they are 1 and 3, the 3 year old will turn 4 while we are there! My question is we are staying at the Hyatt House, and I have made reservations for 2 character breakfasts. One is at 9am at PCH Grill, it says at Paradise Pier Hotel. We will be going to California adventure that day. Do we enter the park first and then go to the character breakfast or go to the hotel and park (or is it walking distance from where we are staying?). Is PCH Grill in Disney California Adventure Park or even close to it?

Another morning(my grandsons birthday) I made reservations at the Disneyland Hotel for Goofy's Kitchen Breakfast at Disneyland Hotel. That day we will be spending at the Disneyland Park. Do we enter the park or go directly to Disneyland Hotel and then enter the park....and is it walking distance from Hyatt House?

I'm feeling overwhelmed because I don't know where anything is in proximity to where we are staying and if the character breakfast are close to the parks we are going each day. I hope it all goes smoothly with the two little ones, I'm worried about my husband & I running around wasting time when I want it to be magical!

Thanks!

Neither breakfast is in the parks, but in the hotels. PCH Grill is in PPH and Goofy's is in DLH. You don't not need to enter the parks to access the hotels. There isn't access to those hotels through the parks anyway. What is the address of the Hyatt House where you are staying? Is it the one on Harbor? You can enter the hotel and the restaurants in Google Maps and get walking directions to see if it's too far for your group to walk. If you park at the hotel, you will then have to either move the car to another parking lot for the rest of the day or go back to the hotel and walk/shuttle to the parks. You'll lose a lot of morning park time doing a 9am breakfast and then either re-parking or returning to your hotel. You may want to switch at least 1 breakfast to a non-park day. Or switch your Goofy's reservation to Minnie's at Plaza Inn, which is in the park.

Yes the Harbor House says 1800 S. Harbor Blvd.
They are two boys, so I figured Minnie's breakfast wasn't as appealing as Goofy's breakfast, & my grandson loves Goofy!
So I won't park at the hotels & then move the car, thanks for that advice. So I can shuttle to the parks from those character breakfasts?
What does PPH stand for?

Here's an option to consider: You could take a taxi or Uber to PPH (Paradise Park Hotel) and the Disneyland Hotel and then walk to the park through Downtown Disney. You can also enter the park via the Monorail station in Downtown Disney when you have your breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel. Walking is in the eye of the beholder-- it depends on the kind of shape you are in and much you like to walk and push a stroller. I like using google maps and putting in the address of where you are and where you are going and see the distance.

I don't know, does your hotel have a shuttle or is it near ART? You could walk to the Toy Story lot, but it's about a half mile in the opposite direction from the parks. It's about 3/4 of a mile down Katella to PPH. It's over a mile any way you walk to Goofy's. Minnie is only 1 character at Minnie's, but I don't think Goofy is a regular character there.

That would require 2 child safety seats to avoid a relatively small amount of walking.

The Plaza Inn is where Minnie and Friends Character Breakfast is and the Plaza Inn is inside Disneyland. So you will need to have a ticket to enter the park to attend a CB there.

If you search, you'll find Minnie's has the most characters of all the CB's.
Storyteller's CB is at the Grand Californian Hotel, Goofy's the Disneyland Hotel and Surfs up Paradise Pier Hotel.
Each of those will have four or so characters come through. While they maybe very specific characters that won't be seen elsewhere, the Plaza Inn will have far more characters.

At Minnie's in October we saw the following 11 characters
Minnie
Chip and Dale both
Eeyore
Rafaki
Suzy and Pearl both
Tigger
Winnie the pooh
Max
Captain hook

On past visits we have also seen
Geppetto
Penguins

Enjoy your time in the parks

You will have to figure out the best way to get to each hotel, but you can walk from both hotels, through Downtown Disney and into the parks. There will be plenty of signage (or just ask the CMs at the hotel) to point you in the right direction.

I understand your reasons for wanting the two you picked, but just so you know, in case it matters, Minnie's has the largest number and best variety of any of the meals. I like Surfs Up, but don't like Goofy's since the change to a set 5 characters - especially 5 characters who are easy enough to find in Town Square. In any case, enjoy your trip!

PPH = Paradise Pier Hotel

I'm attaching a screenshot I took out of Google Maps to show what we're talking about here. Bear with me while I explain...
I'm assuming that you mean the Hyatt House that's at Harbor Blvd & Katella Ave. Let's say that you go to the Surf's Up breakfast at PPH. If you're walking, you walk to the left (follow the blue line) all the way down Katella Ave until you get to Disneyland Dr. Then you go up Disneyland Drive until you get to that first building that I've circled. That is the Paradise Pier Hotel.

The other blue circle that's farther up Disneyland Dr is the Disneyland Hotel (DLH). If you go to Goofy's Kitchen first thing for breakfast before you hit the parks, you have to walk all the way to DLH. Then to get to the main entrance to either DLH or DCA (the big blue "X" listed under Disneyland Resort), you follow the blue line that stretches to the right from the DLH. THAT blue line goes through DTD (Downtown Disney).

It's a pretty far walk for a 1 or 3 yr old. You'll need a stroller. If not a double stroller, then a stroller that has a standing plate sort of thing on it, designed for a toddler/preschooler older sibling to stand on and ride along. Otherwise, your grandchildren will run out of gas. It's this big distance that is why a lot of folks are recommending to switch to the Plaza Inn for breakfast inside the parks.

If you do the character breakfast at PPH, in order to get to either DL or DCA, you have to walk up the rest of Disneyland Dr and go through Downtown Disney. You can't cut through the Grand Californian Hotel anymore as of a few weeks ago (shortly before Christmas 2016).

If my kids were 1 and 3 and we were taking them to DL and it involved a birthday celebration and we wanted to do 2 character meals, here's what I'd do:
  1. Do 1 of the hotel-based character meals on a day that we are NOT going to the parks at all. I would go to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner on the evening that we arrived. OR I would go to Goofy's Kitchen or Surf's Up on the morning we were going to check out of our hotel and leave Anaheim.
  2. Skip EITHER Goofy's Kitchen or Surf's up and replace it with Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn. Do this on your DL day. Get to the DL main gate for "rope drop," which means getting your grandchildren to the security screening tents about 30 min before regular park opening (assuming that you're not using a Magic Morning entry). Eat a light breakfast at the hotel before you head to DL for the day. Go on rides for a couple of hours. Then have a late breakfast at the Plaza Inn...like 9:30 or 9:45 am reservation. So if regular park opening is at 8am, then your grandchildren get almost 2 hours of ride & attraction fun and JUST about when they are starting to get worn out and cranky, then you all get to SIT DOWN for an hour and have 7 CHARACTERS COME TO YOUR TABLE!! I've done this myself and I cannot tell you how great it is. It's going to save you so much back & forth walking time.
  3. Another option for the Surf's Up breakfast or Goofy's Kitchen is to do that on your DCA day, but go to DCA **FIRST** at rope drop. Again...eat a light breakfast at your hotel. Pack snacks in your park bag for the grandchildren since little ones tend to get hungry & cranky at random moments. Don't do the character breakfast first thing. Go on rides at DCA for 2-3 hours. Then leave DCA and go to the Disneyland Hotel for a "brunch" at Goofy's Kitchen. Basically at lunch time. So if your grandchildren usually eat lunch at 11:30 am, schedule the Goofy's Kitchen reservation for around that time and leave DCA at 11am. If you have park hopper tickets, hop over to DL and get on the monorail in Tomorrowland and use the monorail to go to Downtown Disney instead of walking the whole way. Then do the reverse on your way back when the Goofy's Kitchen meal is done.
Another great way to meet Goofy without having to wait very long is to be at Disneyland at the entrance to Toon Town an hour after regular park opening. If regular park opening is 8am ,then Toon Town opens its gates at 9am. Be at Toon Town at 9am. Goofy usually comes to the gate to open Toon Town. Follow Goofy and his handler to wherever they decide that Goofy will do his meet & greet and take pictures with Goofy there without having to wait a million years in line. And 20 min in line seems like an ETERNITY to a 1 yr old and 3 yr old! OR skip Goofy first thing at Toon Town and walk straight to Mickey's house and meet Mickey first and THEN meet Goofy on the street in Toon Town. So within probably 10 min, you'll get 2 meet and greets and your grandchildren will be overjoyed and thrilled beyond your imagination.

If you won't have a stroller with you, you really do need one. Rent one from Anaheim City Strollers. I've used them before. They will deliver to your hotel and pick up from the hotel when you're done with the stroller. Seriously...it's really essential. The Disneyland strollers cannot leave the esplanade area (the open area between the DL & DCA entrances), which will mean possibly carrying two heavy and very tired children all the way back to Hyatt House if you are walking.

NOT FUN!

We rented a stroller when our 2 kids were 4 and 6. It was a lifesaver. The younger kid rode in the stroller and the older one stood on the back of it while DH or I pushed. The kids quickly learned that they could save their energy by riding instead of walking the whole way. It helped them last longer throughout each day and kept a lot of the cranky's away. :-)

I switched Goofy's CB to a day when we are not going into a park. I made reservations for Minnie & Friends on the day that we will go to Disneyland Park. Is that correct?

I'm not sure where to eat breakfast on the day we are going to California Adventure park? Preferably in the park but with two boys I don't think Arials CB would be fun for them.

Yes, they will each have a stroller!

Thank you for mapping that all out
VandVsmama It's so hard to plan this! I just want it to be the best vacation with my grandkids!

You will know what works best for your family, but that is a lot of sit down restaurants and for me, a lot of wasted park time - and probably food. If you are doing later breakfasts (9-10am), I'd skip lunch (get counter service or even a snack) and just do dinner.

That said, maybe with the kids being so young, you'll appreciate the down time. For mine that would have been a lot of sitting.

That's a lot of table service dining for toddlers. Are you going back to the hotel for naps between meals? Sit down meals take up a lot of park time.

For breakfast inside DCA, how about a CS breakfast at Flo's V8 Cafe in Carsland? There are tables that overlook Radiator Springs Racers. Your grandsons might really enjoy that! How often do you get to eat breakfast while watching race cars zoom by?

Yes, I think that's a lot of "sit down" restaurants for the toddlers . When we went with our kids (age 2 and 5 ), we picked up smaller breakfasts on the way as we headed to the parks early. We took advantage of the early mornings and did a lot of rides. By 11:00-11:30, we had a lunch, either counter service or the Minne Buffet at the Plaza Inn. After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for some rest and swim. We then headed back to the parks to catch the parades and fireworks. Having that mid day break sure helped us extend our time in the parks. Toddlers can sure get restless, let alone sit in a restaurant three times a day. Hope it's works out.

As the grandmother of a just turned 6yo and 2yo, please take this as how it would turn out for us. It would become the worst vacation ever. Unless they are used to long drawn out meals all the time, this will go bad. Steakhouse 55 is a nice upscale meal, as are Carthay and Napa. They are very good with my granddaughter (6) but I won't take my grandson (soon to be 2) as it is too long of a meal for us to have a good time, and him to be happy sitting. For my granddaughter, they will get her "Goofy's" Mac and cheese as the truffled mac, while we love it, is not to her tastes. If you have additional adults, perhaps one can sit out the meal and take the kids to explore the hotel and Downtown Disney and the Lego store?

You want the best experience ever? Skip most of those meals. Do Goofy's on Sat. Get in the park at opening on Sunday, hit Bug's Land. The rides are designed for their age group. If the 4yo is tall enough, pull fastpasses for Racers. Hit Mater's and Luigi's. The 1yo could be tall enough, 32". Make time for a nap for the 1yo. Could they sleep in the stroller? Make time for the Redwood Creek area if it is open. And don't forget Operation Playtime. Kids love it.

In DIsneyland, there is SO much to see. Cutting half the day out by sit down meals will be hard. VandV has most of the ideas down.

how will you be getting to the parks everyday? Goofys is thru dtd so u can take whtever u will be taking to the park and walk to there its not to bad of a walk
