfast at AKL, and have time carved out to look at Epcot/Boardwalk area resorts. My reality is we will likely not be back until my son graduates in a few years, and at least once I want to stay in a Deluxe resort. So, technically, this is all in the name of research! :-)

Staying at CR and it's going to be breakfast... Thought about it for dinner but it'll have to wait until next time :P

the sweet potato pancakes with chicken sausage :goodvibes i still dream about those. I don't much like pancakes usually either but I do love pumpkin/sweet potato quick breads and it was that flavor in pancake texture. YUM. the chicken sausage was the perfect complement. I seriously considered getting up early to go there for breakfast on our departure morning from the poly but I can't add that complexity in so Kona it is.

Can you have an Uber/Taxi drop you off at CR and have breakfast at the QS? Or will they only let you in with an ADR?

LOL, this is the reason why I need to put Kona off to the next trip! There's a few times I'm thinking about going for Kona but it seems like getting to Poly and going around the monorail would take time away from MK. Looking forward to breakfast though! and maybe room service on our last day if I don't find a 7am Chef Mickeys ;)

One of my cousins goes to WDW a few times a year... I know they go to LTT every trip as a favorite.

parking is the only thing that is an issue. they do not control access to the resort itself, just trying to prevent MK people from parking there!

Love this! This is also what I'm doing so in lieu of resort hopping, it's more like a meal at each resort! :D Great way of seeing all the xmas decorations too! :)
