On Saturday (the 13th) we took a daytrip to DLP and bought APs. We've been before (2 separate summer daytrips in 2012). Cast: Me and my husband, my husband's parents who were visiting us in Paris, DD1 (14 yrs), DD2 (10), DS1 (7), DS2 (4).
I'm going to start with the lows just because I want to end on a happy note!
There aren't many lows anyway.
Lows:
1. Not being able to get anything done in the morning: we bought our annual passes in the morning and so between the ticket office line and the AP bureau line we lost our favorite time to ride things in DLP: right after rope drop.
2. The crowds: we did go on a Saturday, so it makes sense I guess, but the crowds were bigger than expected. I'm certain that there were more people than in 2012, which of course made it harder to do things.
3. Having to split up for every attraction: my husband's father has back problems and has a hard time walking, so we got a wheelchair and priority card for him. Unfortunately this meant that we had to split up for every ride we did. I understand that a limit is necessary on the number of helpers that can go in the disabled line, but we wasted a lot of time trying to find each other after attractions.
4. Not getting to ride Ratatouille: I was expecting this because of the AP bureau, but by the time we were done the line was horrendous. My in-laws got to ride it though, and we'll have other chances, so it's ok.
Highs:
1. Pirates: we went the day after a refurb, so it was newly opened and I was soooooo happy to see the swinging pirate swinging and the dueling ones dueling! I have no idea if this is new or not but it made me happy anyway.
2. DMOP: we got great spots with the in-laws and kids in the disabled area and us right behind the dividing rope. The disabled area is a fantastic spot; there was hardly anyone there and DD1 got lots of great pictures with the castle in the background. Apparently there was some great character interaction too.
3. Peter Pan: the nice CM let us use the FP lane even though we were late-pretty late too. So we skipped the line and got right on. Unfortunately just before unloading (the scene with the mermaids) the ride had technical problems and stopped for about ten minutes. It was ok though; they turned the lights on and DD1 got some pictures of those mermaids that probably wouldn't have been possible otherwise
4. Toad Hall: we had linner here and I highly recommend it; the food is good, the theming is fun, and if you share a double fish and chips between every 2 people in your party it's pretty affordable!
5. BTM: DS2 had his first ride on this and loved it. Always fun-use FP though.
6. Random Dreams fountains (what do I call this?): we happened to be right by the castle when they happened and it was a nice surprise.
7. IASW: always love this ride and the great CMs worked it out with the in-laws so they could wait and ride together with us.
8. Dreams: we had a fantastic spot this time (just behind the right front flower bed on main st) that was totally worth staking out a spot for 1.5 hrs early. We were tired and needed a rest anyway so why not? We also loved seeing the new scenes we hadn't seen before. Of course the show is amazing and DD1 had fun photographing it with the DSLR. I even got an ok picture with my phone lol!
Overall it was a fantastic day! We're planning on going back next month for Halloween-don't know when yet though- and I already can't wait!!
