1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's

We're eating at Chef Mickey's for dinner our first night and 1900 Park Fare our second night. Can someone who's been to these please tell me what to expect? I have no idea what to tell the children. They like their bedtime "stories" to be what are we gonna do at Disney stories. Are there shows or is it a meet and greet or what? Will the characters sign autographs?

Hello. Both are buffet restaurants. You will be seated and the hostess/host will tell you about how the characters will each come separately to your table to greet your family. They ask you to place your children near the aisle, so it is easy for them to get up and pose for the photos. If you have an autograph book, they ask you to have it open and ready to sign. There aren't really any shows per say, but at Chef Mickey's everyone participates in a napkin twirling to music thing while the characters kind of parade around, and at 1900 PF, there is a waltz, I believe, that you watch Cinderella do, and the ugly step sisters and step mother "perform" sometimes loudly enough to get everyone's attention. That's all I am aware of, unless things have changed since I was there last. Good dining choices...we're doing both this June!

The Characters come to each table and "greet" the people sitting there, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Depending on how busy it is you can see the same character more then once. Chef Mickeys I think by the time we were done we had seen everyone twice Mickey three times. I have not done 1900 for Dinner but at breakfast I bounced with Tigger and my DS had a blast palying with Mad Hatter, Alice sat on the floor with my DD and they had so much fun. Character meals are what you make them. If you just sit then they really just a meet and greet but if you play the characters will play back.

We're going to 1900 in May also. And I have to agree with you, I wasn't at all impressed with CM.

I don't know how old your girls are, but my best advice is don't be afraid to talk to the characters. Example: My DS9 asked Cinderella where Jaq and Gus were, DD5 told Minnie how much she loved her and showed her the Minnie t-shirt she was wearing etc...Even the ones who don't talk do a great job communicating with body language. Also, if someone has a favorite character and wants a picture alone with them, don't be afraid to speak up. I.E. "Minnie, Suzy really loves you, could we get a picture with just you and her and then one with everyone?" Increasing your interaction with the characters can help enhance the experience.

I think you will love both....i have done both and it is really about the kids and they had agreat time at both!!
