$18 Roundtrip - doing the super happy dance!!

I knew that you guys would understand how exciting this is so I just had to share the joy.....

Yesterday Spirit Airlines released a special airfare sale and I was able to book us for an unexpected trip to WDW for $18 round trip in June!!!! This is Atlanta to MCO and the flights are not redeye flights.

I could not believe it. I was able to book 7 of us for $255 round trip includig all the taxes!!

The amazing part is that we are going to take my folks who have not been since 1980. My dad had a massive stroke 18 months ago and never thought that he would get to go back and see his grandkids at their "happy place" (the kids have been 13 times in the past 5 years). We had booked a AKV grand villa and then had to cancel it b/c dad could not tolerate the 8 hour drive and there was no way I could afford to fly us all down there when airfare was $260 per person. This is a dream come true and we are sooooo excited! We could not get an AKV villa but we did get 2 rooms at AKV which will be just as great, it is s short trip.

I had emergency bypass surgery in July '06, when my two oldest grandchildren were only two. It has been such a blessing to recover and watch them, and two more, grow and develop. We took everyone to WDW in December, and we are taking at least one of the older grandsons back, week after next. They are the reason we are in the process of buying into DVC. God bless your dad. Hope his health continues to improve.

Oh, and congrats on the cheap tix, too.

I wish Spirit flew out of Baltimore! We have Southwest and Air Tran, both have decent airfare. But I check Spirit flying out of DC and thier airfare specials rock.

I am so happy that you recovered so well! Dad also had emergency by-pass surgery and had his stroke during the surgery. It was an extreme double whammy. It was touch and go for about 6 weeks but now his heart is stronger than a teenagers. Unfortunately, his brain did not recuperate as well as his heart. One day he was running marathons and working 70 hours a week and the next minute he had the needs of a small baby. He is now vastly improved (thank goodness for physical therapy) and doing great and this trip is an unexpected highlight for him.

My mom is facing liver cancer (beat it 7 years ago with surgery - it's back) and will be with us for only a short while longer. She and my dad took each of their grandkids to WDW when the kids were elementary age. IF she seems stable week after next, we'll be doing our first "two on one" grandchild trip of our own.
