1900 Park Fare - My Recent Experience

For all of you who are considering canceling you have to understand that you have to take every review with a grain of salt.

We went to 1900 Park Fare in January, and while it wasn't our best meal overall, it wasn't the worst, and the character interaction was by far the best we had our entire trip.
With that said I wasn't particularly fond of the food, but I wasn't fond of any of the character buffets we went to.

Also it seems to me that the OP's problem had a lot to do with a computer problem, which I'm sure is very common right now since they are changing systems. This means that it could happen at any of the restaurants.
Honestly I think right now would be the best time to do Park Fare, because they just went through this crisis and probably learned a lot from the experience. They probably got a lot of complaints and will be improved at least for a little while.

You're right. I'm going to let this go, stick with my original plan and stop second guessing myself!!! Besides, the chances of me changing my ressies to Ohanas in August are slim to none anyway!

I didn't mean for people to cancel their ressies over this. i just wanted to share my experience. i am really hoping that they had an off night. and the rest of you are right, everyone has their opinions.

if you are on the dining plan, definitely go.

i agree with a pp that said try to get a table in the main area, especially right next to the door that the characters come out of, they had LOADS of visits from characters and were always the first ones to be visited. if you cannot get a table in the main area, the next area they move to is the area by the entrance door, then the back area, then the right side area. again, my experience.

i have been there once before about two years ago, sat in the right hand area. had a BLAST, the food was WONDERFUL, and it was worth every penny!

just my opionion :)

I would say to go and try it for yourself. We have been several times and we love it. It's not just about the food for us, it's visiting the Resort and seeing the characters too. It's just worth it in my opinion. I will say that my sister didn't like the food at all, she said that the kids section looked better, but that's her opinion. Everyone has different taste. ;)

I have been to 1900 Park Faire for dinner and breakfast and think the food is ok...edible, and even some good things, but the character interaction is quite good!...I am sorry the OP had bad interaction, but you can tell the handlers who you did not see and they will wrangle them over for you to meet.

That said, I did have a late seating one year and it was like a drive by sighting! They do allow you to wait to see all the characters which creates the seating delay. Also, if you go up to the buffet when the characters are coming, it's hard for them to realize...there is sort of a walk around pattern they follow.

People love Chef Mickey's and I think their food is worse. I was not crazy about LTT's food, but loved the character interaction  so booked anyway!

Book character dining based on characters, and if the food is good that's a bonus....That's the safest way to play it!

at breakfast:
...The Mad Hatter is very in character:obnoxious, but nice, and when Mary Poppins is there she is great too! Tigger bounces, Alice is serious, etc.

1900 Park Fare is on our must do list, both the breakfast and the dinner. The combination of food and characters is very good at both. The nice thing about the buffets is that they have unique and different stuff, not just the same old, same old that you find at many buffets. Both meals have the best food item on property.......the strawberry soup!

That said, I will caution the following based on our most recent experiences (December 2008).

Breakfast is good any time during the service.

Dinner.....well, I'd suggest avoiding late dinner reservations. For starters, the later the reservation the more likely you are to have to wait for a table. Second, by late in the service the food quality declines. Last December we at there at close to 9pm and the food on the buffet was sub-par. The previous August we had an early (5pm) dinner reservation and all the food was hot and fresh. So, we'll continue to have dinner here, but it will be an early reservation.

Well we plan in eating there this coming Sept. (1st trip) and was planning on eating breakfast @8am so should I reconsider and maybe book something else?
