I have college aged kids going with us, and I was confused about the new name of the college group so I wrote and asked Disney if the age cut off is actually 18-20 year olds. Here is their reply:

Thank you for choosing another Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

On all of our ships, we offer a special activity for our Guests who are
18 - 25 years of age. Club 18*21 provides an opportunity for this age
group to meet for events and lunch. Once onboard, please check your
Personal Navigator for times and locations.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

I am so happy! This will make the trip more fun for my kids to get to meet others their age.

Just thought I would post this in case any one else has this situation.

Here's another case of the CMs at DCL not always knowing the correct answer. The club used to be Club 18*21. Now it's the 1820 society. I just pulled this from a recent Navigator:

I've heard varying reports about this group, and I really think it all depends on the demographics on any particular cruise. Sometimes it has been restricted to 18-20 as "underage" for drinking, and specifically excluded those 21+. Other times the group has been open to any young adult willing to adhere to activities that don't include alcohol. Still others simply never really get going because there aren't many of that age group on the cruise or not interested in a semi-organized gathering. As with the kids' clubs, it's important to attend the first night.

Enjoy your cruise!

It was written, not on the phone.

In all likelihood, still being answered by a shoreside CM. The poster you appear to be trying to correct didn't even say anything about the phone. She also provided proof in the form of a recent navigator that shows the response from DCL appears to be incorrect.

Well I suppose the only thing to do is go the first night and see if it is OK. I saw that on Castaway Cay day they meet for a bike ride and I think my girls would enjoy that, and just meeting some new friends.

My grand daughter is now 19 and has been a part of this group for three cruises, since she turned 18. She loves it. Disney has one cruise staff who manages the group, facilitates the get togethers, etc. the group ranges from 18...or even younger if the staff member doesn't have a problem up to 21 or 22...at least in her experience. On our lady cruise there was a 16 year old who didn't want to hang with the teen group and she hung out with this group. They meet for games, get togethers at the clubs, dancing, etc. she has been on two European cruises as part of the group and they tended to drink a bit in th clubs. I had given her permission to drink which you can on the European cruises and even though I think she was supposed to be with me or her grand father, she always seemed to get a drink without a problem. This didn't bother me because I know what goes on University of Illinois where she goes t college, but it might bother others. Our last cruise was in the Carribbean and she was not allowed to drink at al...Although,again, it didn't seem to stop her from getting drinks. Some of th kids seemd to have access to their parents alcohol. The group went to the clubs every night and closed them down and then just hung out. She rarely got in before 2 am. But she has made a lot of good friends that she still corresponds with. And I was never concerned about her. The staff members they got to know seemed very nice and almost protective of the young women. I would say the group was half guys and half girls.

if you could, let me know what happens with your daughters. i am 21 going on a cruise in may. i went on one when i was 19 and had fun in club 18-21 but now that it is 1820 im not sure if i will be able to participate.

My DD turned 18 a few months before our last cruise and went to these activities and had a great time. The first night they met at the Cove coffee bar and learned how to make a few coffee drinks and then all came down to the 80's trivia night. On CC they did do a bike ride and there was an icecream social later on board. They seemed to end up in Evolution for the nightly shows/events.

OK, we are sailing in two weeks, so I will let you know. My DDs are 22, so if it is OK for them then you should be fine too.

I was looking at past personal navigators and the 1820 club activities sounded like fun, but I'm 23... :(

I think the best thing to do is go and see what happens.

And as I said, this is the email I received, so if you are 18-25 it SHOULD be alright:

This was wonderful to read!! We are going on our first cruise and my daughters are 17 and 20. The 17 year old will be 18 less than two weeks after our cruise and was hoping that she could do things with her sister. I hope they let her attend as I know there's no garuntee

We just returned from our trip on the Magic. Both of my DDs (age 22) participated in the 1820s groups. There were only 6 of them all together plus the Cast Members in charge. They still had fun even though it was a small group.
