And I just realized I don't know what people do without them to carry stuff into the parks? Like food/ponchos/water/meds etc....
Is there a "perfect" Disney bag for a Mommy and 6 year old son trip?

Thanks y'all!!!

I tease my husband that we just had our new baby so that we can keep using the stroller for a few more years! We are definitely packers. We never seem to travel light, even when we want to!

I bought a small Tinkerbell backpack/purse on clearance at Wal-Mart, and I'm hoping that will be all I have to carry on our next trip. My DDs will be 4 and 6, so we're planning to go without strollers the majority of the time, although we'll probably rent one for MVMCP. It will take some serious restraint on my part, since I lugged around a stuffed full-size backpack the whole time on our last trip. :rotfl:

I know a lot of people here like bagallini and vera bradley bags, but I don't like anything with the cross-body strap. Otherwise, I'd probably go for a messenger-type bag.

We are at WDW now, also doing it for the first time with no stroller. We have done a variety of things:
1. Put main bag in a day-rental locker and fetched stuff only if needed - like fleeces for chilly late nights / when clothes are wet from wet rides or rain.
2. Just taken small camera plus little cash and one credit card, all in those side pockets you get on shorts. We have a supply of ziplok sandwich bags to keep everything dry (tickets for FPs, camera, phone) - rain, wet rides and sweat get most things damp otherwise!
3. Carried a bag with the barest minimum - but this does tend to fill up and get heavy!

I have thought of getting a water-holster or lanyard for each person to keep their own, water bottle as water for 6 people s the main weight!

It has crossed my mind to just buy a cheap stroller though, but my husband wouldn't do it!

Dear Mommy of 6 yr old - My best advice, get the stroller ANYWAY! As you've experienced, it is SO convenient. Plus - we used a double stroller for BOTH my children - who were ages 10 and 8. Yes, 10 yr. was too "old" technically, but they will never forget hopping into that stroller when their feet were dog-tired and running to see the laser show at Epcot. As long as their bodies will fit, I say get the stroller! Best $20 every spent. :)

I am on the fence about the stroller for DS, just turned 8. We took one last year when he was 7 and he did ride in it. He is on the smaller side for his age.
He had foot surgery at 4 so his one foot is a little weaker. He is too heavy for me to carry more than a few feet, and DH won't want to carry him as well. I like having the umbrella stroller to hold the water bottle and backpack with ponchos, ect. It's also nice to have the bottom basket for light jackets and packages. I think I just talked myself into bringing it! If he never sits in it, fine. It's light and folds easy to take on the bus.
