1980s Day During Spirit Week - Need Ideas

Our school is having 80s day next week as part of our School Spirit Week for Homecoming. I was wondering what was the first thing everybody thinks of when they think of 80s fashion.

I thought of acid washed jeans. But, I need some more ideas. It would be nice if VH1 had I Love the 80s on right now.

My daughter just went to an 80's dance at her high school. How about:

leg warmers
BIG hair w/ lots of hairspray
cowl neck sweaters - stud earrings pinned to the cowl neck
tapered jeans & high heel shoes
spandex pants w/ tunic w/ the high heel shoes!

My daughter said they had an "awesome & amazing" time (her words).

How Fun!!
I think of acid wash jeans, tight rolled pants, sweaters off the shoulder (a'la Flashdance). Those jelly bracelets all over, watches up the arm, jelly shoes or socks where you flip flop the colors and layer them. (1 foot has black then red, the other foot red then black)
Definitly big hair. Well, that's all girls..
If you have a boy... parachute pants definitly!

Oh, you definitely need to do the Flashdance cut up sweatshirt!

I knew this day would come for dd and I've saved one of my 80's outfits especially for her. Calvin Kleins (I was skinny--they are just tiny!), and one of those big sweaters with the V neck that you could wear with a tank top with the V either at the front or the back, and the Madonna black rubber bracelets. I've got it packed away in a drawer for when this occasion arises.

And, I know how to cut up the sweatshirts!

ETA: Oops...for guys...an Izod shirt with the collar turned up. I've seen these in the stores again recently.

Thin decorative headbands worn on the forehead for girls & scunchie socks!

oversized shirts w/ elastic belt
Madonna- lace shirts etc.

Just watching Married with Children, Cosby Show, Family Ties would give you alot ideas. Or go to NIck or TV Land TV schedules to see if any other shows are on.

Thanks! I might go to the Goodwill and get a nice 80s shirt. Then who knows what else I will get. The coller-up look would be easy to do as well.

Yeah, I agree. Don't forget the "boat" shoes (white sole, brown uppers) with no socks.

You guys at least it sounds like you have a cool theme. Our homecoming theme is, "Eagles Migrate because Rams Dominate." That's just stupid!

But being born in 1989, I can't help you out.

The girls stuff has already been mentioned, the Madonna wanna-be look (don't forget the footless tights), Flashdance, or something with really big shoulder pads, anything in metalic fabrics.

Our theme is Venice, Italy. 80s is just the theme of Tuesday. Each day we do a different theme to dress up as.

Monday - Nerd Day
Tuesday - 80s Day
Wed - Camo Day
Thursday - Class Day (each grade does a different theme, Seniors are Tie-Dye)
Friday - Blue and Gold
