Just made our first DVC ressie to our new home.

10 day'er - February 6-16th at SSR!!!:bounce:

DW says I'm nuts...:Pinkbounc

Congrats on the TEN DAY reservation! A great start to the next 50 years. DW may be right, but that's normal around here.

Wow...I have to wait until April 27th to make my 1st ressie!

Hi,

Congrats!!!! Have fun!

Allison an associate

Thanks!

Since we only drive to WDW from MD, (16 hours one way), we like staying a little bit longer. Plus it prolongs the "Magic" before the depressing drive home back to reality and work.

When we looked at DVC in December, the man who drove us from ASM to the sales center had been working for Disney for 34 years and driving for DVC for 12! Now that's some magic!

(Now if I can only convince DW to move there upon retirement in 10 years, then I could drive the bus.):scratchin

Congrats :)

I booked our first trip home for Oct 1st through 8th and can't wait.

Enjoy

Michael

BidDisneyKids,

We also drive from MD to disney every year. DW hates it - so we schedule to leave at night that way she sleeps most of the way in the Suburban (lots of room).

Congrats on your first reservation. We are looking forward to our first trip home in June.

Don & June, We're practically neighbors!

My family actually enjoys the drive. We do the same thing, leave late the night before planning our arrival to WDW around lunch time.

DW would love to buy a motorhome and drive aroung the country each summer (as long as there is a SuperWalmart nearby). Maybe someday?

Keep in touch on you're first trip in June.

:wave2: :wave2:

Congratulations!!!!!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

We stayed this year from Feb 6-16. Word of advice -- the parks get crazy the second weekend, are very slow the first weekend and just wonderful (especially the first Monday) throughout the week. It is a great time to go! I'm jealous! (Our next trip won't be until 2006!)

BornCinderella, would you than suggest changing the ressie from say the 1st through the 10th so to avoid the madness?

Our last 2 visits were during the first 10 days in December. Could the first 10 in February be compared (crowd wise) to the 1st 10 in Dec?

borncinderella....

thanks for the february ressie info. we were hoping to come down in feb. 06 for our DD's 5th b-day but it's the 2nd week in feb.

maybe we will do the first week in feb instead. i'm sure she wouldn't mind celebrating her b-day a week earlier in wdw. i know i wouldn't.

We went from February 5th to the 15th this year. The parks were not crowded at all. We did not go on the 14th. The resorts appeared to more crowded that day. We also went to Universal for the first time and walked on virtually every ride. On the 13th we went to AK for about 4 hours and were able to do every ride but Kali River (too cold) and did not wait to see Lion King show. We then went to MGM at about 3:00 and saw Indy Jones, Star Tours and Rock and Roller Coaster.

The only issue is the weather. It can be very nice or very cold. One day, the high was 52 but we also got 1 day when it was warm enough to go to Blizzard Beach. We swam about half the days. It is definitely a time I may consider going again.

Just made my ressies for September 2-10 last week. In fact, I received my confirmation in the mail yesterday. :)

BornCinderella,

Thanks for the Feb. crowd info. I called MS today and changed it to the last 10 nights in Januaray instead. In the end we wound up saving 11 points from the move!

Please what ever you do, don't tell me that's not a good time either?

But thanks for the help.:earsboy:

Wow, I just logged back in.
Glad I could be of help.

To be a little more specific about our trip:
Went to AK the first Sat, MK the first Sun. Heaven -- hardly any lines. Nothing was over 20 minutes (I think we went on "It's a Small World" 3 times in 30 minutes -- my three year old DD could not get enough of it!) Even during that week, same story (a little busier midweek at MGM, but still able to see everything). We would get fast-pass tickets about 3-4 times each day for different rides, ride another ride, and go back to use the fast pass (could have done this more often, but we had a group of 11 to keep together!).

MK on Feb 14 was twice to three times the crowd, raining, and no one left! We could do one fast pass in the morning, possibly a second if we pushed it (we didn't), but by the mid afternoon, wait times were close to closing (and the weather did not permit us to hand around). We were a little disappointed (granted, to the seasoned WDW traveler, the crowds may have been "normal," and we were just spoiled), so we went shopping at DTD the next day. Again, twice the crowds, twice the wait to eat.

I cannot comment on December or January (sorry -- we've only ever done February!), but I can say the lack of crowds SO makes up for the shorter hours! Totally worth it on the off-season, and I highly recommend it. (I am not one to drag children out of school to travel, but this was a reunion. Once we did it, though, I'm not sure I can go back to a busier season!)

Fink26 is right about the weather -- very iffy this time of year (but no comparison to where we came from!).

Have fun at SSR!

This year we're going to WDW 3 times...OKW in April and driving from NJ..we leave in 7 days!! The other two trips we've decided to take the auto train down and save some drive time. We'll be in SSR for the first time in August - can't wait to see it. December trip will be switching resorts in mid-visit for the first time; start out at SSR then switch to BCV. Wish us luck!

I may be nuts, but I actually find the drive somewhat relaxing, especially during the ride home as the DW & DK's are decompressing.

Best of luck to all of you mid-atlantic commuters!:wave2:

We are doing our first drive down in September from SE Pennsylvania. Will definitely be cheaper than flying w/ our 3 kids and nephew. Already not looking forward to the drive home. Totally psyched about the drive down.

You will have the place to yourself in january. The thing about Feburary is when you get close to President's Week it becomes a mad house down there. The first week in Feb is always nice. At any rate, swimming in Jan is possible but sitting out of the pool might not be. You should have a great time. Have you found out where you are going to put that trailer you plan on pulling down there??:D

Not found an answer to my utility trailer, but not really concerned. We only used it once when we took my parents, 2 DK's, the DW and I in one vehicle. The trailer made it quite comfortable and very manageable. DW said we looked like the Griswalds going to Florida. It actually was fun, my parents haven't had a chance to bond with the kids and us in a long time.

I'm glad to hear we'll be alone (relatively speaking) in January. We're not really concerned about swimming this time. But than again, the DK's will swim no matter what the temperature is!

We're excited and can't wait.:Pinkbounc :bounce:
