Okay,
First let me say I LOVE BWV and don't really want to stay anywhere else at this point. For this particular stage in life, combined with the ages of my children, BWV is a good fit for us due to location, action, shopping, etc.

However, I have my first negative thing to say about the place. I believe it has been mentioned on the boards many times, but until I actually experienced it, I didn't understand. Those darn hallways are awful if you are "put in the wrong place". My room couldn't have been further from the elevator (except for maybe two other units). When traveling with small children (one in a stroller), the elevator is essential. After a long night, or simply wanting to "run down to the gift shop", this trek was unbearable!

Can you ask for a room close to the elevator? If so, when should one do this? At booking time or check in time? Any other ways to avoid this?

You can request it when you book.

Unbearable? How did you manage to get around the parks?

I think we stayed in that room! Ours was a studio - 3rd from the end - we walked a mile every time we needed to go somewhere.

Well, I was traveling with a 2 year old, a four year old, and a five year old.

I explained that it was unbearable AFTER a long night (and day at the park) or wanting to "run down to the gift shop". I was exaggerating a bit. Also, don't know what stage of life you are in right now, but traveling with 3 kids at the age of 5 or under can be a handful and being close to the elevator is helpful.

:rolleyes1
It can be simply tedious in the AM, but at the end of walking all day/night in the parks (& with young ones or for older patrons or for those with foot problems)...:scared1:

These dogs are barking, :dog: pug: :dog2:

LOL :rotfl2:

I have had the privilege of staying in those rooms twice. I actually timed how long it took to walk from the room to the elevator once, and if memory serves me, it was close to 5 minutes at a slow pace.

I also have small children and can appreciate your complaints. At least it is quiet at the end of the hall!

It wasn't a significant deal for us, even when we had the kids with us. Most folks walk 5-6 miles per day visiting WDW, so the less-than 1/10th of a mile walk from the elevator to the room was a drop in the bucket.

We've been in the rooms that overlook the valet parking lot & tennis courts... Anyhow, the stroller is your problem, can you fold it up & carry it down the stairs? There's a stairwell right there, actually making it quite convenient to the bus :wizard:

But, should you choose to be near the elevator, you can ask for that request right up until check in time :thumbsup2

All valid points to some BUT........ I had to laugh after reading your name :rotfl:

We had room 4001- The last Boardwalk View room next to Jelly Rolls. It is a long walk. We found it faster to walk down the stair and walk the boardwalk (at least the long walk was scenic) and even to catch the bus from the Swan hotel.

I agree after a long day at the parks you'd think they'd have more elevators closer to the rooms. This is the only negative I have about the boardwalk too.

Even marathoners get tired...

Especially when minding/pushing the kiddoes :sunny:

We all like to stay out in the parks as much as possible, then, some (me, big time) of us, woefully misjudge how much steam we have left :goodvibes

We had that same room. It was a long walk but we loved it! We often got off the bus at the Swan and then up that back stairway.

The view was definately worth it!

The biggest problem is that when you are walking in the parks, there is so much to see and listen to. When you are trudging down those BWV corridors, there is nothing at all to see and if someone is coming the opposite direction from you, you have to lean up against the wall because they seem so narrow. VWL and BCV are similar, only not as long.

Hey Deb, the one advantage to being in the hall at VWL is you still feel like you are in a part of the show, aka, The Shining. That is one spooky hall to walk at night by yourself:hmghost: :scared1:

We where it studio 3133 a long walk to the elevators, found going down stairs, thur the hall to the door was close to the bus stop. Did the same when returning.

You know, that's so true, I "feel" it. It's something I totally overlook when I tell the truth, that VWL is my favorite on site DVE!

Getting back to BWV, we've had nice views from the sv rooms that are far away from the elevators. I can't walk down the steps without hurting myself, (up is OK), but I did on our last trip in January, and my feet are still paying the price. I'll walk to the elevators the next time.

Again . . . it more has to do with tired toddlers, but I will I admit I was beat, too.

And I will not "bicker" with bicker. I know from reading the boards that no one can "win" a debate here. If my name, marathonmommy, means I (or my kids) can't be tired at the end of the day, imagine having a different point of view than someone with the name "bicker" . . .
