I don't understand why on Earth you would have two parties for a first communion. That makes no sense. Just attend, act nice, and that's that.
Also, the "drama" about a dress is not needed. Take a deep breath, pick out a dress for your daughter, and be done with it. I believe simple is better. My daughter didn't wear a veil (very few do any more, and it wasn't encouraged at our church), rather a simple headband.
