My family and I are planning to go on our 1st Disney Vacation Trip :woohoo: and I need advice. I was scanning vacation plans however, it seems like they are for the 2006 Season. Do most people plan a year in advanced or do you wait for the planning the same year you go??? Any advice would be great! Thank you!!!

Both trips I have planned have been 6 months in advance. Some people plan up to a couple of years out. :) Hope your trip is great!!

We took a trip to WDW in March 2005 and I was planning about 9 months before. We are going next May (2007) and I started planning last month. *blushing*

Where do you suggest I start looking? I was looking up some things and it seems like all their deals are for this year-maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? :confused3

I planned the last trip 4 months out, upon our return the way I beat the post trip depression was to begin planning the next trip which was 2 weeks shy of a year out.

The first thing is when are you going? I think the 2nd decision is where to stay. Then you can work out all the details as you get closer to your arrival dates. If planning on having restaurant reservations, you can make them 180 days prior to your check in date.

If 2007, the package rates are not yet available however you can make room only reservations.

Happy planning it is half the fun

I don't think i've planned any of my trips to Disney more than 6 months in advance and I've had no problems. In fact, 2 of the trips were planned in a month or less. Since it's your first trip i'd recommend planning about 6 months in advance cuz you'll want it to be perfect!

i dont think it should be a problem booking a trip within 6 months-my biggest problem usually is getting the airline reservation-especially during school breaks

Suggest you check out mousesaver.com, allearsnet.com, and the DIS home of wdwinfo.com.
As someone suggested, first figure out when you want to go and where you want to stay. You can book a room only now for 2007 and if any deals come out next year you can change your reservation. Also keep reading these boards for great ideas.
Happy Planning!

In the past I started planning four to six months out. This next trip we're taking I started at nine months out. One, because I had the time since I was off work recovering from major surgery and two, because it's a much bigger project this time around with us doing the premium plan. Some people plan years in advance. There's nothing wrong with that since planning is half the fun!

I plan 331 days out....when the airlines release their rates. I've found the best deals on release day.
