I’m toying with getting the QS dining plan could someone explain how it works? I’m getting confused lol and is it worth the $$ (hubby is questioning this lol) TIA xx

Unless you like an adult beverage with both meals it’s hard to get value out of the QSDP.

I think most people would say that if paying for the dining plan it is normally not worth it. You would need to be maximizing your food / drink selections to come out ahead. If you happen to be able to book a package with free dining, it can save a lot of money (some save a lot, and others do better with a room discount, just depends how you eat). With that said we have had the QSDP 3 out of 4 trips. Our first trip we did not have the dining plan. We saw all these tasty looking treats, but did not buy many of them because we simply though it was not worth the money. Our next 3 trips we had the free dining offer. It was so nice letting out daughter have almost anything she wanted. We were able to say "YES" a lot! We have an upcoming trip this summer and we paid out of pocket for the QSDP. For us, we like having everything paid for before our trip. We will spend very little while on vacation, just because we don't like having to pay the bill that comes afterwards. On the QSDP we always had more food than we needed. Many times we shared meals because the portions were so large. Also at many places we converted 1 meal into 3 snacks.

The best advice i received when considering a dining plan was this: Go through the menus online (prices are posted) for the places you would NORMALLY eat during your trip. Price out what your meals would cost you. Then compare it to the cost of the dining plan you're considering. In the case of QSDP, your dining credits are restricted to the counter service (non-sit down) food locations, so the first question to answer is whether that is in line with how you would normally eat at WDW? If you go for mostly Table service/character meals, then QSDP is a waste because you'd still have to pay for any of those sit down/character meals out of pocket.

You pay the $52.50 per person, per NIGHT of stay with your reservation. Each person then receives 2 QS credits and 2 snack credits per NIGHT, along with a refillable mug to be used at your resort. When you check in, ALL the credits are loaded and ready to be used. You can use 3 QS credits in one day or none or all your snack credits in one day. They are yours to be used.

The value is very subjective. We usually don't attribute any value to the mug and see it as a free souvenir, but if you think you will eat at the resort and use it, you need to give it some value. $5 is a general value for each snack credit. You can find things for more and for less, but $5 is a decent average. So that leaves you with about $21 that needs to be "spent" at each QS meal. If you plan to get a beer or glass of wine with most meals, it will be fairly easy to reach that $21 mark. If you don't drink alcohol at all, it will be very difficult to spend that much.
