Did a search on the dreaded dumpster view at VWL. I know, it's not that bad. We will need a two bed, but thinking of a lock off so they have their privacy.

VWL is our home so that is why I am thinking of booking it now for next May.
We've stayed once at VWL, and many many times at OKW, once at BCV. Have a trip for Halloween at VWL. I just keep coming back to OKW. You can't beat the size! With 8 people it's a no brainer for me.

VWL is great for the boat to and from MK. And I love the elec parade. OKW will have a slide by then too. I just can't decide. My daughter and SIL said for me to choose.

What ya'll think

Not easy, but I'll pitch in. If the kids are young (Pre-teen) then I suspect VWL will capture their interest more. If they are older (Teen), then the additional size and privacy that OKW's condo style development offers may be better.

Have a grand time!

My choice is ease of transportation, how old are the grandkids?
If they are small and would spend most of their time at Magic Kingdom then VWL would be my choice. If older and do not need a lot of care like strollers etc. and can handle the ride then OKW for the larger room.

Me, DH, 40 something!? Our girls, then 8 and 6. My daughter, SIL and my grandsons, then 6 and 3. My girls love VWL and always ask to go back. We will be there for 3 nights in Oct though.

My daughter has always been anti Disney. But now they are excited about this trip. She is calling me about prices on Hoppers. She is more of a VWL person, decor wise. I just can't decide.
Our time will equally be spent at all parks, staying for 5 nights.

VWL -- definitely! We were there in April with our 4 kids (similar ages) and the whole experience is perfect at that age: the theme , the restaurants, (Whispering Canyon, of course, but also Artist Point where the kids really enjoyed the coloring, the display wall for their pictures, and the Mickey puzzle dessert -- and at the same time we enjoyed a lovely "grown-up" dinner) , the pin trading, the main pool, the proximity to MK, CR , and monorails, etc., etc.. And if you've never had the experience of being the "flag family" at WL you should inquire about it when you check-in! Have fun!

Normally, I'd say VWL because of the ages and the fact that your daughter and your girls love VWL. But 8 people in a 2BR?

I'd have to think pretty hard about OKW then. That's a lot of bodies and any bit of extra space might be very welcome.

I called and reserved VWL. We will have to do without the extra space. A 2 bed is designed for 8 anyway.

And with a lock off they will have the sofabed area so that is another area for the kids to gather.

I want the experience to be the best for them and I think they will enjoy it more there. I on the other hand would enjoy OKW. But it's not what I want this time! :hyper:

The boat to MK is a plus and the theming, they will love it more so that OKW.

And at least it is booked and at the 11 month mark and can always be changed.

Thanks all!

I think you made the right choice! Just being a simple boat ride away from MK with all those young kids will be SO convenient. And you're right, the VWL theming can't be beat.

At my family's last trip to WDW, we all had our "opening night" dinner at Artist Point. It was fabulous!! Maybe you and yours would enjoy it, too!
