And the lyrics:

BOWLING FOR SOUP LYRICS

"1985"

Woohoohoo
Woohoohoo

Debbie just hit the wall
she never had it all
one Prozac a day
husbands a CPA
her dreams went out the door
when she turned twenty four
only been with one man
what happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
she was gonna be a star
she was gonna shake her ***
on the hood of white snake’s car
her yellow SUV is now the enemy
looks at her average life
and nothing has been alright since

Bruce Springstein, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
cuz she's still preoccupied
with 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo
(1985)
Woohoohoo

She’s seen all the classics
she knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
even Saint Elmo’s Fire
she rocked out to wham
not a big Limp Bizkit fan
thought she’d get a hand
on a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
and who’s the other guy that's singing in Van Halen
when did reality become T.V.
what ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio was)

Bruce Springstein, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
cuz she's still preoccupied
with 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo

She hates time make it stop
when did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

Bruce Springstein, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
her two kids in high school
they tell her that she’s uncool
cuz she's still preoccupied
with 1985

Woohoohoo

Bruce Springstein, Madonna
way before Nirvana
there was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV (woohoohoo)
her two kids in high school

The video is very funny. My daughter has their earlier CD.

I adore this song! I'm a bit embarrassed to say I can relate to it just a bit. :o

It hits too close to home.

I was listening to The Psychedelic Furs "Mirror Moves" on the way to work this morning and remembering when I third row seats to their concert in--believe it or not--1985! :rolleyes1 :teeth:

Just have to interject here, Barb, and tell you that I was 11 (yes, eleven!!) in 1985. :teeth:

He he he he :hyper:

But, it does hit a little close to home.... :)

OH MY GOD...you were just 11 the year my baby girl was born and you already have your own not-such-a-baby-anymore girl! Now I really feel old.

(and my daughter says she thinks of me every time she hears this really funny song--I said let me guess--1985.)

Associates of Occupational Study

I know I know, I'm not the most formally educated person. (But I'm very street smart and have plenty of common sense! )

Barb You know, it's not what you've got, but WHAT YOU DO with what you've got that's important!

Me, I've got a BS in Special Ed. Never used it.
Boy am I glad I took out a loan to finish my senior year.

Actually, I am glad I finished, but not using it in the last 9 years is kinda bothersome. Of course now I've even decided that I probably will NEVER use it since I don't want to do that after my kids go back. STILL don't know what I want to be when I grow up! Ask me in 3 or 4 years! :teeth:

ummmm... excuse me.... I'm an 80's gal here. The correct spelling is Motley Crue.... not Motley Crew. I loved the 80's and Motley is something that is still dear to my heart, so I must correct you. :p

:( But I cut and pasted it from a lyrics website. Please don't kill the messenger. :(

:p

I graduated from high school in 1985...suddenly I feel older...

Laurie :)

1985 is very relative to me, I was 15 and remember everything Bowling for Soup sings about. The video is hysterical!

Hey Barb! I was 14 in 1985. Woo Hoo! That song definitely brings back memories.

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!!!

I totally relate to this song . . .for a couple of reasons

1. My name is Debbie
2. I graduated h.s. in 1985

:teeth:

Wasn't it Tawney Kitane (sp?) who was the chick on the hood of the car in the White Snake video?
