17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

Ahhh JAY JAY, just love reading your trippie. DH & I, as well, LOVED the adult beach when we did CC!!! Actually, I picked up quite a few lovely shells as I walked the beach. Brought them back to the ship to take home. At dinner that night we were all talking at our table and come to find out "you are NOT to take the shells from CC"...hence my <-----TAG!!!
I swear I never heard the announcement that morning before getting off the ship!!!! :guilty:

ANYWAY, my birthday is MARCH 6th!!! :cake: If I am doing my math correctly Stitch and I may be sharing the SAME day!!! :cake:

And wow, awesome for you and your pending trip with Stitch!! I hope you will once again shared your trippie with us as you head back to the WORLD!! ::yes::

I always look forward to reading about your private island days. It all sounds so wonderful and relaxing. I do have to say, the first picture you posted of your DH in the adult area I had to do a double take because at first I thought I was looking at Aladdin. Boy they look strikingly similar!

I can't believe we're up to the last night. I really hope you write a trip report of your time with Stitch otherwise I may have withdrawals! :scared1:

Subscribing to hear the end of your story - your family is beautiful, especially that adorable LP!

What gorgeous pictures! Castaway Cay looks so peaceful and amazing, I'm glad you all had such a great afternoon. Too cool how you got to stay in the ocean during the storm, that must have been a fun experience! And all of LP's smiles are just as adorable as always :goodvibes

I'm sad to see the report coming to an end so soon!

Oh no, it can't be coming to an end! :sad1: It's been such a treat to read your trip report - what wonderful trip it has been, from start to finish! Beautiful pictures in this update - and I think I'm not the only one who now has a Disney cruise in their future after reading about yours!

I see you have a family trip coming up to DC. I love DC. We live only 15 miles from there. When its warm we try and go every other weekend. IF you need any info just let me know.

Dinner

Sadly, our final dinner aboard the Magic was upon us. This not only meant that I was already starting to pout (;)) but that we were coming to dinner armed with tip envelopes. Let me just say that both our server and assistant server (Sameer and Gavin) were going to be finding quite a bit extra in their tip envelopes. I was actually less sad than normal, instead of thinking about how I wouldn't be having dinner aboard the Magic the very next night, I was focused on just how I could convince them both to come home with us. ;)

As we arrived in the dining room (we ate our final meal in Lumiere's) all sadness disappeared. This might be our final dinner aboard the Magic BUT...it was still dinner aboard the Magic and I was not going to let where I would (or more aptly wouldn't) be eating in 24 hours from then interfere with my enjoyment of this time.

Once again, I have lost my dinner notes. Sorry, somehow, an entire packet of my trip notes are missing. What I do remember is that Gavin (our assistant server) was 'out sick'. We were really bummed about that. However, no need to fear, Disney made sure that we still had great service (I pity the two poor assistant servers who split covering Sameer's tables along with their own...they were really hopping this evening).

Here are so pictures of my happy table mates.

Proof that Aladdin really did vacation with us this time. HA HA!
kwdw208246.jpg

I have no idea what I ate (although I know it was either shellfish or steak being as those are my favorites so I chose between the two every night) however, I do remember it being very tasty.

Along with the great food, there was a thank you the servers as they paraded through the restaurant with the flags of the many nations they came from carried proudly among them. It was a lot of fun to be able to clap and cheer and recognize them for a job very well done all week.
kwdw208239.jpg

You can see many of the guests on their feet (and yes, the service was so good that a standing ovation was not undeserved) and you can also see how Sameer came over to involve our boys in the fun.
kwdw208240.jpg

Also carried about during the parade were trays of flaming baked Alaska. The chefs proudly soaked up the praise for a week's worth of great meals!

On this night, cameras were flashing all over the dining room. I wonder if the servers were flash blinded by the end of the night. ;)

My amazing dessert. I don't remember the name, but the picture brings back the taste and WOW, my mouth is watering right now!
kwdw208250.jpg

A very sad sight indeed, Mr. Friend signing our last bar tab (we went back and forth and each family paid every other night).
kwdw208245.jpg

And with that sad signature, dinner ended...but not before we slipped their tip envelopes to Sameer and our head server. We were hoping Gavin would be well enough to give him his during our final meal, breakfast the next morning.

After Dinner

After dinner, I took our LP and Goofy to drop them off at their respective clubs for the evening (well, Flounder's Nursery is not a club...but it's where our LP went). Along the way we bumped into Harrison Ellenshaw again. He was once again hanging out near the art gallery (which is in essence, a wide hall). When I saw him, we said hello and he and Goofy
started conversing. Goofy is my big time art buff. I was so proud of him when Mr. Ellenshaw asked him about his favorite kind of art. Goofy (who had just turned 9 the week before) looked up at him and said "I like impressionism. My favorite painting technique is pointillism." One of the Park West Gallery employees was also standing by us and her jaw dropped to the floor (or almost ;) ). They were both very impressed that such a young child could converse about art movements and styles. For his part, Goofy was eating up the attention. They talked for another ten minutes about art. Not Mr. Ellenshaw's art...but GOOFY'S! For a little artist in training, it was truly an honor to have the attention of such a talented artist focused on him, discussing his own creations. For those few minutes, I am deeply in debt to Mr. Ellenshaw (and the auctioneer who joined in the conversation). They made my son feel like a budding Picasso. What a great memory for him. And for me too. I doubt either of them realized how much I was touched by their taking such an interest in one little child. My sweet, goofy boy. One of things they discussed was that Goofy should grab a magnifying glass and look at a magazine page and he would see that it was really a pointillist work (the picture on a magazine page). Ever since our return, Goofy has kept his magnifying glass close at hand when he is paging through a magazine. Try it, once you know to look for them, the many tiny dots are not hard to see at all.

Before we left, I wanted a picture of he and Goofy. The auctioneer also asked if I wanted dedication plate. I informed them he had already sketched me a castle last night...but he waved his hand and drew yet another smaller castle for me and then inscribed it "For The ******** Family May your lives always be filled with inspirations. Harrison Ellenshaw". Here is a picture of him signing it.
kwdw208256.jpg

And a picture of Mr.Ellenshaw and my little goofy artist. I think you can see the utter joy Goofy was feeling in his very pleased expression.
kwdw208257.jpg

Here is a picture of one of the decorations hanging in the hall. I laughed every time I walked past it during the cruise.
kwdw208258.jpg

Goofy chose to walk back to our room with me in order to put away the dedication plate. I think he wanted to see it safe. I am so happy that it meant so much to him. We stopped and took a picture with dh and Ari (our room steward) in the hall. He did a fantastic job keeping our room clean and making it welcoming all week long!
kwdw208259.jpg

Since we were back in the room, Goofy decided to change before heading to his club for a final night of fun.
kwdw208261.jpg

My adorable Goof.
kwdw208263.jpg

On this final night, dh and I chose to walk the ship, I didn't feel like sitting through the show and dh said he would rather not do so either. So instead, we walked, talked, held hands and enjoyed the ship and each other. I also took a few pictures that I thought would be good 'background shots' for my scrapbook-to-be.
kwdw208268.jpg

kwdw208267.jpg

For the life of me, I don't know which island we were passing. But, I thought it looked pretty with all of the lights.
kwdw208266.jpg

kwdw208264.jpg

kwdw208265.jpg

As we walked, we came upon an after dinner buffet set up just outside of Lumiere's. They had mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, cheeses, dips, fruits, veggies, breads, beef kabobs and more. I had just enough room to sample one bite of the beef kabob and take one nibble of dh's mozzarella stick. How anyone on that ship had room for more food, I have NO idea!

Before long, it was time for us to pick up our LP from the nursery. Not because it was midnight yet (the time the nursery closed) but because it was time for our movie to begin (and we didn't want to have to pick him up in the middle of it). Instead, we picked up our sleepy Little Prince (who was happily cuddled in the arms of a counselor rocking him to sleep in a rocking chair) and let him fall asleep in my arms as we watched the movie. Before five minutes had passed, he feel into a deep sleep. We were watching Swing Vote. While it was an okay movie, something about seeing it at sea made it even better. I just liked feeling the gentle sway of the ship as I cuddled my LP, held dh's hand and felt totally contented. Lucky for us, Mr. and Mrs. Friend were willing to pick up both Goofy and Stitch and keep them up on deck with their kids (playing foosball and milking every last minute out of the fun that was to be had on this cruise) while dh and I finished up the movie. It was about 12:45 by the time I made it up there to grab our kids. Dh had gone straight back to the room in order to get our LP down without him waking. I quickly rounded up my middle boys and walked back to our room with our friends. We got in just a few minutes before our Ocean Questers were set to arrive. Aladdin walked in at about 1:03 AM. And as soon as I saw him, it reminded me of something I had been meaning to do all week but had forgotten to get around too...so I grabbed him and hustled back to Ocean Quest. Here is Aladdin outside of his favorite place on the ship.
GOODWDWcamera291.jpg

It was now closed down. The doors were locked....but I knocked, hoping against hope that Aladdin's favorite counselor was still in there. HE WAS! And as he opened the door, he didn't look annoyed (I was worried we would be bugging him but it was truly less than five minutes since the club had closed). In fact, he looked very happy(only Disney can find these wonderful kinds of people)!

When we saw his smiling face, I asked Edson from Brazil (Aladdin remembered him from our last cruise as well)if I could just snap one quick picture of him. He agreed with no hesitation and when I explained that I wanted this picture because he was our son's favorite Disney CM of all time (land or sea) he almost teared up (what a great guy!) and he invited us in to visit with him as he finished straightening up the club.
GOODWDWcamera292.jpg

While we were in there, I took a few pictures of area that had spent more time with my son than I had in the past week. ;)

As we left, Edson reminded him to send him some email. To this day, Aladdin always gets a reply when he sends him something. :) Talk about going above and beyond! My final comment card absolutely glowed with praise for Edson the Ocean Quest counsler. He was GREAT!

As soon as we said goodnight to Edson, we hurried back to our room and feel asleep very shortly afterward.

Up next: Our final morning aboard the Magic.

:guilty: Wow, Jay- I can't believe that your TR is coming to an end! What an amazing last dinner you had; you truly do get "attached" to your servers. When I went on a cruise with my family and a group of other families back in 2006, one lady actually started crying when we said good-bye at our last dinner.

:goodvibes What nice CMs you encountered, and how great that they take the time to genuinely take an interest in individual children. Bravo to those CMs! :thumbsup2

I just noticed your ticker- just over a week until you are headed to the World again! I am so jealous! Be sure and buy some nice Basin products on my behalf...:rolleyes1 ;)

One of the things I love about your TRs is how appreciative you are to all of the CMs who've sprinkled pixie dust on your trip. As a former CM I know they all must be thrilled when you take time out from your vacation to talk with them and thank them. I'm sure the late night visit from you & Aladdin is a great memory for Edson! :goodvibes

Aw Jay, what a great last night! It's always such a bittersweet time, and I'm glad you all made the most of it!

This has been such a pleasure to read (as all of your TR's are!). I'm glad you bring us all along for your ride! :goodvibes

Hi! I’m pretty new here on the boards and actually I didn’t post ANYTHING before today (I guess that would make me a lurker:guilty: …). That’s also because I am from Belgium (that’s in Europe, a small country next to France) so my English isn’t that well (I understand everything but I really have to concentrate on writing, so sorry if I write any mistakes!).
But I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed your trip report! :thumbsup2 You have such a nice way of writing! It really made me want to go back to the World (and I only went, for the first time, at the beginning of this month!) and take a cruise some day…
I also wanted to compliment you on your nice sons. They look so well behaved and they are so kind to each other! And your Little Prince is just to cute for words :cutie: … If I ever have children of my own, I hope they will be as sweet as your boys!
So anyway, thank you so much for sharing your stories with us! :flower3:
:rainbow: :welcome: :rainbow: I am excited that your very first post was on this trip report. It's great to have you here! Belguim! I visited there during my high school years. The internet really does make the world awfully small, doesn't it. And have no fears, you should post more, your English typing is just fine!

Thank you for your kind words about the boys and the trip report. You brought a smile to my face. :)

Welcome to Jay's trippie, Lotje! I can vouch for the fact that her kids are just as well behaved and charming as they look! I was blessed to meet them all a couple years ago, and it was a highlight of our trip.

Jay, another terrific installment. I love seeing how the boys have grown - and cuter every day. No one would EVER mistake the little prince for someone elses child.
Hiya Linda! Hopefully we will be able to work out another in person meeting soon. :thumbsup2 I have a few more dates to run by you. :) Maybe...just maybe!

They have grown so much since this past trip even! I am hoping that Stitch's shorts from October will still fit him for our trip next week. ;)

Wow! I am really enjoying your report! You had some great surprises!
Thanks! I really enjoyed all of the surprises (both planned and unplanned).

:lmao: Yes!!!!! You did a wonderful job with the photo challenge Jay!!!!! I am mighty impressed!!!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the LP changing but being sad about how fast he is growing. The same thing is happening to my son!! It sure is a joy watching them discover new things though, isn't it?? Way too cute!!!!
We need to get those two little guys together! Not to mention their moms! ;)

I feel so relaxed after just reading about your wonderful time at Castaway Cay. That really was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and I'm tempted to take another cruise just to visit it again! Your family seems like they had such a blast, I especially love Stitch and his pirate ninja poses and Gingerbread Man
He was such a little ham that day. And you are so very right, Castaway Cay is VERY relaxing indeed!

::yes::
I knew that's where you got the tag from. It still CRACKS me up everytime I read it. Serenity Bay is such a great place. I wish I would have planned to spend a bit more time there.:cloud9:

His birthday is during the trip (not the day we leave)...but he follows three days after you. :)

:scared1:
All of the boys look so much like dh that I sometimes refer to myself as the incubator.:rotfl:

I would love to write a trip report (it's such a great pleasure to revisit such fun times)! I am glad that everyone is not sick of hearing about my travels yet. ;) I guess it's almost impossible to get sick of hearing about Disney (at least for me). :)

Subscribing to hear the end of your story - your family is beautiful, especially that adorable LP!
Thank you and welcome! :)

I loved being in the ocean during the storm. It was very relaxing and lots of fun.

Oh no, it can't be coming to an end! :sad1: It's been such a treat to read your trip report - what wonderful trip it has been, from start to finish! Beautiful pictures in this update - and I think I'm not the only one who now has a Disney cruise in their future after reading about yours!
I think everyone who has the chance should go on at least one Disney cruise. It's very different from a Disney land vacation but not 'less'. I love them both the same but for different reasons and in different ways.

I see you have a family trip coming up to DC. I love DC. We live only 15 miles from there. When its warm we try and go every other weekend. IF you need any info just let me know.
I might just take you up on the information offer. :) We are really excited to take the boys to DC. I haven't been there since I was in high school, needless to say, it's been a long time.:rolleyes1

:guilty: Wow, Jay- I can't believe that your TR is coming to an end! What an amazing last dinner you had; you truly do get "attached" to your servers. The CMs are so wonderful it's hard not to feel sad at the thought of leaving them. I think more than the ship itself, it really is the people that make the Disney difference!

:goodvibes
Without the amazing CMs we have encountered, I don't think I would return to WDW and DCL over and over again. With Disney, it really is the people that make the company! I don't know how they do it, but with very rare exception, I have had totally outstanding service, found the CMs to be very caring, funny, interesting and beyond helpful.

I hope our thanks can bring them even a sliver of the happiness that the CMs bring to us. I will never stop being appreciative of all they do to make each and every trip magical. :cloud9:

What did you do while you were a CM? **If I may ask.**

Aw Jay, what a great last night! It's always such a bittersweet time, and I'm glad you all made the most of it!
It is...the only thing that gets me through it is knowing (God willing) I will get to return that keeps me from crying my eyes out as I leave.

This has been such a pleasure to read (as all of your TR's are!). I'm glad you bring us all along for your ride! :goodvibes
Thanks! I have a tiny bit left to go. :cutie:

Another great update. I think we're all going to be as sad as you were to see your trip come to an end!!!

Wonderful updates.
The beach at Castaway Cay looked so inviting. I'm glad to see they have an adult area that you can escape to.

I can't believe you are almost done. This has been so much fun to read.

Your day at Castaway Cay looked wonderful! I cracked up at your "long lost Aladdian" comment on the one pic. :rotfl: I bet he is taking away a ton of memories and new friends. I hope someone out there recgonizes that boy and they can get back in touch!

And what a GREAT CM!! Only at Disney do you find people like that! It's so wonderful.

I can't believe your trip is ending. :sad1: It has been a complete joy to read! The entire time I've been thinking "We must go on a cruise, we must go on a cruise, we must go on a curise." Which I know we will, in a few years when Henry is a bit older...but everytime I read your TR, I want to do one NOW!

Commenting from earlier in your thread...Harrison Ellenshaw is wonderful!!! We are blessed to call him friend! Great choice on your giclee! Since we sailed with him, we continue to write and talk! He is truly an extraordinary man...and artist!!!!

Do you happen to be a woman with long brown hair or her husband? IF SO...I think we talked one night while watching him paint. Was that you?

HI!!! Yes, I think so! My husband is tall with red hair that has gone more blondish with age...he wears glasses and usually had a DVC hat on.

We ended up going with the Beast chiarograph, as well as an original. And a few of the John Rowe pieces. For Christmas though, my DH totally surprised me. He had gotten one of the Britto's...but there was an accident through Park West. They refunded us the price, so DH contacted Harrison. We ended up with the other three chiarographs!!! I am still sooooo excited and thrilled with them!!!!
Are you enjoying yours? The thing about them is that you pass by it on your wall, and you are transported back to the ship...and then there is the sheer beauty of the pieces!!!
