This is our first time at a deluxe in 16 years. I was wondering about valet parking. Does WL have it or is it all self parking?

Valet parking is available for a daily fee; I honestly can't remember how much they charge.

We stayed there on our last trip and never used the valet. We didn't find self parking to be that long of a walk back.

Valet is $10 per night at the Disney resorts. The self parking is not too far from the Lodge, but it's a narrow, deep lot, so if you aren't parked in the first few spaces of the row, it seems farther than it is. There is a stairway in the middle of the grassy island in front of the entrance, or you can walk on the sidewalk around the island to the door.

I guess it won't matter how far it is for me.....DH will drop us off at the door and then go park in self. It will matter to him how far the walk is:rotfl:

I am sure he will use the self parking. Thanks

Yup, valet and self-parking. It can be a walk from the self parking if you get a bad spot. No problem in the morning, but it seems a lot longer when you're hot and tired. :)

The WL valet people aren't the worst on Disney property (that honor goes to the Contemporary), but I still think it beats self-parking. That's me, though. One of the reasons I prefer the Deluxes is the valet service. :)

I realize the OP isn't going to Valet park, but just for general information: That $10 does NOT go to the Valets, it's a fee charged by Disney. Tipping is still appropriate/expected.

So can you pull up to the front, unload, check in and the move the car to self parking, or do you need to unload and then go park before coming back up to check in.

I guess the short version is will they let you leave your car out front while you check in?

That's what I was wondering. Surely if you don't use valet you don't have to bring you luggage all the way from the parking lot. Also, if your room isn't ready when you first get there, I guess you have to leave them in the car till it is, huh? Hmmm, I don't mean to sound cheap, but I wonder if you could pay for valet the first day but then somehow not the rest of the week. Like, I guess there are two seperate parking lots or something so after unloading we could move it. I'm trying to get my point across here without sounding stupid, but it's not like we will be boing back and forth to our car every day and that's a lot of money that would accumulate to just let the car sit there.

Valet parking and Bell Services are two seperate things, you may pull up unload your car and have bell services store your luggage until your room is ready then just call and they will deliver it to your room. You may park your car in self parking then check-in but wait until your room is ready to unload your luggage. Pull the car back to the entrance have one person wait with the luggage until the car is reparked them take your own luggage to the room.

No there wouldn't be enough room for other arriving/departing guest, you may pull up long enough to unload but you aren't suppose to leave your car unattended.

Duh, I wasn't thinking about that. That's probably what I would do, I guess. As long as someone takes care of my luggage, I just can't see paying $10 per day for my car to just sit there.

I agree paying $10.00 a day for your car to just sit there is a nobrainer, a 10 day stay would be $100.00. If you were going to be driving to the parks it's nice just to call and have your car waiting on you with the AC on.

Just found this aerial view of the Lodge so everyone can see the parking lot, and how close it is to the front entrance.

I've never had a problem doing this, not at the WL specifically but at other Disney delux resorts it hasn't been a problem. We have been able to drive up to the resort and park the car, go check-in then come back to the car and have bell services unload the car. After bell services takes our bags, one person from the party takes the car to self-parking and the rest of the party goes to find the room.

We've never been told we couldn't do this, actually we've had someone come over to the car and tell us to go check-in and then come back to give bell services our info (name/room number) and get any bags we wished to take with us instead of having bell services take (like laptop bags, camera bags, purses, etc.)

I don't know how it works at the WL because we've never stayed there, but I doubt it'd be different from other delux resorts (unless some have more space than others).

That is what my family and I do when we arrive at the Contemporary, however we do it a different way then what you described. When we arrive the bellman take our luggage out of the car and then we inform the Cast Member working at the bell stand we are staying on the Atrium Club, so they call them to say we have arrived. After that my Dad drives the car to the self parking lot, meets my Mom and I in the lobby and we go up to the Atrium Club floor with the bellman and our luggage to check-in.

When we arrive at the Polynesian this December to check-in we plan to valet park since we have never stayed there before, however after that we plan to self park for our whole stay.
