Probably a silly question:

Is it possible to reserve a 2B and receive separate 1B and Studio units that are NOT connected?

We may be traveling with friends, and thought it might be nice to give them the privacy of a non-connected studio. I know that you can always "lock-off" the rooms, but I just think the physical separation might be appreciated by everyone--particularly if one of our family members ends up using the sofabed in the living area.

So is this possible, or must we pay the additional 2-4 points per night and actually reserve separate Studio and 1B accommodations?

Nope, sorry, you would have to book them as separate rooms to have a separation. You could book a two-bedroom lockoff. It is listed on the confirmation whether it is a lockoff or dedicated, but I'm not certain of that is guaranteed. However, if you stay at BWV, all two-bedrooms are lockoffs. You wouldn't have the separation, but you'd save the points. It's really up to you to decide whether the extra points are worth it to have the rooms further apart.

An additional benefit I just thought of (and edited to add) is that if you do book two different rooms and spend the extra points, you'll each be able to have charging privileges on your own credit cards. With a lockoff, you can't specify charges to go on different cards. The cards are numbered, making it easier to settle up at the end, but if you each want to be able to charge your own stuff to your own cards, the two different rooms will work better.

If you booked at BWV or BCV or VWL, most of the units ARE lock offs. At OKW you could request a lock off, but if you want them seperated, you would have to use points for a 1 bedroom plus points for a studio. We have had guests in the lock-off portion of the 2 bedroom keep pretty much to themselves, and it was not an issue.

Unless you really want to get away, just get the lockoff. They'll have their own TV and bath but will have accesss to the LR if they want. You could always lock it off yourself but that might generate conflict.

I definitely see where two independent rooms is much more private. Your just not obligated to open the door and mingle if you don't feel like it.

I tell you what would be a real bummer-- If you splurged for two different rooms, then after going to your separate rooms, you find yourselves in both halves of a lock-off. :teeth:
