18% increase in profit for Disney=15% raise in cost for DDP?

Gee whiz, there is a lot of behind the scenes action with the DDP, isn't there??

I am sure the "truth" of the matter isn't going to be known by we the consumer. We are hearing the servers' version of the truth, Disney's version of the truth ... the "real" truth is probably somewhere in between, and not likely to be seen by the masses.

For my family, the DDP is a real savings. It was a huge savings before DS hit the "adult" credit mark when he turned 10 and we had to pay more for the picky little eater. Still, it's a big savings. DH and I sat down and compared food bills pre-DDP to the trips we took with the DDP, and the numbers were staggering. We saved a lot of $$.

To be honest though, the included tip is a huge incentive. Should Disney really take that aspect away, I would have to sit down and seriously re-evaluate it's value for us -- because we DO order more (and more expensive) items on the DDP. It may not be worth it for us to pay the tip portion of it in addition to the cost of the DDP. We'll have to wait and see though.

Don't Tip!
As harsh as that sounds, that is a protest, and one that will be heard loud and strong. Sure it hurts the folks it shouldn't, but at least disney might listen to that.

STAY HOME! That may seem harsh, but it's better to not have you at WDW than to have you hurting the cast members intentionally.
Disney isn't listening to the servers now! Making so that they can't buy food for their kids won't help!!

Do you think that the guest inclined to keep their DDP costs the same is going to pay attention to your explaining yourself 7 posts later? Nope. They are going to look at your original post and say "Eureka! Someone who feels the same way as me!" Servers know what's going to happen. The same thing that happens with the DDE card most of the time. A 10% tip on the discounted amount. Yes, I said most. I know that a lot of you say that you tip back the 20%, but the reality is that most users don't. It's almost as sure a thing as getting stiffed by the people who get "caught" lying about their kids' ages. LOL. I even get stiffed by the ones that I get the managers to still charge as a child half of the time.

The current meal plan was introduced in the beginning of 2005 and the changes weren't made until 1/1/2007. I guess we can agree to disagree as to the meaning of "quick end". I don't think 2 years qualifies.

Disney put a quick end to that. First off, their computers know separate adults and kids credits. Also, guests are not allowed to use more than what the card says. If it says 2 adults and 2 kids, yet the table has 4 adults, and they want it all on the DDP, they will be told NO!
