1st time visiting a US park from Australia - Some questions

Interesting, thinking DLH then maybe.

Only going for 3 days, 2 nights, so 10 day pass would still work out to be more expensive. Will investigate further though.

If you book a Disney Hotel and the rate goes down prior to your trip, you can call and ask for the rate to be adjusted.

For the best rate with places on Harbor, you need to book early.
If you book a room at the Desert Inn & Suites for Sept 2017 you can get a room for $89 to $99 per night.
The Tropicana rate would be $159/night
Best Western Park Place Inn $160/night

For cheaper Disneyland hopper tickets try the American airlines australia site under activities, there tickets are a great price.

Thanks, this is really helpful

Have tried this - but the site is super old and whenever I search for activities in the "Disneyland Anaheim" area it only gives me theme parks in Florida? Very odd, will try again soon.

I'm not really sure what they have at DLP, never having planned a trip there, but if I'm comparing to WDW, I'd say all three of the DLR hotels would probably fit into the "deluxe" category over there. There's just no cheap-ish hotel option for on-site at DLR, unfortunately. Where at WDW you could get a room at one of the All-Star resorts for < $100/night (though maybe not that cheap at the time of year you're going), there's just no equivalent to WDW's "value" category of resorts at DLR if you really want to stay in one of the Disney-owned hotels.

Yeah, exactly. At DLP they have 5 hotels, and the the cheapest hotel on-site at DLR is the same amount it costs to stay in the premium "Disneyland Hotel" at Paris, which is literally on top of the gates into the main park!! And it's a beautiful hotel! Meanwhile I can pay the same to stay at Paradise Pier =/
