Opinions / advice please.

I'm trying to decide between 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickeys for late breakfast / early lunch. Although, I am open to other suggestions.

We are two adults. No kids.
Don't care about meeting characters. Just trying to burn a remaining TS credit.
Never been to either restaurant before.

This meal will be our first meal of this Disney trip, so I was looking for something fun to set the tone.

We are staying at Coronado and plan on doing a half day at MK starting around 1pm. I'm not really seeing any great TS in the park to book. I have BOG and LTT booked for a different day, and those are really our only must do restaurants in MK. We are burnt out on CP, used to be our go to before-park-ADR back when it counted, and CRT is 2 credits, so that is out as we only have 1 credit left. I don't think we have time to go to DS or any of the non-MK hotels, so that really only leaves the MK hotels which is how I came up with the above options.

My delima:
I like the menu for 1900 Park Fare but am not a big fan of the decor. It reminds me of CP, and I'm not sure I want to do something so similar. Especially, if the characters ended up being WTP characters. I could just book CP, and it would be in the park, saving me travel time.

I like the fun Mickey theme of CM which I think would set the right tone for the start of the trip, but I'm not a fan of a lot of what is listed on the menu.

Both of us have pretty simple tastes. We are pretty stereotypical middle class southern girls. We like Crackerbarrel, Sweet Tomatoes, PF Chang, Chipotle, and Carrabbas, to name a few chains people might be familiar with. The Three Broomsticks is one of our favorite restaurants at Uni, followed by Bubba Gump, Cowfish, and the Kitchen. We aren't looking for a gourmet meal.

Any thoughts, ideas are welcome.

Thanks

The last time I ate at both they had very similar menus... Are you looking at Disney's menu on their site? I've found that WDW info's menus are more accurate and detailed.

I think 1900 has better quality food compared to Chef Mickey's, but Chef Mickey's does have a more exciting atmosphere.

Both have the same transportation options to and from MK.

You get the Fab Five at Chef Mickey's but at 1900 you get Mad Hatter, Alice, Winnie, and Tigger.

It's kind of a wash in my opinion.

1900 has better food in my opinion. Also feels less sticky and I enjoy the calmer atmosphere.

Other suggestion - check out the menu for Whispering Canyon at WL to see if that appeals to you. It's just a boat ride away from MK. No characters, but it's super fun! Ask for ketchup and water . . .

I would say 1900 is better for adults, food is a little better and the characters are fun to interact with.

Between 1900 and CM, I would pick 1900, for the calmer atmosphere and better food, even if you don't like the decor.

Other possibilities: Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe (although that decor is a LOT like CP), or Whispering Canyon - no characters, good food.

I did think about WP. It was on our list for years to try when the kids were younger, and it just never worked out. I wasn't sure about the boat though. I know sometimes that can be slow, and I was thinking it might also be cold in Jan on the water. We've also been to the WL before, but we've never been to either of the other hotels. Do you guys think on the 7th of January there will be any decorations still up at the hotels or do they come down right after New Years? That might make the decision easier if one hotel is worth a visit over another.

I actually have a question that is similar enough to post on here. I have a breakfast scheduled at 1900 PF and a dinner at CP. They aren't in the same day, but I'm still thinking that might be Winnie overkill. Has anyone done both of these in one trip? I love Winnie the Pooh, but not sure how my 9 yo niece will feel. Are they different enough to do both?

They are going to be remodeling Chef Mickeys while we are there at the end of November beginning of December. I'm trying to decide if I should drop my ADR for it because it will be temporarily relocated to the convention center at the Contemporary... I'm picturing a room that looks like a wedding should be taking place in it instead of a restaurant. Ughhhh

My wife and I are in our 60's. While we do dine at both Mickey's and Park Fare, I think we have more fun at Park Fare. The charaecters are live people that you interact with rather than Mickey and Minnie and the crew who cannot verbally respond to you. We love getting the sisters, Anastasia and Drizella all worked up. Especially when Mother comes over and chides the girls and makes them stand in a corner. If I had to pick one, it would be 1900 Park Fare. As a matter of fact, I will be dining there in 5 days.

PF used to have better food, but now they're both pretty bad. The characters have better interaction at PF, but the selection is better at CM.

Having done both I would recommend 1900. The food is better and even though you have said characters aren't a reason they interaction at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast is a hoot.

Without a child clamouring to go to Chef Mickey 's, I would avoid it. 1900 Park Faire is much more relaxing, and having face characters that you can converse with is much more fun than only costumed characters: especially since you aren't going for that. The food is also a bit fresher, since it is smaller.
