Where can i get a deal like this???....Sorta like they ropped a bunch of people in then stuck it to em....

I think they'll be lucky to get a 4% or 5% increase in profit. Regardless, after a few years of very small or non-existant price increases for the Dining Plan, an increase is long-time-overdue. In the end, we guests determine what they actually get: If we don't think the Dining Plan is worth it, we simply don't have to purchase it any longer.

I don't feel roped in. When I think its too expensive, I'll just travel off site to get my meals. We discovered Logan's on our last trip and really enjoyed it. If anything what irks me is how Disney has made Pop 70% preferred and ASmo 60% preferred. But thats for the resort board.

Whether DDP changes drastically, or none at all, it is always up to the guest to decide what works best for them.

Thanks for the input...Bicker the 18% is the truth...Disney will keep this as a profit..off the top...then ask the ddp family to tip...i guess whatever they think..

I have to agree, Profit is the name of the game for Disney. I just wish there was another way to go about it. How many people do they serve that do not even use the DDP? I wish someone knew the %.

kimberh...This troubles me also..like i have said before i hope familys can enjoy WDW and also for it to be affordable...The DDP in it's current shape in my op does a diservice to everyone..lets hope we can have a input and make it better for everyone....

Profit is the name of the game for every great company.

They will listen to the masses & profit from doing so.
Unless Disney is planning on hiring you the only input that will impact the company's decision is your purchasing the plan or not.
What would you say to them, "I would like you to get rid of the DDP, & please do everything you can to discourage patronage at your food establishments so that it is more convienient for me!!":rotfl:
Good Luck with that!:goodvibes +-

3JSMOMMY...would you like to make a comment or help in fixing this???..our are you gonna be pissed and not make a change for the better of everyone????

What I was trying to say was that it is futile to believe you are going to "fix" anything...but discuss away..even though I enjoy using the DDP I would never oppose discussing anything, I was simply trying to give a dose of reality:goodvibes

3JSMOMMY...I would really like your take on the current DPP...i would guess by your "no comment' that you are ok w/it even w/the 15% increase in cost...interesting that i see some DDPer's dropping like flys...

My take is this...
I have used the DDP because~
Once we got it for free:banana:
We stay onsite & eat onsite.
I have young children who LOVE character meals.
I enjoy not tallying up our spending on my vacation during every meal.(or ruining my husbands vaca. because he is doing this)
I know my budget way before our trip begins.
I like making ADR's ahead of time & choosing something I know my whole family will enjoy because I have consulted them.
It saves me $$.
We will be using it this year, for all of the reasons listed above. Disney has done a great job catering to our needs regarding the DDP.
Even if we broke even on the DDP & did not save $ I would still probably do it for the vacation friendly aspect of it.
Thats my take on it..you asked so I didn't want to be rude & "not comment".

Here is where our vacation habits are the same. It is posted on other Dining Threads from Disney Servers, that the changes could be a temp/perm change in their Union Contract.
My take on the whole thing is, Of course Disney is going to make money, they are charging Rack rates for the room and a ticket purchase, for their patrons to qualify for the DDP.
They were oviously making money for 2 years, or why would they have continued it for the second year?

It is for each family to decide to purchase it or not, If we are not happy with the changes, we can voice our complaints.

Once, the final Union Contract is released, I am sure that a point of contact will be posted for anyone that wishes to voice their concerns to, to be allowed to do so. For those that are happy, then continue to Buy.

Disney has Stockholders to answer to, which I am one.

What was the minimum wage increase in FL? If the 2007 prices didn't reflect this increase (and their food cost like rose as the suppliers factored in the increase) then Disney has underwritten us on DDP for 2007. In our area MW rose over 30% and consumers won't take that all in one lump, even though employers have too.

At the end of the day, whatever the price families can only afford so much. So if DDP is a must have for yours and the price now pushes your budget limit you will adjust resort/room choice, ticket type, length of stay, mode of transportation, etc. to get a trip you can afford. Its still your vacation, don't spend it being angry at Disney, it won't matter to their bank accouts if you are more unhappy during your stay.

I'm not saying Disney is right or wrong, but perhaps there is more to the story than we realize.

Don't Tip!
As harsh as that sounds, that is a protest, and one that will be heard loud and strong. Sure it hurts the folks it shouldn't, but at least disney might listen to that.

Let me just say that this is a horrible option and I hope no one actually does this. "Let the CMs pay for Disney raising prices on us, that will show them."...

How about a much better and more effective option of not purchasing the dining plan? If enough people do that, then Disney will make decisions based upon that.

I am not even saying that I would not purchase the DDP with a 18% hike..but you have the right to voice your opinion in the most effective way possible, by not purchasing the plan at all.

Bicker is correct. It is not a straight 18% increase to the bottom line. The price increase is approximately 18% of the value of one TS meal. There are no tips for the CS meals and the snacks you are getting on the plan. Plus, there are a lot more factors that go into figuring profit. There are fixed costs that will remain and if the total revenue decreases from the DDP based on this move, that eats into the profit.

Simply looking at a servers view, its hard to say. ALL of a servers 18% grat goes to their paycheck. So they see the grat from the DDP, as well as from parties of 8+, as well as grat from cast members using their discount.

No, not really. While Walt rolls over in his grave, the CEO, and upper level fools care nothing but their profit, and million dollar salaries.

Don't Tip!

I'm not even going to start ripping into you on how stupid that is. :sad2:

I pay taxes on a minimum of 13% of what I sell to you on plan or off plan. I tip out runners, bussers and bartenders, based on my sales to you. Should you NOT TIP, you have just COST me money to wait on you. This is the most ludicrous suggestion I have ever heard! This attitude is just plain disgusting! Why protest to the ones who cannot do anything about it? Protest to those who make the decisions.
