1st DVC Booking - Oct 2008

We're looking to book a 2BR in SSR for Oct 2008. This will be our first DVC booking. Will we have trouble booking this 10.5 months out? Our friends are still sorting out their schedules and we should be able to book this next week. Any thoughts would be appreciated!!
We'll be borrowing our 120 DEC2008 points for this booking, but that's ok since we plan on going every other year to WDW.

I would be totally shocked if you had trouble getting a 2 bedroom unit at SSR 10 months out.

In fact, it would be a surprise if you had trouble getting it at 7 months.

SSR is the largest WDW DVC resort and is the one most likely to have availability for shorter notice vacations (which yours is most definitely NOT)!

Please do not worry - you will get your reservation for October 2008. No need for you or your friends to feel rushed.

We own at SSR and booked a reservation for the first week in August of this year. We made our reservation the first week in May of this year and had NO problems. We stayed in a two BR. We have also stayed in the month of October (mid) of last year. We made those reservations in April of last year and even got the Grand Villa and a two BR villa. You wont have any trouble.

For what it's worth, our home resort is SSR. We just recently booked a 2-br for spring break (which is peak time). It was 5 months out and the only ressies left were at SSR. As the OP said, SSR is so big that they will have ressies after other resorts are full. At the 10-month window, you'll be just fine! Have a wonderful and safe trip!!!

How is the availability at OKW as well at the 7 month window?

I just logged into my account and it shows I have 2008 and 2009 points available to borrow, I have a DEC UY.

We've never had any problems booking OKW at any time (4, 5, 6 months out) except this coming trip in March. My BIL/SIL own at OKW and wanted to stay there. Rooms weren't avialable, so we booked at SSR. Other than that, I have never had an issue booking. This is the first time we've tried to travel during peak season, though. I would say it's tough to get anything during peak times (Christmas, Spring Break, etc.) unless you book at least 5 or 6 months in advance.

For an October 2008 trip, the stay is in your 2007 use year so you would only be able to borrow 2008. I believe the only time you can borrow 2 years is for the cruise.
