I booked POR for our trip in Feb 2015 a few days ago but now im 2nd guessing myself. This is our first time staying on site but idk if i made the right choice since we aren't really going to be in the room other than to sleep and POR is more money plus its not really themey for the kids. If i change to a value resort which is the best POP, All stars or AoA? i have a 4 and 7 year old. Thanks

Did you book rack rate or with a promotion/special offer? If you booked without a promo, call Disney right now (don't wait) to ask if they can apply the promo on your room (they would refund you a part of the amount you paid).

Just to let you know: POR is the best moderate. It's beautiful. The food court is one of the best in all WDW. You might want to spend more time at the resort though (it's awesome!). You made the right choice.

We are FL residents so we got that deal. i just keep going back and forth now but i want to make sure i get the alligator bayou room bc thats the room i showed my 4yr old and told him we were getting i didnt realize there was the magnolia rooms and i know if we went to POP if wouldnt matter where we got a room

With POR there is a TS restaurant, the boat to DTD (which is much better than using the bus ) & you can also use POFQ's pool.
Yeeha Bob's show in the lounge several nights a week is family friendly. At non-peak times they share buses with POFQ But we have notice less sharing with every trip. The bus stops are covered.

For me, it would depend on the price difference. I recently had to book one night for my mom and I (we're arriving a day before the rest of our group) and I was able to book POR for about $30 more than a value resort on the same night. I opted for POR. Last summer we did a VERY budget trip, and I stayed at Pop Century. We had a wonderful time, and I'm glad to have saved some money. Pop is actually a great hotel, so if money is a concern, I wouldn't feel bad about staying in a value resort.. BUT if you can swing POR, it is beautiful and will give you some more space in the room.

I would stay with PoR. While I'm pretty happy wherever I stay there's just something about PoR!! Love the atmosphere. The food court. The DTD boat. The pool has a slide and a hot tub (value doesnt). Queen size beds at PoR. Value only has double.

The one thing about value that really got under my skin was the noises you can hear while inside your room. Doors slamming. Kids running. Toilets flushing. I know you're always going to hear that stuff in a hotel but it seemed more muffled in the moderates. I just slept better in the moderates.

Can i make sure i get the alligator bayou room? i would be so disappointed to get there and not get that room and so would the kids since this is their Christmas present

The only way to guarantee getting an Alligator Bayou room is to book a preferred room, since all preferred rooms are in the Alligator Bayou section.

We love POR and stay there often. But, if money is a concern switch to POP. The rooms are average, but the surroundings are really something children would enjoy. We love to stay there too.
You can request alligator bayou, but it is only a request and may not be honored. We love AB and make the request when we stay. We are about at 50-50. We are staying there next week and my fingers are crossed.

We would stick with POR. If you are looking for a value we would recommend AoA.

POR is my family's first choice for resorts. We love it there. Our first visit we were given a room in the mansions and they were nice. Our 2nd visit I requested a trundle room, which were only available in AB. Even as a party of 3, just me and my 2 sons, we were given a room in the AB area. I do like that area better as well.

Last year I decided to be a little more financially responsible and I downgraded our POR reservation to POP. Cheap Tickets had the same disney discount plus an additional 25% off and I was able to book 9 nights in the summer for under $1000. Too good to pass up. I liked POP. I'd stay there again. Even as a bright and colorful value resort, the lake area gives it a more peaceful vibe. I enjoyed sitting lakeside with my coffee in the morning as the kids were still sleeping. And by kids I mean my now teenage sons. :) My only real complaint is the pools close too early. 11 pm promptly in the summer, which we didn't like considering the parks were open past 12 am some nights and it meant no late night swims like in previous trips.

When my kids were little we did a couple of trips and did All Star Sports. I have boys so the sports theme was a hit with them. I have no complaints about it, but if we do value again it would be at POP. The moderates are a bit nicer, little larger room, much larger and prettier overall with some more amenities, like hot tubs by the pool. If the price is comfortable for you, I'd stay there. But if the savings is worth it to you, POP is a great place to stay too.

regards

Thanks everyone! Im just trying to also think what would be fun for the kids too and i dont think POR would be as fun and exciting for them i just looked at AoA and its a few bucks cheaper than POR but would be more interesting for the kids, and i would be guaranteed a LM room but with POR idk if i will get the alligator bayou. we are staying 3 nights. what does everyone think?

Our first time back we stayed at POP kids were 8 & 2 and loved it! Next trip we stayed POR and me and dh loved it more but the kids weren't as excited about it. They did love the pool though. I would take the beds into consideration at POP they are doubles and POR queens. Also consider how yiu usually travel.

I second this suggestion. It sounds like you really want Alligator, and if you book preferred not only do you get Alligator, you get prime location. It's a few bucks more but I think it would be a good move based on what you want. I just think, based on what i read, you'll have some regrets if you switch to POP.

i just looked and it ends up being $282 more for a preferred room for 3 nights, i dont think i want it that bad

If the money is too much for comfort at POR go with POP. It is a great resort and the kids will love it. You can walk across the bridge to AoA to see the theming and enjoy the food court there. LM rooms at AOA are quite a hike from the food court, but if you don't mind the walk, they are a good choice as well.

Mods are nice, but the value resorts are good too. I have stayed in all the values often. They are lots of fun and kids love them.

I agree with other posters. For 3 nights and with kids your kids ages I would go with Pop. Easy walk to AoA but a smaller price tag. My girls loved Pop when they were younger - and that was before AoA was there to see and visit. Although be aware the room is very small. It met our needs perfectly - a place to sleep - but wanted you to be aware going in.

With that being said, I would consider any of the values that you thought best matched their interests.

We are planning our next trip and possible first visit to POR. I am excited about it and so are my girls for the Pool and Slide, but when they were younger they wanted no part of it. They loved the in your face Disney feel of the Values.

im the most indecisive person ever i cant decide! they all look so good in there own ways

I'm on the Pop century train. We love Pop! It's a great value to get all the Disney perks (EMH, bus, ME, etc). We always use the money that we could've used on a "better" resort toward souvenirs and nice dinners and experiences. :) Happy planning :)
