My family is heading to the WL on sunday for a 7 night 8 day stay. This will be our 1st time staying at the WL. I wanted to stay Club level but my wife didnt want to the pay the extra money($1500) it would have cost. I am planning to ask if there is any free upgrades when we get there, not expecting it to happen.
My question is, if we ask to be upgraded to club level at the front desk do you think it will be lower then if we booked it right away? I was hoping it would be under $1k for the upgrade. I might be a to talk my wife into then.
Also, would the club level be worth the price to upgrade? It will be my wife, 2 DD (10 yr and 8yr) and myself.

Thanks for any info or help anyone can give.

I stayed CL at WL in 2009. I love CL and think it is worth the extra money but that has been a discussion in many threads. I am staying CL again at Beach Club in April and we are not taking the dining plan..so for us we will utilize the lounge for a quick breakfast. My kids are not into character meals anymore which saves a lot of money...we have been to Disney many times..and this trip will be at a slower pace for us...meaning we will have 2 days we want to spend on a lounge chair and use the resort amenities.

So if you are spending all your time in the parks and doing sit down breakfast don't spend the money.....never hurts to ask how much to upgrade once you check in...you never know..hope this helped ;)

For us, CL is worth it. If you add it on at check in--it will be at rack rate and will be much more expensive. Much better/more economical to do it in advance. Also--upgrades are given as pixie dust--not by request :wizard:

Thanks for the info.
We are doing sit down dinners (some are taking 2 credits) and have one character breakfast set up. We are also using the meal plan. I just thought it would be nice to be able to get breakfast right in the area and bring it back to your room to eat. The kids could eat well you get ready and you could eat well they get ready. I would think that could speed things up in the AM. Also, be able to grab a bed time snack/cocktail at the end of the day. if we do have a day that we want to slow down then we can grab snacks right there.
I guess it will be a game time decision that we will make.

We just stayed at the Poly CL. We enjoyed it, but i doubt that we will do it again. You can buy a lot of breakfast and snacks with that $1500.

I would ask when you check in never hurt but you will pay rack rate. Can you call back Disney and ask if there are any offers out there that you can switch to club level? In my view club level is worth every penny but that is just MHO. Good luck. But I doubt that they will give it to you free. But if they have a room on club level & you are willing to pay full cost or see how much it will be it will be great :)

Have a great trip !! You will love the WL :goodvibes

stayed CL once and won't do it again. I think we got about $300 worth of food and drink for the $1100 it cost us at the time. Neat to experience once, but so is a root canal. :scared1:

Alas though. I always thought Disney should make a Pub level. WL would be a great place for it. One whole floor with a great pub, all adults breakfast snacks consisting of something like Advil, crackers and ice pack...oh and bloody Mary's. Lunch consisting of finger foods and light beer. Evening snacks like sandwiches, cheese and wine or lagers. Late night with pizza and shots! Now there I would get my moneys worth. :thumbsup2:cool1:

We love CL, but I'd never do that AND the dining plan. Way too much food; you'd be wasting money on one side or the other.
